Crazy Detective: I Have The System To Change The World.

Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Seeing what is happening made Kai Shock and at the same time anger coursed through his veins like ice water.

His enhanced senses were overwhelmed with the scene - the metallic smell of gun, the sharp tang of fear-sweat in the air, the rapid-fire heartbeats of terrified shoppers.

"Another day, another group of scum,"

he said to himself, his jaw clenching beneath his hood.

"Is this what you want me to see, Nemesis? How many monsters walk among us in broad daylight and the police does little to nothing?"

"EVERYONE ON THE GROUND! NOW!"

The command bounced off the fluorescent-lit walls, making a small boy near the cereal aisle burst into tears.

Kai watched as humanity folded around him. A young mother hit her knees hard, yanking her son behind a display of canned goods. An elderly man with a cane struggled to lower himself, his weathered face twisted in pain.

A teenage girl in a barista uniform dropped like a puppet with cut strings, her phone clattering across the floor.

But Kai remained standing, feeling the power of Nemesis humming through his muscles.

His fingers tightened around his egg and his grocery cart until his vein started popping out.

Under his hood, his eyes tracked every movement, his system interface highlighting weapons and threat levels in cool blue outlines.

"What's wrong with you?"

The leader's attention snapped to Kai, his pupils dilated with adrenaline or drugs.

He pressed the rifle harder against the cashier's temple, making her whimper.

"You got a death wish, tough guy?"

At that moment the cashier's eye gaze at Kai - terrified, silently pleading. A name tag trembled on her uniform.

"Just like last yesterday,"

Kai said to himself, his blood beginning to boil.

"Another innocent person threatened by human garbage."

"I SAID GET DOWN!"

The leader's voice cracked with rage.

"GET ON THE GROUND OR I'LL PAINT THE WALL WITH HER BRAINS!"

At that moment Kai's lips curved in a cold smile beneath his hood. His system interface was already calculating trajectories, marking vital points, suggesting optimal attack patterns.

'You have no idea what you've walked into,'

he thought to himself, settling into a slightly wider stance.

'No idea what's standing in front of you.'

"Why?"

Kai's voice carried a deadly calm, even as rage boiled beneath the surface.

His hooded face remained downturned, conscious of the cameras above.

'Can't let them see me. Not yet. But I won't let this continue.'

"Why terrorize innocent people buying groceries?"

His enhanced hearing picked up every terrified breath, every racing heartbeat around him. A child's muffled sob made his fists clench more harder.

"What kind of coward brings guns to threaten mothers and children?"

Upon hearing what Kai just said, the leader turned even more deadly.

"You got a death wish, tough guy?" The leader's bloodshot eyes narrowed.

Kai's system interface highlighted the slight tremor in the man's trigger finger - definitely high on something.

"Scum,'

Kai thought, disgust rising in his throat as he dropped his egg.

"Getting high before terrorizing innocent people."

He said to himself.

"I'll teach you how to keep your mouth shut and obey simple orders!"

immediately The leader stormed forward, boots squeaking against the polished floor. His rifle raised like a club, his face contorted with drug-fueled rage.

At that moment time slowed for Kai. His enhanced senses processed everything - the leader's irregular heartbeat, the sweat beading on his forehead, the way his weight was poorly distributed. The system interface painted target points in cool blue light across the man's body.

'Amateur. Sloppy. Overconfident.'

A cold smile touched Kai's lips beneath his hood.

'Let me show you what real training looks like.'

Kai's hand shot out, gripping the rifle barrel. The leader's eyes had time only to widen in shock before Kai's boot connected with his chest, sending him crashing down with a satisfying crack of ribs meeting the floor.

immediately the other gunmen reacted, but too slowly. Their military training meant nothing against Nemesis power.

Kai moved like a shadow through their ranks.

"BANG!"

"BANG!"

"BANG!"

"BANG!"

Four shots, four bodies hitting the ground. Clean, precise, efficient.

"Wait! Please!"

The leader scrambled backward, leaving a trail of blood from his broken nose. His facade of toughness dissolved into raw terror. "I have money! Connections! I can pay–"

"Money?"

Kai's voice dripped with contempt. "You think money fixes this?"

His enhanced vision caught the security camera's red light blinking above.

'Time to end this.'

The strike was surgical - temple, perfect pressure point. The leader's eyes rolled back as he crumpled, his pleading cut short.

'Justice,'

Kai thought, standing among the fallen bodies.

'doesn't take bribes, I'm the judge.'

At that moment applause exploded through the store, making Kai flinch beneath his hood. His enhanced hearing picked up every clap, every whisper.

"thank you,"

every sob of relief. The sound made his skin crawl - he wasn't here for recognition.

"Keep it together,"

he muttered to himself, tilting his face downward.

"No cameras, no witnesses, no face must see this face."

"Sir!"

Sarah, the cashier, called out as he tried to pay quickly.

Her hands still trembled, but her voice was steady.

"Please, you can't pay for these. Not after what you did for us."

Her eyes shone with tears of gratitude.

Kai's fingers tightened around his wallet.

"It's not necessary-"

"I'll handle this bill,"

A well-dressed older man stepped forward, his expensive suit dusty from the floor.

"Everyone here owes you their lives. Please, let me do this small thing."

'Now I'm getting too much attention,'

Kai thought, his jaw clenching. The security cameras above felt like spotlights burning into his hood.

At that moment the sirens started growing louder outside and made Kai pulse quicken.

"Thank you,"

he managed gruffly, gathering his stuff into his bag. As he moved toward the exit, people parted like water, some reaching out to touch his sleeve in gratitude.

A small boy tugged at his mother's hand, pointing.

"Mom, is he a superhero?"

But as he pushed through the automatic doors, his enhanced senses picked up a familiar engine sound - the distinctive rumble of a modified police cruiser.

immediately his blood ran cold.

The black and white vehicle pulled into the parking lot, and Kai's face turned even more deadly.

Behind the wheel, stepping out with practiced efficiency, was Leo.
