Conquering Ladies With My 10x Rebate System

Chapter 88: Attack & The Reaction

Another bullet ripped past, grazing the side of the car with a screech of tearing metal.

Caleb didn't dare tear his gaze from Naya... Fear tore at him from the inside.

The fear of losing her in any instant.

It had only been days since he had lost Julia, and now Naya was being put in another life-threatening situation.

Each second that went by, his heart thumped loudly in his chest, in fear of the unknown.

So many questions ran through his mind.

What if Alice's abilities weren't sufficient enough?

He could see her cold blue eyes shining with defiance, which gave him hope.

"Naya, just hang on," Caleb said, holding her hands.

"Ma'am!" The driver said with hands shaking like a patient suffering from Parkinson's disease after another bullet shattered the second side glass.

Alice, who was trying to give her full focus on Naya's healing, instantly got pissed by the driver's reaction.

Caleb didn't care about the driver, his gaze was fixed on Naya... His heart thumping fast.

"What is it? Just drive!" Alice shouted, annoyed, as she poured more power into her abilities.

'I need to concentrate, this idiot should just keep quiet... The injury is closing up,' Alice thought in frustration.

"Ma'am... Something... something is..." The man was stuttering... His words couldn't come out properly.

Caleb and Alice instantly turned their heads to see what was happening.

From the rearview mirror, silver liquid poured out like a dam.

The silver turned into a sharp spike, drilling through the driver's head...

Skreeee!

The tire screamed in resistance as the car instantly turned over to the side.

It was heading straight for the tall skyscraper in front, but right when it was about to drive straight into the building... It suddenly sank into the glass walls.

The onlookers watched in shock. The chaos the mad drive had caused on the road gathered a lot of attention.

They were even more amazed when the car disappeared into the wall!

"Where did that car go?"

Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall.

The car drove straight into a barren land.

It tumbled, the windows shattered, the doors bent beyond repair, and then... It froze instantly... Looking like the sculpture of a car, carved from ice.

With a powerful kick, the door blasted open.

And Caleb came out, cradling Naya in his hands like a prized possession.

He looked at the notification in front of him.

{Absolute freeze: -10,000}

Behind him was Alice.

She looked back with shock.

"How does he have an ability?" She asked herself in visible shock.

Caleb gently placed Naya on the ground, taking in their new surroundings.

The land was completely barren, but the ground beneath them wasn't the normal tarred or even sandy ground back on Earth.

It was a silvery earth... Almost like silver was used to plate the entire floor.

And then, from the sides, they could see what looked like see-through glass walls.

On the other side was the crowd of people staring at the walls of the hotel.

They could see them clearly, but from the way they were staring at the building, even a fool would know that they couldn't see them.

Caleb didn't look around for much longer; he simply turned to Alice. "Continue, her injury is almost healed," he said calmly, but Alice could sense it... the undercurrent of anger.

Simmering, unfettered rage.

Boiling from the depths of Caleb's soul.

"Sure." Alice didn't waste any time. She didn't want to be a victim of that rage, so she quickly walked over to Naya's side. She bent and continued her healing.

Caleb observed her quietly... Then suddenly, from one side of the wall... Two figures stepped out.

One wearing a golden half-mask shaped like an owl, a cigarette hanging loosely from his mouth, and a sniper slung on his left shoulder.

"That's a surprise. And here I thought I would be meeting corpses. You were right... These little cockroaches are stubborn," he said as he entered.

They had expected to see the two dead by the time they entered the space... But that wasn't the case at all.

As Caleb saw the figure, his eyes first went to the sniper hanging on his shoulder. It was clear he was the one behind the attack.

Caleb felt all his body boiling with rage.

But his gaze didn't last long on that figure as another figure walked into sight.

The neatly trimmed hair and a black suit... A smug grin on the face that wasn't his.

"Caleb Monrrow, nice to meet you again," Hakate said with a smile.

Caleb didn't talk, his head went down...

His hands visibly shaking in anger... It was subtle but noticeable.

Just then, Alice's voice came from behind.

"I'm done healing her."

Caleb quietly looked back. He could see the hole in Naya's shoulder had disappeared as though it wasn't there in the first place.

But his expression didn't change.

"What's the point of wasting more energy... You are all dying here. We don't need stubborn cardholders," Hakate's mocking voice came from the side.

Alice could tell that they were right... She had wasted much energy in healing Naya...

"How do we deal with them?"

Caleb's jaw clenched.

"Can't you just die for once? Don't worry, this time I'll make sure of it." Caleb's voice was dark as he walked forward.

"What do you want to...?" Alice was left midway into her sentence...

His hand dove into his pocket, pulling out a card—sleek, dark, and ominous. It radiated the same strange energy as Alice's glove, thrumming in his grip like a heartbeat.

Alice's head snapped toward him, her golden eyes widening.

"You… you're a cardholder?" Her voice carried disbelief.

"Not yet," he said, his tone cold as steel. "But I will be."

[Ding!]

{Card detected!}

{Does the host wish to bond with card and extract?}

Caleb didn't hesitate. Fingers tightening, he crushed the hesitation from his mind and gripped the card like his life depended on it.

"Yes," he growled under his breath.

{Ding!}
