Chapter 9: Chapter 8- Threat?
'Is it really okay to wait? Will he get mad? Should I just go back? Am I being a nuisance? Will he be pleased-I don't know…' These were the thoughts that clogged her mind as Valerie remained standing before the common hall.
She doesn't even know if Austin would have breakfast in the common hall or his office like usual. However, she came here early in the morning to wait for him…and was hoping she could sit near him.
This step was taken after a lot of thinking and self-conflict.
She assumed that since her Lord had taken a step towards their relationship, it would be wise for her not to step back and make him feel bad…or was Valerie just being pushy?
She doesn't know!
"Ah!" A soft exclamation left her lips when she noticed him…advancing towards the common hall while looking nothing less than a heartthrob.
Valerie was mesmerized looking at her beloved, who, despite wearing the same uniform as others, extruded a charm that forbade her from looking at anyone else.
Her eyes were meant to drown in his charm.
"Good morning?" Before Valerie could realize it, Austin was standing right in front of her while waving his hand slowly.
Her expression stiffened as she realized that he must have sensed her inappropriate gaze.
"G-Good morning…" She might have bitten her tongue.
Not good!
Austin chuckled seeing that reaction from the lovely lady before he offered, "Shall we go inside and have breakfast?"
"T-Together?"
Austin slightly tilted his head, "If you don't mind I would love to share the table with you."
"I don't! Umm…please lead the way." Her cheeks were burning due to embarrassment, and before she could show any more unlady-like traits, she lowered her head and asked him.
Austin was smiling ear to ear, seeing that reaction. Ain't she just adorable?
They walked inside the common hall in silence, while being watched by others. They must be interested in knowing how someone who detested Valerie until yesterday, was now accompanying her in the morning.
"Did you sleep well last night?" Austin asked in a whisper as he slowed down his pace to match hers.
Valerie slowly nodded, "Somehow."
Austin raised his brows, "I wasn't able to sleep much…thinking about you and us."
Valerie was rendered speechless. Just the thought of her Lord thinking about her while lying down on his bed…made her blush.
They were whispering a few words to each other while walking towards the food counter when suddenly a commotion broke out.
"Darling! I will save you from these vultures!" A young boy from the first year shouted while pointing at a group of students.
"But my lord! You hated me until now…why come to save me now?!" Another student, a guy, while pretending to be a girl, asked the first one.
The first boy's eyes sparkled as, in a dramatic tone, he said, "I realized my love last night and decided to adhere to you. After all, this useless son of the family needs a powerful woman who can protect him, right~" Saying so, the guy and the whole group turned their eyes toward Austin.
Valerie's expression darkened, her steps coming to a halt and her aura making the common hall grow dark.
The instructors standing at the entrance instantly turned their heads toward the source of the disturbance.
The boy who was imitating Austin narrowed his eyes as a cold sweat trailed down his back, but he refused to back off.
Before Valerie could have moved toward them and would have done something that surely would have granted her an explosion letter, Austin held her arm.
"It's okay, Val. Let them be." Austin knew the consequences of any action being taken here. Generally, no instructors remain around Common Hall around this period ... which explains that Morkel has sent them here under the 'presumption' that something might happen.
And the fact that Austin took Valerie's side during the trials must be revealed by him to these students, as well.
If Valerie or Austin reacted violently, they would land in their trap.
Valerie's aura slowly subdued, as Austin waved at the instructors before telling them, "It's all good now."
The two men glanced at each other before they decided to back off.
Valerie looked at her Lord before asking, "Just a moment. Please."
Austin trusted her judgment and released her arm.
Valerie turned towards the group and started walking. The instructors tensed up, however, since she wasn't releasing her aura, they didn't stop her.
She wasn't running, nor was she yelling. She moved slowly, deliberately, her every step radiating menace. The light in the hall seemed colder, dimmer, as though her very presence was leeching the warmth from the air.
Most of the boys from the group have backed off except for the two who dare mock her Lord.
Valerie came to a pause before them and asked,
"You are Davin Longwock, son of Viscount Orion Longwock, and you….Brendon Notreheim, son of Baron Flitwick Notreheim."
The boy, Davin, narrowed his eyes, "Yeah, so what?"
Valerie ignored his words and continued, "Section three first year, fourth bench. Section four first year, seventh bench. You both were once charged with sexually assaulting a first-year classmate during the orientation. But because of your father's support, the case was dismissed."
Hearing that, Brendon instantly clutched Davin's shirt in apprehension while Davin's expression also faltered.
"W-What are you trying to imply here?"
A very thin and chilly smile extended her lips, as she said, "Sadly, your misdeeds will cause not only you but your corrupted fathers as well. Just watch your steps while walking at night. Someone might be behind you~"
A chill ran down Davin's spine as he yelled at her, "You can't threaten us!"
"Threat? A threat has a possibility that the person might not do what they claim." Her expression turned frosty, eyes devoid of any emotion as the violet-haired added,
"But I assure you, I will make your life hell, after what you have done today. Just wait for the big news, my adorable underclassmen~"
