Chapter 101
They continued, all the soldiers were on the all-time alert, as per Fendrel's order. They were advancing slowly, however, because of their armor that was made of metal, it produces a sound. Since the day the dwarves started producing the armors and weapons. Half of the soldiers were already armed from head to toe. There was no design yet, Fendrel didn't bother about the design. As long as they had armor to protect their bodies, and enhanced their capabilities, it's all good to him.
The Knights, have full body armor. As for the archer and thieves, they have the same armor. A leather armor made from the Rocky Bears hides, and a little bit of metal. The swordsman's armor was not too light, and not too heavy, enough for them to move freely unhindered. Whereas the Barbarians, just like the Knight had full body armor. However, in comparison to the Knights, their armor was much thicker and heavier. For a Tier 1 and Tier 2 Barbarian, 110 pounds armor was like wearing regular armor to them, so it was not a problem.
The first time he saw his soldiers lining up wearing silver armor, although the armor looked crude and unpolished. Still, he can't help but be proud. Of course, it's all thanks to the two Dwarves, furthermore, the villagers who helped the dwarves forging the armors and weapons. Mostly, the Orcs were the ones that really passionate about becoming a Blacksmith.
Fendrel thought that might be because of their robust body and strength. Whereas the goblins were short and weak to hammer the heavy hammer. As for the Lizardman's they can't stay in the hot environment too long. Even though they had one percent of dragon blood, however, that's it, they were still lizards that were fond of humid habitat. Though living in the dry land won't affect them much as long as there's food to hunt, they still prefer to live in a humid environment.
As they continued, Cobz who was now in charge of the soldiers can't help but frown. Cobz was the Troll that first to advance to Tier 2 among the Troll soldiers of the system. Of course not including the Goblin who was also a swordsman.
As for the Orcs which was previously a swordsman, were now barbarians. Fendrel makes them change their class because being a swordsman not really a suitable class for them, because of their innate strength. However, since he doesn't have a barbarian change class that the natives of this world used. He was skeptical at first if their former swordsman classes would change just by Franco teaching them the way of barbarians manually.
He was testing by teaching them manually without the help of parchment used by the natives if their class would change.
After days of teaching and torture, the system finally responds. The result was successful, there was finally an Orc that manages to change his swordsman class to barbarians.
-------
It was Cobz's first time leading a battalion, and the nerve-racking thing was Fendrel was with him. So, he was kind of nervous and thrilled at the same time. Because he has now a chance to give a good impression to Fendrel. However, now that something unexpected happened to the scouts. He becomes worried that Fendrel might be dissatisfied with his performance.
He was not even sure if those two Scouts were still alive. As they continue Cobz began to have a premonition, everything was just too quiet. If he remembered correctly, this should be the exact spot where the scouts would stop.
He already ordered the remaining thieves to find the two Scouts that were missing, dead or alive. However, they reported that they didn't find a body. Then, one of the thieves abruptly reported that he found drops of blood on a tree. Hearing it Gobz immediately ordered everyone to gather.
"All the Knights be ready!! And prepare for any ambushed!!. All the Thieves hide in the trees to take cover!!..." A series of commands reverberated in the area.
Gobz commanded everyone to encircle the carriage to protect Fendrel. Fendrel on the other hand was about to recall the carriage to help the soldiers, stopped. Thinking about it carefully, he throws the idea of helping them. If he always tried to help his soldiers, that would limit their growth as proper elite soldiers. That was molded by hardened battles, and not by becoming stronger by gaining levels.
He always treated his soldiers with care, since in his mind, every one of these soldiers was very important to him. Getting a soldier point was hard, compared to when he was still in the game, where you can just basically buy some soldier points in the trading system with real money for easy points. Or take some quest with a huge amount of soldier points as a reward.
In the game, he couldn't care less about how many would die in his every battle. However, in this world, he treated every soldier of the system as his own children.
"Yeah... I'm treating my people from the perspective of a modern human. Although, it's not a bad thing. However, it's harmful in a long run." Fendrel mumbled and pondered.
In the game, he throws his human persona and acts like an actual Demon King. Which adds some fun to his gameplay, and giving him an undesirable pleasure. He was a sicko person in the game, but act like a normal human in the real world.
He thought that it might be because he always treated the natives of the game, some kind of AI that was made by humans. Whereas this was a real-world, with real people.
He already discovered a group of monsters atop the trees as soon they entered the place. Gobz didn't discover anything unusual, as his senses could not reach past the tall trees, as he was still a Tier 2.
Fendrel squinted his eyes, shortly after he gradually closed his eyes, folding his arms, lean back and relaxed. The harpy-like monsters already commence their attacks...
