Crossover: I Took In a Runaway High School Girl

Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Shiina Mahiru's Inner Turmoil

The morning air was still cool when Sayu Ogiwara quietly slipped out of bed. Her steps were light, trying not to wake the figure beside her. Her efforts, however, were in vain. Renji Kamisaka groaned softly, his eyes slightly opening to gaze at her with confusion.

"Why are you leaving so early?" Renji's voice was hoarse, typical of someone just waking up. He reached out, trying to grab Sayu. "Don't you want to sleep in the same bed as me?"

Sayu rolled her eyes, a small smile playing on her lips. "Isn't it for Shiina-san's feelings?" She whispered, her tone amused. "If she wakes up and sees me still in your room, she'll definitely be jealous, right?"

Renji chuckled softly, the laughter vibrating in his chest. "In that case, isn't Sayu jealous?"

Sayu's eyebrows rose confidently, her eyes sparkling mischievously. "Of course I'm jealous, so didn't I punish you severely last night?" She couldn't help but laugh as she said it, resting her head briefly on Renji's shoulder.

Renji merely looked at her helplessly, a faint smile on his lips. Punishment? Who was it that kept begging for mercy later on? Who was truly punishing whom? Still, he didn't want to prolong the argument. He simply opened his arms, a silent gesture.

Sayu's cheeks flushed, but her body was so honest. She took two steps forward and threw herself into Renji's warm embrace. Renji gently kissed the top of her head before letting her go.

"Alright, go ahead."

"Hmph, you have to coax Shiina well, or I'll punish you again." After saying that, Sayu darted out of the room in a puff of smoke, leaving a faint, fragrant trail.

After changing, Sayu began preparing breakfast. She knew Shiina probably wouldn't wake up early today, so she could monopolize Renji's affectionate breakfast. A triumphant smile etched itself on her lips.

Renji shook his head helplessly. Sayu actually asked him to coax Shiina Mahiru? Had the relationship between these two girls become so good? A mischievous thought flashed for a moment. Maybe he should have been a little more aggressive last night and 'eaten' Shiina Mahiru? However, he immediately shook his head again. Forget it. Compared to physical pleasure, spiritual redemption can make a relationship last longer.

He could see it. Last night, Shiina Mahiru had just been provoked by someone—old wounds from her family—and acted impulsively, spoiling him. If he really took advantage of the situation and "got" Shiina, and then if the girl regretted it later, it would leave an indelible mark on her heart. Renji didn't want Shiina to think his eyes were only on her body. What he valued, above all, was that little angel as a person.

Besides, last night wasn't lacking either. He hugged her. He kissed her. Except for the final step, he didn't miss anything a couple should do. Thinking of Shiina's sad expression yesterday, when she uttered the cute line, "My hand hurts," Renji's heart fluttered. He felt it was time to step up and strengthen their relationship, one step at a time.

In the next room, Shiina Mahiru was already awake. However, she felt as if she were bound by the overwhelming embarrassment. She didn't want to leave the room at all. The scene from yesterday kept replaying in her mind, swirling endlessly, every second feeling so real and humiliating.

How could she be so shameless...? She even acted spoiled towards Renji Kamisaka, curling up in his arms, not letting him go. And later, to keep him, she even kissed him. And... even used her hand...

"Ouch!" Shiina Mahiru covered her flushed cheeks with both hands, a muffled groan escaping her lips. She almost wanted to scratch the walls from sheer embarrassment. What should she do? Renji wouldn't think she was a very casual girl, would he? She tried to convince herself that she had maintained the last line of defense very well.

Thinking about this, she couldn't help but want to find a crack in the ground to crawl into. Never come out again.

She did protect it, true. Renji Kamisaka was also very gentle and considerate of her feelings. Knowing that she wasn't ready, Renji controlled himself. But later, seeing her become uncomfortable, Renji also extended a hand to her. This was the truth behind her falling into a deep sleep afterward.

"Knock, knock, knock, Shiina-san, are you awake?"

The gentle knocking broke the silence filled with Mahiru's anxiety, followed by the deep voice she now knew so well—the voice of that "bad guy." Shiina Mahiru's delicate body trembled instantly, her heart pounding erratically. She unconsciously replied nervously.

"I'm not awake yet!"

As soon as she said it, regret immediately washed over her. Stupid! Why did I say that?! Renji Kamisaka's teasing voice followed, a small laugh tucked within.

"Oh, so you're not awake yet, huh. Then who exactly is answering me, Shiina-san's inner voice?"

"That's not my inner voice! You... so early in the morning, what's wrong?" While suppressing her embarrassment, she wrapped her small body in the blanket as if it were a last fortress, staring at the door with a wary gaze.

"Well, nothing much. I just wanted to see you." Renji's tone softened. "Shiina-san, may I come in?"

"No!" She immediately refused his request, her voice almost shrill. She wasn't ready to face him, not after everything that happened last night.

"No? I'm so sad..." Renji's voice sounded sulky, but there was a trace of amusement beneath it.

Silence. Renji stopped talking, but Shiina Mahiru instead felt anxious. He wouldn't think I hate him, would he? No, that's not it. She was just embarrassed by what happened last night and ashamed to see him. Thinking he might have misunderstood, Shiina could only quickly get out of bed, her legs still feeling heavy, and open the door.

But, she saw Renji standing in the doorway, looking at her with a smile, a smile that radiated like the morning sun, yet made her cheeks even redder.

"Good morning, Shiina-san."

"Umm... good morning, Renji-kun." She replied blankly, wanting to explain that she hadn't meant to hate him earlier, but the words caught in her throat. So tangled. She lowered her head, not daring to look into Renji's eyes at all.

Until a warm sensation came from above her head—a gentle touch on her hair. She raised her head and stared blankly at the boy who was touching her head. By the time she reacted, Renji had already opened his arms and hugged her.

"Don't hate me, okay?" Renji's gentle, almost pleading voice, melted her tangled heart. Her body became soft, resigned in his embrace. The girl unconsciously reached out and hugged Renji's neck.

"I... I don't hate you." The words she had been too embarrassed to say earlier, now in this warm embrace, she could say them frankly.

"Really? But you just said you didn't want to see me." Renji looked straight at her, showing a slightly exaggerated hurt expression, a teasing smile playing at the corner of his lips.

Shiina Mahiru panicked. "No, I... I just wasn't ready to see you then, I don't hate you."

"I don't believe you, unless Shiina-san proves it to me." Renji demanded, his tone soft yet understanding, his eyes sparkling.

"Umm, how do I prove it?" Mahiru asked, her voice small and innocent, curiosity mixed with embarrassment.

Renji looked at her cute appearance and couldn't help but slowly lower his head, moving closer. By the time the girl reacted, Renji had already gently kissed her lips.

"Prove it like this."

Shiina Mahiru felt a warm temperature on her lips, an intoxicating and unfamiliar sensation. Her cute face immediately turned beet red, heat spreading throughout her body. She panicked and instinctively placed her hands on the man's chest, trying to push him away. But after symbolically pushing him lightly, and not moving him, she seemed to surrender to her own feelings. Instead, her slender, snow-white arms wrapped tightly around Renji's neck. She drowned in the heart-pounding kiss, an unexpected whirlwind of emotions.

It shouldn't be that hard to deal with him, should it? This guy has always been like this since the first time she met him. So gentle with her. Even though he's sometimes very stubborn, he can tolerate all her awkward expressions. He's too cunning. He can always easily figure out her mood, then tease her, using this warm embrace to trap her. Making her no longer able to escape the sweet trap he gives. This guy must be mocking her. Even if she likes him, she still has to try to keep him away insincerely. However, this effort didn't last a few seconds, and she returned to hugging him tightly, as if she couldn't bear to leave him.

For a long time, their lips parted, leaving only gasping breaths and a meaningful silence. Renji Kamisaka gently stroked the golden-haired girl in his arms, whose face was still flushed.

"Time to wake up, Shiina."

Mahiru helplessly raised her hand and lightly hit him on the chest. "How can I wake up if you're hugging me like this?"

"Haha, my fault, I thought you weren't awake yet." Renji chuckled, his smile charming. "So, are you awake now? If you're not awake, I want to continue..."

"No! I'm fully awake. Don't bother me!" She glared at him in annoyance, but didn't dare to meet his gaze, and immediately lowered her head again, like a cute quail.

Renji Kamisaka's lips curved into a smile, pleased with her adorable appearance. Seeing that Mahiru was no longer sad or upset, he let out a sigh of relief, then carried her to the room and sat her on the bed.

"Then hurry up and come out, Sayu has almost finished breakfast."

"Mm, I know. I'm not a child, I don't need you to remind me to wake up." She puffed out her cheeks and looked at Renji with an annoyed expression. Mentioning Sayu made her feel very guilty now. She had clearly said she wouldn't fall in love with Renji Kamisaka. But now... she couldn't hold back from kissing him at all. In fact... she even had the urge to continue.

Shiina Mahiru secretly cursed herself for being shameless. But when she saw Renji's back, she felt warmth in her heart. Shameless, then be shameless. Yes, just like this.

With a slight "what the heck" attitude, Shiina Mahiru finally gathered her courage, changed into a cream-colored dress, and then walked out of the room, pretending to be calm.

After washing the dishes, she came to the kitchen and saw Sayu Ogiwara still busy, so she immediately put on her own apron.

"Sayu, I'll help too."

Sayu Ogiwara smiled and nodded. "Alright." She glanced at Mahiru with a small smirk. "Looks like Renji Kamisaka will get to taste Shiina's love-filled cooking again today."

Shiina Mahiru lowered her head, her face flushing. But surprisingly, she didn't refute the statement. Sayu Ogiwara immediately understood something, her smile widening.

As the soup was simmering, Sayu leaned close to Shiina Mahiru's ear, her voice a mischievous whisper. "Last night, how was Renji Kamisaka?"

"Ah! Sayu, I... what are you talking about?" Such direct words made Shiina Mahiru blush shyly, and her body trembled slightly, surprised.

Sayu Ogiwara rolled her eyes, her tone playful. "Don't tell me you two didn't do anything last night." She whispered again, in a more provocative tone, "The first time does hurt, don't tell me it didn't hurt at all."

Actually, Sayu said it intentionally, she certainly knew Renji Kamisaka didn't really go through with it last night. She just wanted to see Shiina Mahiru's embarrassed expression, it was quite amusing.

Shiina Mahiru's cheeks were the color of a boiled shrimp, and steam was still rising from her head. "We... we... didn't do that." Shiina Mahiru bit her lip, still holding back her embarrassment to answer.

Sayu Ogiwara immediately pouted, feigning disappointment. "Then, he really does like you, to be able to hold back like that." She then sighed, with a hint of genuine bitterness, "I was in pain for quite some time back then."

"I... I... I'm sorry..." Shiina Mahiru lowered her head, completely speechless, feeling guilty for Sayu's old wound.

"You idiot, why apologize? From the beginning, I said I didn't mind." Sayu Ogiwara smiled gently and hugged Shiina Mahiru softly, an embrace full of understanding. "I think we're both very similar, both children not loved by our parents, and both lucky to have met Renji Kamisaka." She released the hug, then looked at Mahiru with sincere eyes. "From now on, let's be good friends."

Sayu Ogiwara's generosity surprised Shiina Mahiru greatly, but hearing those words immediately made her feel much better, a burden on her chest slightly lifted. "Alright, please guide me from now on."

As they were preparing breakfast, the two girls reached an agreement, an unexpected new bond forming between them amidst the hustle and bustle of the kitchen.

Seeing Shiina Mahiru silently agreeing to get along well with her, Sayu Ogiwara leaned close to her ear again, her tone cunning. "Are you sure you don't want to try with Renji Kamisaka soon?" She then sighed dramatically, "Misaki-senpai and I really can't hold on any longer."

"I... I don't understand what you're saying, I'll go get the plates!" Shiina Mahiru ran out of the kitchen as if to escape, her face bright red.

Meanwhile, Sayu Ogiwara covered her mouth and chuckled. Shiina Mahiru was truly innocent. It seemed Renji Kamisaka liked this kind of atmosphere. She thought she could try another pure style next time too.

At breakfast, Shiina Mahiru buried her head in her rice, not daring to look into Renji Kamisaka's eyes at all, still embarrassed. Renji looked at Sayu Ogiwara in confusion, his eyebrows raised in question. What happened to you two?

Sayu Ogiwara's lips curved, and she winked at Renji playfully, as if to say, You guess.

Renji rolled his eyes, he wouldn't guess. Anyway, as long as he didn't lose, it was fine. And Shiina's shy appearance was also very pleasing to the eye. Renji Kamisaka wasn't confused at all. The kiss this morning proved it. Shiina Mahiru had feelings for him in her heart. Or rather, she had started to depend on him.

After eating, Renji Kamisaka sat on the sofa to digest. Meanwhile, Sayu Ogiwara went shopping with Misaki Kamiigusa, Misaki's overflowing excitement already palpable from her energetic footsteps. Chihiro Sengoku was still fast asleep in her room, completely oblivious to her phone's occasional ringing.

However, Shiina Mahiru remained in the living room. Now she felt an intense chaos within her. She clearly didn't like playboys. But why did she agree to Sayu Ogiwara's proposal to get along?

The girl sighed, hugging her small teddy bear and resting her chin on it, seeking comfort. After thinking for a moment, her mood was still very complicated. Love is selfish. After confirming that she didn't hate Renji Kamisaka and wouldn't hold back from kissing him, Shiina Mahiru also began to seriously consider the possibility of being with him.

However, imagining him having other girls made her feel sour inside, a small, uncomfortable sting. It was fine before. Their relationship wasn't too close, so she didn't care about his cheating. But now it was different. How she wished this man would only focus on her.

A moment later, Shiina Mahiru carefully walked out of her room, peeking into the living room. Seeing Renji lying on the sofa, she bit her lip and walked closer. She sat down beside him.

The girl wasn't stupid. She certainly understood. Sayu Ogiwara took Misaki Kamiigusa out just to create an opportunity for her and Renji Kamisaka to spend time together.

Sitting beside him, the girl couldn't help but show an annoyed look. Why couldn't he be more dedicated? Hmm. It seems that wouldn't work either. Sayu Ogiwara had already said it. Even she and Misaki-senpai together couldn't handle this guy.

Then she looked at her own delicate and beautiful body, like a little angel. Alright. She clearly couldn't handle it. Come to think of it now, her little hand still hurt a bit.

As she was pondering, a force came from her waist—a hand embraced her.

"Oh!" She instinctively cried out in surprise, feeling herself being lifted.

By the time she reacted, she was already held by Renji and sitting on his lap. Renji smiled as he observed the small and adorable Angel-sama. Perhaps to make breakfast, she had tied her hair into a high ponytail, which was now slightly messy. Combined with her angelic face, radiating a fresh beauty, it made Renji's heart pound.

"What? Are you scared?" Renji smiled, wrapping his arms around her slender waist to prevent her from leaving, his warm breath fanning her delicate earlobe.

A blush crept onto Shiina Mahiru's cheeks, and she couldn't help but raise her hand and lightly punch Renji's chest. "You suddenly hugged me, anyone would be surprised, right?!"

"Sorry, that's because you were staring at me blankly, and I thought you'd like it." Renji replied in a teasing tone, his eyes twinkling mischievously.

"..." Mahiru opened her mouth, then lowered her head and said nothing. She couldn't say she didn't like it, nor did she feel comfortable admitting that she actually liked it. So she could only pretend to be a quail, her cheeks flushing even redder.

Renji Kamisaka looked at her shy appearance and couldn't help but bring his lips closer. Gently covering the girl's beautiful red lips. A slow, soft, and meaningful kiss.

Shiina Mahiru's eyes became moist, her body trembled slightly, and she tightly closed her beautiful eyes, as if silently agreeing to his closeness, surrendering to feelings she could no longer deny. She didn't resist at all.
