Chapter 246: Cyborg Goblin!
A thin, sickly-faced man and a bulky man smoking a cigar looked at Alex's team while talking amongst themselves.
"Hey, Rover. What do you think the sudden order from above was about? Try to kill Luis Suarez if possible. If not, focus on the mission?" Frank asked while inhaling the smoke.
"..." Rover was silent for a moment, then spoke. "They might just want us to give it a try."
Frank said with a look of envy. "I don't understand. Why should we waste such an expensive artefact on him?"
"... It's none of our business. We have to follow the orders." Although Rover had a guess. He didn't intend to discuss it with Frank.
"True, but that idiot fell for your words so easily and was working so hard to be the bait." Frank thought of Kress and said with mocking laughter.
Rover showed a sinister smile and said, "For mediocre people, the power given by the organisation is too tempting to refuse."
Frank agreed with his words, then asked. "By the way, have you plugged that chip into the Cyborg Goblin?"
"Yeah, I have taken control over all the hidden bosses in this dungeon. The Hidden Boss of this zone, the Cyborg Goblin, is also under our control." The pale-faced Rover had an excited smile on his face. "Just a little more, then I can give these kids a big surprise. Hehe~"
Frank also showed a ferocious smile along with him. Then looked ahead and uttered. "Prince Aiverson is also out. It seems the drama is about to end."
---
Yes, Thomas' Team and Alex's team had already met. It seems Thomas couldn't bear it any longer, watching Alex trying to get closer to Rura.
Thomas and Alex were already at the negative end because of the previous fight and the punishment from the guards.
Now there was even more unpleasantness between them because the two were competing for Rura's favour.
"I wonder what brings Prince Thomas here?" Alex asked, hiding the murderous intent and trying to be polite in front of Rura.
Thomas also held back his temper and showed a stiff smile.
"It's nothing, Rura, and you are a team. So, I want to help you with this test."
"Thanks for the Prince's care, but there's no need. We are more than enough to deal with our problems."
In the face of Thomas' offer to cooperate, Alex gave a polite refusal.
...
Rura, on the side, sighed, watching the two go back and forth.
How could she not understand what the two were up to? Especially after Alicia told her about them fighting for her favour and getting punished by the guards later.
To be honest, she only felt annoyed and helpless. If possible, she didn't want any of this.
...
Thomas and Alex couldn't come to a consensus, and no one backed down. After provoking each other, they left their team and started competing to see who could hunt more monsters. Just so they could show off in front of Rura.
Rura wanted to remind them that it was a team competition several times, but they didn't give her a chance.
Finally, she became annoyed by the two of them and ignored them.
This was the opportunity Frank and Rover were waiting for. As Thomas and Alex started exhausting themselves, the two became excited.
Right then, they also received the signal from Kress.
What a perfect timing!
"The bait is ready. We should start here, too." Frank turned off the device in his hand and uttered.
Rover nodded and said, "It's time..."
With that, he took out a device from his backpack and activated it. "Everything is ready, the show can begin... Hehehe~"
---
By now, Thomas and Alex had already fought against the horde of Gunner Goblins and Trapper Kobolds.
Thomas' spearman ship was very elegant, and with the use of white flames, he uprooted most of the traps planted by kobolds.
It was just very energy-consuming.
Alex wasn't far behind at all. He didn't care about Sera's previous advice on holding back his strength. Rather, he rushed forward to compete with Thomas and used even greater strength.
Right when they had consumed a lot of energy after the continuous fights.
*Roar*
A roar sounded, and the ground started shaking.
"W-what's going on?" Kerry's panicked voice sounded very clear amidst the silence after the ground shook.
Cold sweat broke down on Rura's forehead as she had a bad feeling about this.
Thomas and Alex also had serious expressions on their faces, but they only cared about whether this new monster could help them better attract Rura's adoration.
Sounds of heavy footsteps sounded. Soon, in front of them, was a figure.
Standing nearly 2 meters tall. His hunched frame is a grotesque fusion of torn green flesh and salvaged machine parts. One glowing red eye flickers erratically in a half-shattered helmet, while the other—organic and bloodshot—peers with cruel intelligence.
His left arm has been replaced by a heavy rotary cannon made from melted-down Mini Bots, and his spine is reinforced with jagged metal plating that hisses with steam. Loose wires hang from his back like tendrils, occasionally sparking.
His legs have been modified to include piston-like enhancements, allowing for explosive leaps or sudden charges. A cracked generator core is embedded in his chest, partially exposed, pulsing with unstable energy.
"No way! How could it be him?!" Rura said with a horrified expression. "The hidden boss of the Mech Tech Zone! The Cyborg Goblin!!!"
Everyone was shocked and stared at Cyborg Goblin with cautiousness and nervousness.
Thomas and Alex could both feel the oppression coming from this new opponent.
"Should we cooperate?" Thomas suggested.
Alex wanted to agree, but when his eyes fell on the Cyborg Goblin. His expression changed. Then, with an arrogant snort, he rushed ahead. "No need! Just stay back and watch!"
"No, Alex!" Kerry and the others tried to dissuade him, but Alex didn't listen.
At this moment, his mind was filled with killing intent towards the Cyborg Goblin.
