Chapter 19: The Pull
The 108 Upana Nadis were often associated with the body's seven primary energy centers:
Muladhara Cluster (Root Chakra): Strengthening foundational stability, physical endurance, and grounding.
Svadhisthana Cluster (Sacral Chakra): Enhancing vitality, fluid control, and creative force.
Manipura Cluster (Solar Plexus Chakra): Boosting inner fire, willpower, and digestive power.
Anahata Cluster (Heart Chakra): Refining compassion, healing abilities, and emotional balance.
Vishuddha Cluster (Throat Chakra): Improving communication, truth perception, and energetic resonance.
Ajna Cluster (Third Eye Chakra): Sharpening intuition, foresight, and mental clarity.
Sahasrara Cluster (Crown Chakra): Facilitating spiritual connection, enlightenment, and higher consciousness.
Lost in thought, Mu Yan finally stirred as sunlight streamed through the vines at the cave's entrance. Opening his eyes, he was greeted with an otherworldly scene, a pair of mesmerizing eyes, catching the ethereal light filtering into their subterranean shelter. They were the colour of deep jade, like pools of ancient, still lake hiding its true depth, flecked with gold that shimmered as if stardust had been trapped within their depths.
A shaft of luminescent sunlight, piercing through a curtain of dew-kissed vines at the cave's entrance, acted as a divine spotlight. It didn't just illuminate; it enunciated, drawing out the delicate contours of her face, outlining her cheekbones and jaws, painting an otherworldly picture. Her skin, bathed in this ethereal glow, seemed to possess the translucence of finest porcelain. Stray tendrils of her raven hair, as dark and lustrous as polished obsidian, framed her face, some catching the light and gleaming like spun silk.
The light cascaded further, tracing the elegant line of her neck and shoulders, hinting at the slender yet resilient figure beneath her simple robes. With each breath she took, a gentle rise and fall, the air around them seemed to stir, imbued with a subtle, natural grace that transcended mere mortal beauty. She was not just a girl; she was a vision.
It was a stark contrast to what had led them here. Previously, her face, obscured by streaks of mud and stained clothes, had hidden her beauty. Coming to realization, Mu Yan's eyes darted towards her fingers, noticing an obsidian ring adorned her right-hand middle finger. A storage ring, previously something he never had to think of. Now changed, her simple clothes caressed her body, outlining her delicate curve. He'd been too focused on survival and his thoughts to notice anything beyond the outer cover. But now, in the quiet sanctuary of the cave, with the sunlight gently revealing her, he felt an unfamiliar tug, a profound attraction that settled deep within him. It wasn't just her beauty; it was the unexpected peace radiating from her, a calm in the storm that both captivated and drew him closer.
He had never felt such emotions even for Yan Ru. She was constant in his life from childhood, which he mistook for attraction. Now he felt what truly being attracted to someone felt like. Her curious eyes were looking at Mu Yan as if to know more about him.
She moved her hands in front of his eyes to bring him out of a trance. Startled by a sudden movement in front of him, Mu Yan was flustered.
He asked her, "Is there anything on my face?"
Qin Ying never had much contact with the opposite gender except her family and some of the other prominent family scions.
There was something about Mu Yan that drew her attention to him. His wide jawline, eyes a pool of calm like hiding untold depths, pulled her like none before. Pulling out of her thoughts, not sure how to respond. No, your face is very good.
Hnn.
Qin Ying quickly corrected herself. What I meant to say is there is nothing on your face. I was just trying to check if you were sleeping with your eyes open.
Haha, I was just mesmerized by something otherworldly. Mu Yan mischievously teased.
Qin Ying's face turned red with shyness.
Changing the topic, seeing Qin Ying being uncomfortable, Mu Yan asked,' Are you done with your breakthrough?' Hmmm, yes. I finished with my breakthrough a while back. Seeing that you were focused on something, I waited for you.
'Thank you my lady, for waiting for me,' Mu Yan jokingly said. Lightening the mood, he stood up and walked towards the mouth of the cave.
Parting the vines to assess the outside situation. The skies were clear now, but below, devastation lay in its wake. Trees had been uprooted, their splintered remains scattered across the earth. The cries of distressed birds and beasts echoed through the forest, a grim reminder of nature's fury.
