Crossover Shipgirls: Building a Dimensional Empire from Scratch

Chapter 58: Damn It, Your Fleet Is in the Wrong Scene!

Azure Lane World.

Shua—

With a flash of the dimensional anchor, Setsuna appeared in the main square of the port, accompanied by the now starship-equipped shipgirls and a few Heroic Spirits.

Compared to his first arrival, the port now seemed a bit desolate. Most of the shipgirls had already moved to the capital city on the other side. Only a few Bulins and Manjuus remained, diligently working away.

"Strange, after getting used to Constantinople, coming back here feels... small," Yat Sen remarked casually.

She remembered how, a year ago, she had traveled from here to a world of ruins. Now that she had returned, the port's scale paled in comparison to the capital of the Starsea Alliance.

The reasons were twofold: first, being an oceanic planet, the port lacked the space for expansive land-based construction. Second, the constant warfare with the Sirens had consumed most of the shipgirls' resources and energy, leaving them little room for expansion.

Soon, a white-haired shipgirl wearing a military uniform and cap approached them.

"I'm Tirpitz, responsible for garrisoning the port. Commander, how can I assist you?"

"How are things here? Any news about Purifier or other high-level Sirens?" Setsuna asked, seeking intelligent high-level Sirens.

"Recently... there've been minor Siren offensives against the port, but they were probing attacks. Our coastal defenses were enough to repel them," Tirpitz reported as she led the group to the operations room and hung up a sea chart.

"However, it seems the Sirens have noticed the decreasing number of shipgirls in the port. They've been tightening their encirclement, gradually compressing our area of activity."

"I was about to report it, but considering the starship upgrades were underway, and we could still manage, I decided to hold off for now."

Previously, the area within several hundred nautical miles of the port was considered safe for shipgirl operations, with Sirens rarely encroaching. Recently, however, the Sirens had been encroaching closer and closer, seemingly testing the port's defenses.

"Tsk, looks like we'll have to engage the Sirens, at least to clear the surrounding waters," Setsuna clicked his tongue. He couldn't let the shipgirls go on a trip to his side only to return and find their home overrun.

"As for high-level Sirens, this area is under the jurisdiction of Purifier. She seems relatively easy to talk to, though she's still quite formidable."

"There were a few skirmishes in the past and that time during the weapon experiment. I got the sense she wasn't taking us seriously—more like she was just toying with us."

Tirpitz fell silent for a moment before marking a location on the map.

It was the position of Purifier as identified by a reconnaissance fleet.

"Is that so?"

The destroyers present recalled that during the weapon tests, Purifier had adopted a nonchalant attitude, almost as if saying, "Hit me if you like." She rarely bothered to counterattack, like an adult watching children play.

"Hmm... in that case, perhaps we can have a conversation with her," Setsuna mused.

"Be gentle later, don't make the big-eyed cutie cry."

...

Shua—

Under the gaze of the stationed shipgirls, the Eternal Snowfall took off from the port with over thirty shipgirls in their starship forms.

In the air, they skillfully formed a defensive formation: destroyers and cruisers on the flanks, battleships leading the charge, and carriers protected in the center. Cruising through the stratosphere at speeds of tens of Machs, their presence was formidable.

Shua—

Once the radar was activated, the area near the port was lit up with densely packed red dots, all marking Siren mass-produced ships.

These black-and-red warships were countless, their metallic hulls gleaming under the sunlight, emanating a chilling aura. Although individually no match for the shipgirls, their overwhelming numbers and firepower made them formidable when swarming together. Even fleet flagships struggled to withstand their onslaught.

However, against the starships, these mass-produced ships didn't even stand a chance to retaliate.

[Target locked.]

[Positron City-Breaker Cannon ready.]

[Charging in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1—]

Zzzzap—

Richelieu's main cannon fired a beam of violet energy several meters in diameter, slicing through several Siren ships on the sea as if cutting through butter. The intense heat of the beam instantly boiled the seawater, sending clouds of steam soaring hundreds of meters into the sky.

"So strong…"

Richelieu couldn't help but marvel at the power of the starship's weapons during her first battle in this form.

In the past, taking down such battleships would require several volleys from her main guns. Now, though her main cannon's caliber remained theoretically 380mm, its power had risen to an entirely new level. The positron city-breaker cannon, enhanced by the cognitive core, delivered an output far exceeding the standard version.

The aircraft carriers' fighters skimmed the ocean surface, their dazzling maneuvers making them untouchable by the Sirens' anti-aircraft fire.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Columns of water erupted skyward as hundreds of Siren warships were turned into scrap metal within moments.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, looking at it this way, the Eternal Snowfall might actually be the weakest one here," Setsuna chuckled aboard the flagship.

The shipgirls' weapons, bolstered by the cognitive core, were all modified versions, while the Eternal Snowfall was unmodified. There was still a clear gap in their destructive power.

"So those are your enemies? Looks like I could handle them too," Tohru said, her eyes glinting with eagerness as she saw the Sirens for the first time.

"Belfast keeps making me wash clothes, mop the floor, and clean—it's so boring. Commander, can I go and have a fight too?"

The maid dragon stared at Setsuna with eager eyes.

As a dragon skilled in destruction and havoc, being watched over by the head maid and forced to do household chores every day made her feel stifled. She desperately needed an outlet.

"Fine," Setsuna said, opening the hatch for her.

Tohru leapt out, spreading her wings mid-air and transforming into her true form.

A massive green dragon appeared above the ocean. While she wasn't as colossal as the starships, her size was still intimidating to the aircraft.

Boom—

Tohru skimmed the ocean's surface, spewing scorching dragonfire at the Siren warships. The surrounding hundred-kilometer radius turned into a fiery inferno.

The seawater boiled, and metal melted under the magical flames.

The shipgirls realized that while this dragon's cooking skills might be catastrophic, her combat power was remarkable.

Back in the Dragon Maid world, Tohru had claimed to have the power to destroy worlds and challenge gods—a boast clearly grounded in reality.

"I'm joining in too!!!"

Gudako, aboard the Eternal Snowfall, jumped into the fray with her Barbatos. After stacking a dozen buff spells on herself and her Gundam, she leaped out, wielding her hammer and spear to smash at the Siren warships.

Although her attack efficiency was dismal, with each blow barely managing to snap a gun barrel or punch a hole in the deck, she seemed to be thoroughly enjoying herself.

Setsuna couldn't help but marvel at how all the magical knowledge she learned in Chaldea seemed to have ended up imitating Fou's combat instincts.

Such a loyal fighting style suggested she'd be a legend among future boarding teams.

The mixed fleet of starships, dragons, heroic spirits, and Gundams quickly cleared the Sirens surrounding the port.

In under two hours, thousands of mass-produced ships and countless Siren aircraft were reduced to scrap or incinerated in the flames.

Centered on the port, a thousand-kilometer radius of ocean was completely cleared.

Looking out toward the deep sea, they could see denser formations of Sirens: massive fleets of battleships and carriers patrolling the waters.

For some reason—perhaps magic—Setsuna always felt that the regions where Sirens gathered en masse seemed ominously overcast, with darkened skies and seawater tainted black.

"Based on radar scans and prior reconnaissance, the Purifier should be roughly 220 nautical miles southeast…"

He glanced at the main console and sent the coordinates to all the shipgirls.

"Charge! Let's go capture the big-eyed cutie alive!!!"

Deep Sea Zone.

Hundreds of mass-produced ships patrolled the ocean, forming a rudimentary ring-shaped anti-air formation.

Due to repeated harassment from the port's fly-in shipgirl squadrons, the Sirens had taken to arranging box formations, with anti-air-heavy cruisers on the outer perimeter protecting battleships and carriers.

At the center of the ring lay a white-haired, yellow-eyed Siren shipgirl with long twin-tails, dressed in a sailor uniform.

Her skin was even fairer than that of the shipgirls, her expression lazy as she lounged atop her rigging, sunbathing.

"Ugh… so boring…"

"Where have all the port's shipgirls gone…"

The Purifier yawned and lazily stirred the seawater with her hand.

Her rigging was predominantly black and yellow, resembling a shark, with a structure that allowed her to sit comfortably on it.

Four main cannons stood upright on either side, capable of firing at both aerial and naval targets.

"This sea zone is so quiet. There aren't any shipgirls on the surface, completely different from before," she murmured as a bubble-blowing humanoid Siren next to her chimed in.

"Maybe they've all been reassigned somewhere else."

"But that doesn't concern us. We'll keep surrounding them, and once we take the main port—aren't I just the hardest-working shipgirl ever?"

The Purifier's monologue trailed off as she realized her words were sounding increasingly ominous. She decided to stop talking altogether.

Closing her eyes, she basked in the sunlight, ready to drift off.

"Ahhh…"

"Zzz…"

"Zzzz…"

Suddenly.

Boom—Boom—

Distant explosions broke the calm, accompanied by the roar of carrier-based aircraft and the thunderous engines of starships.

"???"

The Purifier, just slipping into dreamland, snapped her eyes open in confusion.

"Could it be the shipgirls from the port?"

"No way. I'm so far away. Even if they sent a fleet, the recon units should've given us a heads-up!"

She squinted into the distance.

On the far horizon, a fleet led by Richelieu and Eternal Snowfall was bearing down. The starships, equipped with positron siege cannons, energy weapons, and swarms of carrier-based aircraft, were systematically obliterating the Siren fleet.

They fought with a high-altitude advantage, rendering the Sirens' navy utterly helpless.

Most absurd of all, at the forefront of the fleet, a massive green-scaled dragon was rampaging across the sea, scorching Siren warships and the surrounding waters with relentless dragonfire.

"Am I still dreaming? Or did I stumble into the wrong story?!"

"Where did a dragon come from? And what's with that robot flying around with a hammer and spear?!"

The Purifier pinched her cheek. The sharp pain confirmed she was very much awake.

"This has to be a hallucination. Back to sleep."

She scratched her head and was about to lie back down.

Swish—

The Eternal Snowfall moved with incredible speed, stopping just ahead of her.

A hatch beneath the starship opened, and a blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl with an ahoge, dressed in a blue armored dress, descended gracefully.

Under the protection of the Lady of the Lake's blessing, Artoria could walk freely on water.

Drawing her holy sword, she began striding toward the Purifier across the waves.

"What now? Primitive humans with melee weapons?"

"Are you a shipgirl? Where's your rigging?"

The Purifier's words barely left her lips before Artoria raised her blade.

Blazing golden light enveloped the sword, transforming it into a radiant pillar stretching hundreds of meters long.

"Ex… Calibur!"
