Cthulhu: I Created the Monster Sequence

Chapter 2: The Deep Diver!

"Your code name is 002: Deep Diver."

"Deep Diver?"

"What does that mean?"

The fish-man looked at the girl in confusion. The girl shrugged, then transformed back into a raven.

"If the master calls you that, there must be a reason, just like my name is the Imitator."

The fish-man instinctively took a step back. "The master... you mean the person who gave me the potion?"

"Are you... human? Is he... human?!"

The raven flapped its wings, shaking off the rainwater. It flew onto the fish-man's shoulder.

"I'm not human. As for the master, you're not qualified to know."

"If you want to know, do something practical first. Think about why you were lying here, who left you here. Don't you want revenge?"

The fish-man's brow twitched. "I... if people see me like this, I'll definitely be captured!"

The raven covered its forehead with its wing. "Ugh, humans have come up with so many types of clothing. Can't you just wear clothes?"

The fish-man looked at his hands. "But with my current appearance... where can I find clothes?"

The raven shook its head. "Your IQ is really concerning. Fine, I'll go find some for you. Wait here."

...

About twenty minutes later, the raven, now in the form of a girl, returned with a pile of bags.

The fish-man was sitting under the eaves, sheltered from the rain, hugging his knees and curled up into a ball.

"Put these on."

The fish-man was stunned. "Where did you get these? Did you... pay for them?"

The raven was taken aback. "Does the owner need to pay when taking things from their own store?"

"You... a raven, you own a store?"

"Do I look like I own a store? I just transformed into the owner's appearance." The raven was clearly annoyed.

Humans could be so stupid.

"Oh..."

The fish-man obediently put on the clothes. They were all large sizes, and there were also masks, hats, scarves, and sunglasses.

After putting everything on, the raven draped a raincoat over him.

"There, now no one can tell you're different."

"Except for your exaggerated size."

The fish-man looked at the gloves on his hands. "No one can tell now, but why do I feel... so hot?"

"Ugh!"

"Ahhh!!"

Crack!

For some reason, the fish-man suddenly fell to his knees. His body shrank, and all the fish-like features disappeared in an instant.

"I... I'm back to normal?"

The fish-man excitedly took off his gloves. His hands had indeed returned to normal.

But when the rain touched his hands, scales began to grow again!

"Wait, why?"

"Does that mean I turn into a monster whenever I touch water?"

The fish-man put the gloves back on. As long as he kept his body dry, he could return to human form.

But when he got wet, he would turn into a fish-man.

So, this was actually a controllable transformation?

But...

"Does this mean I can never go to a bathhouse again?"

The raven was speechless.

"Is that really your concern? Alright, enough nonsense. Now it's time for you to take revenge, right?"

The fish-man took a deep breath. "Yes, it's time for revenge."

"With this ability, even if it's not perfect, I don't want to live as miserably as before!"

...

The fish-man walked down the street. The rain kept most people indoors, and the few who passed by didn't pay him any attention.

Only one student, after brushing past him, paused for a moment.

"Chu Yang, what's wrong?"

"Nothing... I just smelled something fishy."

"Ugh, probably a fish seller. Nothing to see, let's go!"

...

In the suburbs, inside an abandoned tire factory.

The place was filled with smoke and the stench of cigarettes. Seven men with a thuggish air were playing cards, cigarettes dangling from their mouths.

"Single two, do you want it?"

"Double two."

"By the way, did you just leave that kid there?"

"What else? Are we his dad? Should we have taken him home?"

"Don't let it turn into a murder."

"Relax, he won't die."

One of them looked out the window. "The rain's been heavy these past few days."

"It's the rainy season."

"By the way, I read a story the other day. It was about a killer who only struck on rainy nights. He wore a raincoat and killed nine people without leaving a trace."

"And when he killed, he would cry and scream. At first, I thought the killer must be a lunatic."

"But guess what? The killer wasn't even human!"

Boom!

A thunderclap rang out, and at the same time, the men at the table all widened their eyes.

The storyteller was confused. "Hey, what's with the looks? I'm not done yet."

"I thought it was a brain-burning mystery, but the killer turned out to be a fish. Who could have guessed that?"

No one spoke. One of them pointed behind the storyteller.

"Behind... behind you."

The man was puzzled. "Behind me? What's..."

He turned around. Standing at the entrance, in the pouring rain, was a man in a black raincoat, motionless.

The group fell silent.

The figure stepped into the warehouse, shaking off the water, and began to remove his clothing piece by piece.

When he was fully undressed, the men saw his true form.

A human.

"Damn, it's just this kid. He's trying to scare us!"

One of them jumped up. "We were just hired to do a job, we..."

Before he could finish, the man stepped back into the rain.

In the next moment, his body began to twist at impossible angles. The sound of bones cracking and growing echoed through the warehouse.

Scales grew on his body, his head took on a fish-like appearance, and sharp fins sprouted from his back.

In this monstrous form, the fish-man stepped back into the warehouse.

The men were speechless, instinctively backing away.

"A... fish-man?"

Splat.

Splat.

The monster walked on the concrete floor, the webbed feet making squelching sounds with each step.

As the monster drew closer, the men grabbed whatever weapons they could find—steel pipes, bricks, anything within reach.

"It's coming!"

"What the hell is that thing?!"

"Don't think about it, just attack!"

Splat!

The monster lunged forward, moving on all fours in a grotesque, twisted manner.

"Attack? Run, you idiots!"

One of them tried to flee, but the monster pounced on him.

Thud!

The man was knocked to the ground, screaming and kicking at the monster's stomach, but it didn't budge.

"Don't kill me! Help me!!"

The fish-man looked down at the screaming man. The world in his eyes grew increasingly blood-red.

Kill!!

Crack!

The monster's hands twisted, snapping the man's neck.

...

After that, the fish-man lost consciousness.

When he woke up, seven mutilated bodies lay before him. His claws were drenched in blood and chunks of flesh.

He stared at his hands, tears streaming down his face.

Dead?

All dead?

Slap!

The fish-man covered his eyes with his hands, tears pouring out. "I... I didn't mean to... haha..."

"Haha, sob, I didn't want to kill anyone, I didn't... sob... haha..."

Thud.

A figure appeared at the warehouse entrance, frozen in place at the sight of the hellish scene.

Hearing the sound, the fish-man looked over.

The man turned and ran!

"Sob, sob, I'm sorry, I'm sorry...!"

The sound of crying followed him as he ran through the rain, but the sobbing never seemed to fade.

"What was that...?!"

Squelch!

"Ah... ahh..."

Thud.

"Sob, I didn't mean to, I didn't... sob..."

The body fell to the ground. The fish-man, still crying, grabbed the corpse's legs and slowly dragged it back into the warehouse.

Outside, one man remained.

He hid inside a metal container, covering his mouth tightly.

Cold sweat dripped down his forehead, and a chill ran from his feet to his very bones.

For half an hour, he didn't dare move. The night was silent except for the sound of the rain.

"What... what was that thing?"

Recalling the earlier scene, the man's pupils trembled, and his entire body shivered from the inside out.

He peeked out of the container. There was nothing outside.

But at that moment, a hysterical cry came from behind him!

"Sob, you heard it, you heard it, haha sob!!!"

!!!

The man turned his head suddenly, and his two round eyes were right behind him!

Poof!

... No. 002: Deep Diver (Crying Murloc)
