Convergence Recap

Previously, on "Convergence"

An eldritch entity finds itself reborn in mortal form—as Sasuke Uchiha. His new life is marked by darkness and agony: his family, his entire clan, is slaughtered by his brother, Itachi. Hatred festers. Despair takes root. Sasuke’s soul, now awakened, becomes something unfathomable.

From the shadows, Danzo grows wary. He senses the danger of a young Uchiha with eyes too powerful for someone so broken. When Hokage Hiruzen refuses to act, Danzo tries to seize Sasuke’s Mangekyou himself. He fails—Sasuke’s skills proving far more formidable than the old hawk predicted. It becomes clear to Konoha’s leadership: Sasuke is a threat that cannot be ignored, but for now, the council decides to let sleeping beasts lie.

Sasuke joins Team 7 with Naruto and Sakura, under Kakashi’s wary eye. As they grow as shinobi, the Chūnin Exams reveal what’s lurking beneath Sasuke’s skin. His power outstrips that of his peers. Orochimaru, coveting Sasuke as his perfect vessel, makes his move—but the snake is humbled, his greed repelled. And yet, Sasuke sees potential in the defeated sannin and, driven by his own ambitions, agrees to an alliance against Konoha. In the shadows, his blood clone seizes Gato’s shipping company, laying a foundation for something far greater.

Itachi’s shadow looms large, and when the young Uchiha returns to Konoha, brother faces brother. Amaterasu burns, Sasuke’s arm is lost, but Itachi’s partner Kisame pays with his life. The weasel escapes, but the die is cast—Konoha now knows Sasuke’s potential, and they fear it. Suspicions grow. Hokage Hiruzen, Danzo, the entire council debates: how long until Sasuke becomes a danger too great to ignore? Tsunade returns to treat Kakashi—himself crippled under mysterious circumstances. The elders suspect Sasuke’s involvement and hope the Jonin might testify against his former student.

In the dark, Danzo resurrects Tobirama Senju—the Second Hokage summoned to deal with the young Uchiha. Alas, even the undead Kage underestimates his foe. The battle forces Tobirama into retreat, the village’s fears confirmed—Sasuke is an apocalyptic force in the making.

The time for subtlety ends. Sasuke gathers an army through Orochimaru’s contacts, consolidating power. He manipulates Kirigakure through economic strangleholds and seals a secret alliance with Nadeshiko Village, taking one of their kunoichi as a concubine in exchange for their allegiance. As his preparations reach a climax, Sasuke makes his move against Konoha. In an earth-shattering confrontation, he seizes Nine-Tails chakra, and his perfected Susanoo obliterates Konoha’s defences, leaving the once-mighty village in smoking ruins. The truth about the Uchiha massacre, about Konoha’s use of forbidden jutsu, emerges amidst the carnage. The village’s reputation crumbles.

The shattered Konoha negotiates—a desperate gambit for time. They offer Sasuke intel on Itachi in exchange for a week of respite. Itachi hides in Amegakure, and Sasuke knows it’s a trap—but he goes anyway. Konoha forces and several Akatsuki members implicated in the assault attempt to kill him, but they’re no match. Sasuke battles them off and captures his brother. True to his word, he grants Konoha their week of peace, a final mercy before his blade falls again.

War sweeps the shinobi world. Sunagakure, unwittingly pulled into the fray by Sasuke and Orochimaru’s schemes, marches against Konoha. Kirigakure, Otogakure, all fall in line. Iwagakure, fearing the loss of strategic advantage, joins in. Kumogakure, meanwhile, prepares for an invasion from the north. The Fourth Shinobi War ignites, a maelstrom set to swallow every nation whole.

And what of Naruto Uzumaki? The sidelined hero, once destined to bring peace, now bent on bringing a literal force of nature to justice? The tale continues on…

Metamorphosis.
