Chapter 2: 02.The contract
'Azathoth?'
Victor was slightly stunned as his previous memories began to surface within his mind.
This was one of the many gods in the game's background.
He only appeared as a character in the game's background, and was only mentioned in the storybooks of the collection quests.
No one had ever seen his true form.
According to the records inside the game's story, every time Azathoth appeared, he brought woe.
There was once the worst account, where the last appearance of Azathoth cut the world's human population in half!
This was a very evil and terrifying god.
"Of course, you can also call me by my current name, Vega."
The raven who called himself Vega very politely shielded his wings in front of his chest and bowed.
Victor couldn't pinpoint the other party's mind, so he didn't respond.
Seeing Victor's silence, Vega fluttered his wings and righted his posture.
"Interesting, I see you've heard of me."
Victor: "No."
To be honest, he understood very well that it wasn't a good thing to be haunted by a god, it was something that was recognized among players.
Especially this kind of evil god that existed in the backstory seemed dangerous.
But why, would an Evil God that had never appeared in the game's plot seek Victor out in advance?
Vega opened his beak, and a voice as hoarse as a crow's grabbed him:
"You are not Victor, your soul is not dirty enough."
One of its single eyes stared at Viktor, trying to see a hint of 'panic' on his face, but Viktor's usual icy demeanor failed it.
"A god is able to see into the soul."
It said.
"But it's okay, I'm here for you."
Vega shook his feather and a thin black feather fell onto the table, turning into a black piece of paper with white streaks twisting and turning to start forming a bunch of words, as if it were a demonic pact.
Victor had a bit of a headache looking at the paper.
He had only just arrived in this world and hadn't done anything, and he ended up taking on two contracts in one day.
What the hell kind of luck was this?
He took the paper and looked at it while mockingly saying:
"Aren't you a god? Already fallen into such a state?"
It hadn't occurred to him that even gods had to come out to sign clients.
What was written on this contract was a contract that if he signed his word, he would have to supply this crow with food, clothing, shelter and transportation, and would even have to help him build a church and develop believers for this bit of evil god.
The contract said that the more believers it had, the more powerful it would become.
And then, no more.
Victor: "..."
The overlord contract wasn't even this outrageous, providing you with food and shelter, as well as finding you believers, and as a result, you raked in the benefits and I got nothing?
He looked speechlessly at the crow, which was elegantly pecking its feathers like a noble bird.
If only one could ignore its one eye.
"My power is sealed for the most part, I can only seek refuge in others, take this deal and you will receive the friendship of a god."
"Good for you."
Vega purred as he continued to peck at the feathers on his body.
Victor was speechless, the friendship of a god? There's a shitload of use for that.
The crow glanced at him with its one-eyed gaze, as if it could see what was in his mind, and faintly said, "It can save your life."
"Deal!"
Victor sparingly signed his big name on the contract of deed.
He wasn't too worried about being screwed over, as gods always did what they said they would do.
Even evil gods.
Well! It was actually that he had no choice at all! He'd be decapitated soon enough according to the story, and it wasn't like he himself was a Deadman who could stay undead!
Signing the contract, he felt a very subtle connection arise between them.
It was as if he was able to find out where this raven was with just a thought.
The crow flew to Victor's shoulder and pecked its feathers again.
What he said to Leah was exactly right, keeping a crow as a pet really wasn't in good taste.
But he was new here and the contract had all been signed, so let's just pretend that he had a pet with no taste.
It was only necessary to provide it with food and shelter anyway.
As for the church, just spend money to build one later.
He turned his head to the other contract on the side, which also required his signature.
This was the contract of the Advanced Magic Academy, sincerely inviting the protagonist to go ahead and become a teacher at the academy, putting and promising the title of professor.
He then remembered that although Victor was a villain, he was also a magical genius.
While countless aged mages were stuck at the second rank, Victor had already reached the third rank at the age of twenty.
And when converted to the game ...
A game panel appeared in front of Victor's eyes as he mumbled in his mind.
[Name: Victor Klevena].
LV: 39
HP: 1000/1000
MP: 4900/4900
Standard mage template, high damage but at the same time easy to kill, HP and defense were definitely inferior to knights.
This confirmed his suspicion that he had really traveled inside the game.
Third-ranked mages, corresponding to levels 30~39 in the game, and beyond that it was by analogy.
And in the backstory, Victor hadn't refined for nine years, and the name of genius had long been forgotten by the world.
It was only after crossing over to Victor's body that he realized that he was hiding his clumsiness.
The experience bar for upgrading had accumulated an unknown amount, and he could have easily crossed the threshold of the third rank and jumped to the level of a fourth rank holy mage.
But Victor hadn't been, he had been plotting a game all along.
Although his character was not good, the name of genius was real.
This contract, it had to be signed!
Let's not talk about the fact that this title was fought for by his sister and fiancée.
Having the title of professor was equivalent to having the shelter of a magic academy, and the duke's side wouldn't be able to easily get himself into trouble.
At least, on the surface, he needed a reasonable excuse.
An underage daughter being confessed to by a dark noble? This reason couldn't hold water.
Everyone loves beauty, is your daughter not going to marry for the rest of her life?
Victor lifted his pen and signed his name on the contract, asking the maid to send it to the magic academy there, then stood up and walked towards the backyard of the mansion.
Vega finally stopped pecking at his feathers and asked what he was planning to do to get there.
Without turning his head, Victor told it:
"I'm going to school tomorrow to become a teacher and practice my magic so I don't get rusty."
"Take me with you."
Vega stood on his shoulder, chattering away.
In the blink of an eye, they arrived at the martial arts field, where several huge stone targets stood.
Victor raised his head and looked at the Prime's huge stone statues with some surprise in his heart.
In the game, the backyard of the player's home had the same kind of magical boulders that were used to increase skill proficiency.
The boulder would pop up damage numbers, and depending on the damage numbers, one could distinguish the skill proficiency, as well as one's own attribute practice level.
Now that the backyard of Victor's mansion was similarly seeing this kind of thing, his heart couldn't help but feel some emotion.
Vega looked at him and froze for a moment, thinking that he hadn't practiced for so long that he could be shocked by the target.
Then it started to really chatter like a crow.
"Magic, ah, this kind of thing takes a lot of skill ....."
Giving Victor a lot of things to talk about, such as how to release it to save energy and how to make it more powerful.
The raven shook his feathers, "If I didn't have no power, high and low to show you a powerful higher magic."
Victor didn't say anything, letting it continue to spit.
Turning his eyes to look at the skill list, the results made him feel very satisfied.
Some of the magic that Victor was able to use, he had already mastered long ago.
As the final boss of the second chapter of the game's story [Kingdom Rebellion], he was a level that all players needed to experience.
For him, Victor's skills had long been memorized.
With a random movement from the Boss, he knew what his opponent was going to do next.
Vega was still chirping, "There are a lot of points to pay attention to with magic! Drawing spells, chanting speed ....."
Before he could finish his sentence, Victor raised his hand and with a bang, a black lightning bolt burst out.
[First Order Spell: Black Thunder Gun]
There was no change at all on Victor's face, as if casting magic was as simple as eating, drinking and going to the toilet in his eyes.
Then, all kinds of second-order and third-order skills, just like fireworks, kept leaving traces on top of the boulders.
As if bombarding it indiscriminately, the entire backyard shone amazingly brightly.
Vega stood on Victor's shoulder and didn't say anything.
Victor looked at his MP that had bottomed out, feeling less than satisfied.
The Boss's body plate was just weak, there was no endurance after releasing such a small amount of skills.
The staying power needed to be improved.
If a player wore a bunch of equipment, the endurance would easily be tens of thousands, and they would still need to save mana?
"You don't need to draw spells to put out spells?"
Victor ignored him.
The mage profession was known as a spell machine gun amongst players.
Because of the spell formations in the game's set values, players didn't need to operate them at all.
All they needed to do was click a shortcut, read the forward swing, and the skill was released with a 'whoosh'.
And a substitute trainer like him, who had played every profession, had long been skilled in any profession.
Release a spell? Wasn't that something that could be done at the drop of a hat?
Seeing that he had been able to perfectly grasp the release of skills, Victor prepared to leave.
Vega suddenly spoke, "Don't be in a hurry to leave, your method of releasing this spell intrigues me, why don't you release it for a little longer?"
Victor didn't pay any attention to him.
Do you think this is fireworks? You can release them whenever you want.
Just as this thought arose in his mind, his gaze glanced over and he saw Vega's one eye light up with a dazzling blue that wrapped around his body.
He felt as if a rope had been tied between his body and and the raven.
Victor pulled up the panel and re-read it.
MP: 995099/999999
He looked down at Vega.
What the hell! Hang on! This could be ... so damn exciting!
