Chapter 224: Work hard, and have no regrets!
(I sent the summary as a paid post while feeling dizzy, do not subscribe…)
February has a total of 29 days, and I updated over 255,000 characters in this book. Except for the few days at the beginning of the month when I was writing on my phone and couldn't achieve daily updates of nine or ten thousand characters, and the few double updates at the end of the month, the rest of the time I was updating at least three or even four times a day!
This update volume, looking at the Xianxia category on Qidian this month, I believe you won't find five books with such aggressive updates!
I also know that in the future, I won't be able to achieve this kind of update volume!
Because this month is special. I just launched the book not long ago, and my writing enthusiasm was high. Plus, the pandemic allowed me to take a half-month break, letting me focus on writing at home without any worries.
I'd like to especially thank my family, particularly my mother. During these twenty-plus days at home, I spent most of my time writing, leaving little room to accompany my family for long conversations, yet they were all very supportive.
My mother cooked on time and called me for meals every day. I didn't even have to wash my clothes myself. Honestly, I lived like a spoiled kid for more than twenty days at home, feeling quite embarrassed.
But there's no choice. Although this book's launch results were below expectations, it hasn't completely flopped. So, I really want to fight to improve it, hoping to enhance the results through updates.
It's said that daily updates exceeding ten thousand characters will significantly improve performance and gain website recommendation support.
But the term "it's said" truly is just "it's said"!
My personal experience was, despite daily updates of ten thousand characters, the average subscription rate grew as slow as a tortoise, and there was no shadow of a website recommendation for a month!
At the time of launch, the book had 20,800 favorites, with 1,147 first chapter subscribers, and an average of 976.
Today, the favorites are at 25,300, first chapter subscribers are 2,390, and the average is 1,303. It looks like it has increased a lot, doesn't it?
But the actual situation is now my latest updated chapter only has about eight hundred subscribers within 24 hours!
Moreover, the first chapter upon launch was 2,390, but the sixth chapter dropped to 1,964!
Obviously, many people only subscribed to the first day's five chapters and didn't continue, with subscription numbers severely declining later.
Originally, I thought it was because the writing collapsed, causing many to abandon the book. Because when switching maps to the Liuyun Continent Cultivation Realm, the 24-hour chapter subscription number suddenly decreased by two hundred.
However, later I discovered it wasn't the case. Because when writing about the Beast Tide, the chapter subscription numbers instead exceeded the previous couple of hundreds. This proves it wasn't abandoned!
I'm not complaining about these people skipping subscriptions, as they have their reasons. These chapters may have made them feel it wasn't worth subscribing.
When the subscription results don't improve, the blame can only be placed on the author for not writing well. Otherwise, why do those popular books have such high subscriptions?
But honestly, a person's abilities are limited, and the same goes for writing skills.
I know my writing isn't satisfactory, but all I can say is, this is the writing level I can achieve at present, and improving it is really challenging!
So, I hope to improve results through daily ten thousand-word updates, hoping the readers would see my hard work and offer some compensation.
Yet, with a month gone by, it's clear I was mistaken!
No matter how much I explode with updates, if the book isn't written well, it's useless!
Especially after having comparisons.
Last week, a friend's book launched, their first-day subscription was 1,470, and within a week, their subscription reached my current level, with average subscriptions nearing two thousand. Their weekly growth is bigger than my monthly growth!
I feel really sad! Don't know how to express it!
I can even say, the last few days of this month, the updates decreased just because after persisting for a month without seeing any hope, I collapsed emotionally, didn't want to fight anymore, felt it was meaningless!
In a depressed mood, I'd rather play King of Glory, advertise in other books, or scroll Douyin rather than turn on the computer!
Luckily, as I started working again these past two days, chatting with colleagues eased the suppressed mood somewhat, reduced the pressure slightly. After all, I still have a job. Even if writing doesn't earn much, I can still support myself.
Finally, returning to the title of this single chapter: You won't have regrets if you've tried hard!
I have tried hard, though I didn't succeed!
The book will, of course, continue to be updated until completion, which should be several million characters down the line!
However, like this month's three chapters or four chapters daily updates, there definitely won't be anymore. In the future, it can only be guaranteed to update two chapters daily, earning the site's full attendance reward, and if I take a holiday and can save up a few chapters, then I will do a small burst update.
Special thanks to those book friends who have rewarded this book, thanks to book friend Polar Bear 2018 for rewarding an Alliance Leader, though this big guy's fan value hasn't moved for half a month and seems to have abandoned the book?
Thanks to book friend Do I Still Have a Chance? 5 times ten thousand reward to become the Sect Leader of this book, this big guy chases updates every day, or opened the automatic subscription, special thanks!
Other book friends who rewarded ten thousand as well, like Goddess Come to the Bowl, Leaves in the Wind and Rain, and Wenwu20180813.
Additional thanks to Smiling at the Wind and Clouds, Ladies Not Easy, Maple Leaves Like in the Year Jop, Sliding Door Bro, EricWSC, and other book friends who often reward.
Also thanks to book friends who check in daily and post reviews, like 地丶狱丿, Lingtiao Pavilion Qingyuanzi, and 書 etc. They've been rewarding and warming posts.
Of course, there are many other rewarding book friends, names won't be listed one by one. Thanks to everyone for your rewarding support, and especially thanks to the hundreds of book friends who still chase the book daily.
I know this genre is niche and not particularly suitable for chasing daily. The fact that everyone still chases daily is the greatest support to the author. Rest assured, I will definitely write this book with a proper beginning and end, giving you a conclusion, not letting your money go to waste and effort wasted!
Finally, given that the book's full subscription fan value is almost near 2000 points, and many book friends inquiring about book friend groups, I decided to create a legitimate full-subscription Penguin Book Friends Communication Group today. Interested book friends can apply to join the group with a screenshot of fan value; this will facilitate timely updates and understanding author's movements...
Penguin Book Friends Communication Group: 290883946
Upon group joining, please promptly screenshot your fan value and privately message the group owner or post it in the group. If you don't know how to check your fan value, please see the pinned post in the review section for a tutorial!
