Crazy Detective: I Have The System To Change The World.

Chapter 19: Chapter 19

Kai's fists slammed against the cold metal table, the cuffs around his wrists clinking loudly. His eyes burned with frustration as he leaned forward, glaring at the man across from him.

"You don't have any evidence!" he snapped, his voice sharp and unwavering. "How can you lock me in here without proof? You think I'm just going to sit here and take this?"

The man across from him didn't flinch, his expression as stoic as ever. But before he could respond, the faint creak of the door opening drew both their attention. A figure emerged from the shadows near the doorway, their steps measured and deliberate.

The newcomer stopped just inside the room, their voice calm but laced with an edge of accusation.

"The police might not have evidence, but you disappeared for days. And now, you show up conveniently, just as everything is over."

Kai's jaw tightened as the words hung in the air, heavy with implication. His mind raced, but his expression remained locked in defiance.

At that moment Kai's eyes snapped to the doorway, his anger momentarily giving way to surprise. Standing there, framed by the harsh light of the interrogation room, was a man Kai recognized instantly. His sharp features, neatly combed hair, and calm, piercing gaze were unmistakable.

"Steve George," the man seated across from Kai said, gesturing toward the doorway.

"I assume you've heard of him?"

Kai swallowed hard, his mind racing. Steve George wasn't just any detective—he was a legend, one of the country's finest.

The man Kai had admired from afar, studying his cases and methods. A man he once aspired to be like now standing in front on him.

Steve stepped into the room, his movements deliberate, his presence commanding. His gaze locked on Kai, assessing him with the kind of scrutiny that made even seasoned criminals crack.

"He'll be handling your case," the man across the table added, his tone final. With that, he stood and left, leaving Kai alone with the detective he had once idolized.

For the first time since the interrogation began, Kai felt a flicker of doubt creep into his chest.

He wasn't sure if you can keep his pretending futures.

But at the same time with the way things are happening so quickly Leo words wasn't a joke.

He was damn serious which made him more curious now, who truly was behind the child trafficking.

At that moment Kai's heartbeat quickened, but he kept his face impassive, his breathing measured. 'Stay calm,'

he told himself.

'They've got nothing. No evidence, no case.'

His confidence in that fact was his anchor, even as the presence of Steve George rattled him deep down.

Steve walked into the room casually, as though he had all the time in the world. He didn't sit immediately, instead pacing slowly around the table, his hands clasped behind his back. His sharp eyes studied Kai, dissecting him without saying a word. The silence stretched, pressing down on Kai like a heavy weight.

Finally, Steve spoke, his tone calm but cutting.

"Even if you didn't pull the trigger, there's a 99% chance you helped the people who did."

He stopped pacing and leaned slightly forward, resting his hands on the table.

At that moment His eyes locked onto Kai's, unyielding.

"One way or another, you were involved."

immediately Kai's jaw tightened, but he said nothing. His mind raced, dissecting the accusation, searching for a crack he could exploit.

However Steve straightened, his tone shifting to one of cold disappointment.

"You were a cop, Kai. A damn good one. You know better than anyone that a cop doesn't do things like this. A cop doesn't turn his back on the badge."

The words hung in the air, cutting deeper than Kai expected.

He clenched his fists beneath the table, careful to keep his face unreadable.

'Let him talk, he thought. They still don't have anything.'

He said to himself.

Steve's voice grew colder, each word slicing into the tension that filled the room.

"You let everything get to your head, Kai. Betrayal—yeah, I've been there too. But it doesn't mean the law can be taken into your own hands."

At that moment he leaned forward, his hands pressing against the table.

"And don't think for a second that your timing isn't suspicious. You walk in today, just as the dust settles, after everything's over. That's not a coincidence, and you know it."

However Kai still remained silent, his gaze steady as Steve's words rolled over him.

Steve sighed, shaking his head as though he were addressing a lost cause.

"Here's the deal. I can push for leniency. Maybe a three-year sentence, tops. You cooperate, tell me who those professionals were, and I make sure it doesn't get worse than that."

Upon hearing what Steve just said Kai couldn't help but smile, for some reason Steve didn't say anything, or could it be the system made him smarter.

He leaned back in his chair, crossing one leg over the other.

The confidence in his posture was unmistakable, his calm demeanor a deliberate counter to Steve's intensity.

"Do you have evidence?"

he asked, his tone casual, almost dismissive.

Steve froze for a moment, his expression darkening. Before he could respond, Kai's lips curved into a faint smirk. "If you don't have evidence," he said, his voice steady and controlled, "then there's nothing else to talk about."
