Chapter 78: Jibril, and the World of No Game No Life
Rin Tohsaka: How can you say I'm robbing you? I just have a little more faith in Lord Su Mo.
Rin Tohsaka: Besides, even if there's a 99.99% chance Lord Su Mo will win, isn't there still a 0.01% chance of a draw?
Kanae Kocho: I don't think so.
If she hadn't joined the chat group, she would have considered the power of Muzan Kibutsuji to be an insurmountable force, to say nothing of a literal god. As for Su Mo, who could slay gods with ease, his strength was already beyond her comprehension.
Rin Tohsaka: You gotta risk it for the biscuit! If I happen to win against the odds, wouldn't that be a huge jackpot?
Rin Tohsaka: Although, I admit I also can't imagine anyone existing who could rival Lord Su Mo.
In the Tohsaka residence in Fuyuki City, the twin-tailed little girl stuck out her tongue, admitting the truth. Given Su Mo's ability to kill gods as if they were chickens, her current perspective made it difficult to imagine anyone in the world could be his equal.
Madoka Kaname: Did you all miss something?
Madoka Kaname: Welcome, new member! @Jibril
Erica Blandelli: !
Rin Tohsaka: !
Kanae Kocho: !
Erica Blandelli: I didn't even notice until you pointed it out, Madoka. I didn't expect a new member to join so soon.
Erica Blandelli: Welcome, new member!
Rin Tohsaka: Welcome! Jibril, that sounds like a Western girl's name!
Kanae Kocho: Welcome to the group! This is the Dimensional Chat Group. It's not a ghost or some kind of dark magic. If you have any questions, feel free to ask us!
The group members were all very enthusiastic in welcoming the newcomer. So far, everyone who had joined the chat had a decent personality, so they felt no need to be overly cautious.
When the new member remained silent, they subconsciously assumed she was probably an ordinary person, overwhelmed by her first encounter with something so surreal.
Normally, they would have just opened the new member's profile to get their answers.
But right now, Su Mo's god-slaying was being broadcast live.
Considering that Su Mo's battles were usually over abnormally fast, they didn't want to miss the main event. They decided to check the new member's profile later.
Because of this, they had no idea what was currently happening on the newcomer's end.
---||---
In the world of No Game No Life, within a private room in the sky city of Avant Heim, the home of the Phantasma race.
BZZZZZT~
A massive amount of Elementals was condensed into a spear of light, which emitted an unsettling hum, proof that the energy within had been constrained to its absolute limit.
The wielder of this spear was a girl with a geometric halo above her head and a pair of pure white wings extending from her lower back. She looked like an angel, yet her form was vastly different from the angels of common mythology.
If a Godslayer were here, they would be shocked by this scene.
Not by the girl's unusual appearance, but by the sheer scale of the energy she was wielding. It was a torrential power that surpassed any dragon vein and exceeded the magical energy of a typical Godslayer.
Even a Heretic God couldn't command so much divine power at once, yet this girl handled it as if it were free. She wasn't just maintaining it; she was pouring even more energy into condensing a single spear made of pure power.
Judging by her effortless posture, the energy she was currently using was far less than a tenth of her total reserves.
From the standpoint of power scale alone, this girl was a monster who far surpassed any Godslayer or Heretic God!
"A Dimensional Chat Group?"
A flicker of interest shone in the Flügel Jibril's eyes. She aimed the tip of her light spear toward her door, targeting the translucent chat screen before her.
Just then.
"Jii-chan, what are you doing in your room, meow?"
A Flügel girl with a similar appearance and body structure pushed the door open, a suspicious grin on her face.
"Just so you know, I'm only here because it's my duty as your big sister to look after you. That's why I came in without permission when I sensed the abnormal energy fluctuations. I was worried you were in trouble. I was definitely not hoping for some lucky pervert scenario, like accidentally seeing you changing or something. *Guhehehe~*"
Azriel walked in with a slightly deranged smile on her face.
And then, she saw it: the fully charged spear of light, its tip glowing with an ultimate brilliance.
"Eh?"
She froze for a second, then immediately tried to explain.
"Wait! Jii-chan, it's me!"
BOOM!
Before she could finish her explanation, the power accumulated in the spear of light completely erupted.
An energy capable of shattering mountains and seas, of turning peaks into abysses, roared forth in an instant.
From outside the sky city, one could see the phantom of a spear, like a beam of aurora, instantly pierce through the internal dormitory structure, shatter the external barrier, and shoot straight into the heavens, leaving a scar of light dozens of kilometers long across the sky.
The massive commotion inside Avant Heim also attracted the other Flügel, who gathered to watch. They weren't worried about an enemy attack—no being would dare assault their home base—they were just curious about what was happening this time.
After the dust settled, the spectating Flügel girls immediately saw Azriel lying in the center of the ruins.
Despite being hit by an attack powerful enough to instantly kill a Godslayer, the Flügel before them was completely unharmed, aside from looking a bit disheveled.
The Flügel girls weren't surprised by this outcome. Azriel was the strongest individual among them and their leader; there was no way an attack of this level could hurt her.
However, having confidence in her didn't mean they wouldn't laugh at her.
"How did Sister Azriel get beaten up again? Who did it?"
"Do you even need to ask? Besides Jibril, who else would have the guts?"
"That's true!"
"She probably tried to harass Jibril again and got counter-attacked. Honestly, she doesn't deserve any sympathy."
"I second that!"
The Flügel girls quickly deduced the cause of the incident and began to gossip excitedly.
Being blasted away by Jibril was already heartbreaking for Azriel. Hearing the unsympathetic comments from the other girls brought tears to her eyes.
"That's so mean! I'm the one who got hit, so why is everyone so biased toward Jii-chan?! Even if she's cute, you can't just ignore me like this! I'm the leader!"
Faced with her tearful, authority-lacking complaint, the Flügel girls exchanged glances and shook their heads.
"Jibril has some strange interests, but she wouldn't just attack someone for no reason, right?"
"Yeah! She's respectful to all of us, except for you, Sister Azriel."
"So, Azriel, I think you should do some self-reflection!"
This string of comments nearly made Azriel break down.
"Damn it, hearing you all say that makes me think it's my fault too! But Jii-chan was the one who broke the rules and recklessly used her power in her room!"
Seeing her pitiful state, some of the Flügel softened.
"There is a rule about not using your powers inside the rooms. And that attack did seem to come from Jibril's room."
"Could it be we misunderstood Sister Azriel? Was Jibril the one being mischievous this time?"
Considering the unpredictable behavior of the final unit, they thought it wasn't impossible.
Seeing that public opinion was shifting in her favor, Azriel dusted herself off and stood up proudly.
"That's right, it's all Jii-chan's fault! I just broke into her room without permission to see what she looked like without clothes on, and she dared to attack me, her older sister! How outrageous!"
"This time, I'm going to punish her severely. Her punishment will be… sharing a room with me from now on! *Guhehehe~*"
As she spoke, a glint appeared in her eyes, and she nearly started drooling.
In her moment of candor, Azriel clearly didn't notice the looks of shock and disgust on the other Flügel girls' faces.
"To enter someone's room without permission… Sister Azriel is the worst!"
"No wonder Jibril fought back. Good for her!"
"And we actually believed Sister Azriel's words for a second? We must have been out of our minds!"
"She totally deserved it!"
The tide she had just turned was swiftly reversed by her own confession.
"Huh? Huh?!"
Staring at the cold gazes of the other Flügel, who looked at her as if she were a bug to be squashed, Azriel was dumbfounded.
"W-Wait! Don't look at me like I'm trash! I mean, I did want to peep on Jii-chan, but that's mainly because I sensed a major fluctuation coming from her room… Jii-chan, say something!"
Making things worse with every word, she could only plead for Jibril's help.
It was only then that everyone noticed Jibril, the culprit, hadn't come out.
Just as they were about to go in and check, Jibril pushed open the ruined door, an exceptionally excited smile on her face.
"Hehe, it's completely unaffected by Elementals. Interesting, very interesting… Not even the illusions of the Dhampirs can achieve something like this, can they?"
She stared intently at the screen before her, her eyes filled with a thirst for knowledge.
"Jii-chan? Are you okay?" Azriel asked with concern, looking at her expression.
"Hm? Why are you still here?" Jibril finally looked up, glanced at Azriel with confusion, then immediately lost interest and went back to studying the chat interface.
"What do you mean, 'why am I still here'?! Were you trying to kill me just now?" Azriel asked, feigning grievance. With her power, it would be strange if an attack like that could actually hurt her.
"Not really," Jibril shook her head, stating the plain truth. "I was just trying to research something."
Hearing this, Azriel was overcome with joy.
"Is that so? So you weren't trying to hit me? You just didn't see me come in and I got caught in the crossfire by accident?"
She knew it! Jibril still loved her after all.
"No." Jibril gave her a look one might give a fool. "It was intentional. I attacked because I recognized you. But hitting you was just a bonus. My main goal was to study this thing in front of me."
"Guh… How could you!"
Hearing the first part, Azriel's eyes widened in protest, but the second part left her confused.
"The thing in front of you? Is there something there?"
"I knew it. You can't see it either?" Jibril glanced at her, her expression growing even more interested.
"Jii-chan, have you gone mad? Or are you playing some kind of 'Emperor's New Clothes' trick?"
Azriel was completely lost. There was clearly nothing in front of Jibril, nor was there any Elemental reaction. What was she talking about?
Unexpectedly, Jibril completely ignored her.
"I hate to say it, but this thing might actually have a property that makes it invisible to idiots… However, if even you can't see it, then very few people can. I'll go ask our Master God!"
With a determined look, she flapped her wings and flew directly toward the core at the very top of Avant Heim.
Upon that divine throne, the ultimate God of War, Artosh, had sat in silent meditation for over ten thousand years.
In Jibril's eyes, if there was one other being in this world besides herself who could see the Dimensional Chat Group, it had to be the creator of the Flügel, the strongest God of War in the world, Artosh.
However, the conclusion of this audience was…
"There is nothing there. As your creator, I am certain there is nothing before you. There are no signs of external interference in your mind. Your state is perfectly normal," the God of War declared from his high throne.
"If there truly is some special existence before you, then it must be something that transcends the comprehension of a god."
Not dismissing Jibril's words as lies, the God of War proposed this possibility after careful analysis.
"Transcends a god?"
Hearing this, Jibril flapped her wings, her eyes burning with a fervent heat.
"Doesn't that mean this so-called chat group has the potential to surpass Lord Artosh?"
For a creation to openly speak of surpassing her creator—in any other place, such words would be considered the highest form of blasphemy.
But the God of War did not see it that way. On the contrary, he looked at Jibril with anticipation.
"Theoretically, yes. However, whether that can be achieved depends on your ability."
"I understand, Lord Artosh!" Jibril stood up excitedly.
Then, in front of Azriel and all the others, she spoke directly to her Master God, uttering the most treasonous words imaginable.
"When I find the power that transcends the gods, I will fulfill your wish and grant you the most thorough defeat!"
Hearing the bold declaration from this small Flügel, the God of War, Artosh, replied in a perfectly calm tone.
"When you are capable of doing so, come and report to me then."
"Yes, my Lord!" Jibril nodded immediately.
Then, she flapped her wings and left, leaving a crowd of Flügel frozen in shock at her audacious words.
As for Jibril herself, after finding a secluded space, she analyzed the conversations in the chat group and decided on the persona she should adopt.
Jibril: H-Hello, seniors. I'm Jibril. It's nice to meet you all.
Jibril: But, I have a question… where is this place?
With a few simple details, the image of a pitiful, frightened, and fragile young woman was perfectly crafted.
