Chapter 47: Confronting The Dorm Supervisor (2)

"That's how your voice sounds in my ears," I said, flicking my pinky towards him.

"I don't want to listen to any more trash, Mr Sinbad. I'm a reasonable person, so I'll give you one minute to think about my proposal."

I began the countdown.

"59 Seconds."

Sinbad's voice trembled as he spoke, "I genuinely don't know what you are talking about. I haven't given anyone your dorm room security key... I'll try my best to get to the bottom of this and locate the perpetrators. However..!"

He continued, his voice increasing with intensity.

"If you want to threaten me, do you think that the school wouldn't react quickly if I reported you, considering your current reputation?"

I ignored his threats.

"30 Seconds."

Sinbad wanted to say more, but hesitated.

Silence enveloped the office.

"10 seconds."

My voice echoed across the room.

"5 seconds."

His hands sank deeper into the desk.

Cracks formed around his palms on the surface.

He continued to look at me with a fierce gaze, but it no longer held the same intensity it had held previously.

Just as I thought that he was about to do something foolish, he sighed deeply and collapsed into his seat.

"I was forced," he admitted.

"They told me that if I don't hand over the key to them, they'll make the rest of my life in this dorm a living hell. Even if I resigned, they'll make sure to come after me outside the academy. I didn't have a choice."

He closed his eyes and clenched his fists as though he were ashamed of what he had done.

"Who are they?" I asked curious.

"Mr Nathan, the heir of the Volarin Clan, and Mireal, a descendant of the Volarin Clan," Sinbad opened his quivering eyes and responded.

I nodded.

I recalled their identities.

The seventh and eleventh ranker on the Magical Swordman Class three ranking?

The Volarin Clan is one of the most prestigious clans with a long-standing history of powerful Magical Swordsman.

Although I had met them several times in class, I had never interacted with them before.

I instantly realised that this was connected with the warning that the MistPrincess02 had given me. They were part of those who would actively want to make my life unlivable.

"What rewards did they offer you?"

No matter how much he was threatened, they must have offered him a reward that made him willing to carry out such a task.

Sinbad's expression shifted into astonishment and bewilderment as though he hadn't expected me to figure it out.

He didn't respond.

"So you did this for free?" I asked, raising a brow in surprise.

"No!... They offered me... 200,000 Roble notes," Sinbad quickly responded; however, his voice became quieter as he finished speaking.

That was 70,000 less than the price of a magical beast with a C+ innate talent potential.

Even though students used merit points in the academy to give the commoners a chance at equality.

However, money was still the powerful juggernaut.

No matter how much it was restricted, there were still many ways that they could use it, such as bribing the academy's staff.

There were even cases where students who had narrowly managed to get into the academy sold their merit points to others for money so they could send back home to support their families.

They forfeited the various luxuries that the Grand Avalon Academy had to offer as long as one possessed enough merit points.

I suspected Sinbad came from a poor background, as the former dorm supervisor would never agree to do such a task for money.

"So cheap. I doubt they would have refused if you had asked for more. Don't tell me that you agreed to their bargain on the first offer?"

Sinbad's expression twisted as if he had swallowed a fly.

Sigh! He accepted the first offer they had given him.

"Since you didn't bargain, that means that you were trying to earn their favour, right?" I narrowed my eyes at him.

"No... I..." Sinbad tried to respond, but found himself unable to form a coherent sentence.

The longer he hesitated, the more obvious the answer became.

My room had been thrashed for 200,000 Roble notes.

200,000 Roble notes were not cheap. It was enough to cover the rent of an average family of three for a year.

But I would have been impressed if he had at least ripped both of them off.

He would have become a millionaire overnight.

And wouldn't have to lick ass in public.

Unfortunately, his choices resulted in extra charges that couldn't be repaid.

There was no need to waste time exchanging words with him.

"Option two it is."

Fire Spark.

Mana flared toward my hand.

Snapp! Pop!! Sizzle!!

A crimson flame crackling like a firework, wanting to kindle into a flame, sparked on top of my palm.

Sinbad's chair tumbled and fell over to the side.

He moved backwards; his movements were very swift for a man of his stature. He stared at me wide-eyed in fear.

His body shivered like he had seen a ghost.

"You wouldn't dare... You wouldn't dare attack an academy staff!! Ezekiel Zahara, if you don't control yourself, I'll report this to the academy and ensure you're expelled!" He shouted, his expression filled with anger and anxiety as he pointed a finger at me.

"You still don't get it. Let's say you managed to get me expelled. What do you think would happen once others discovered that the reason behind my expulsion was that you had colluded with some students who thrashed it while I was recuperating in the hospital?"

"Did you think that the Grand Avalon Academy would continue to keep a staff whose dignity could be bought at a price?"

I looked at him with sympathy on my face.

"My reputation might be bad, but once the Zahara Clan uncovers this, they will never allow a fool like you to remain here. If I leave, you'll be coming with me. However, your survival will be much more uncertain than mine"

Suddenly, I remembered why the former dorm supervisor had overlooked my presence.
