Chapter 18: Chapter 18: Unveiling Kushida's True Personality
Kurushima Pov
「6th Mai 」
Outside
I was casually walking away from the study group, which I manage since a few days. And honestly, I'm not sure what to say.
Even after thoroughly explaining how to solve the multitude of problems, only thirty percent of the study group understood it. I mean, for some it might be a progress, but not for me.
I didn't want to waste my time too much with relatively insightful and easy tasks, but whatever, I'll continue tutoring them.
How bothersome.
Unmotivated and desperately I walked at evening in the school grounds. But suddenly I heard some noises thirty meters ahead of me.
"Ah, she's the worst! She's just the worst, the worst, the worst! Horikita, you're so annoying! You're so damn annoying!"
"I swear, I hate you, hate you, hate you! Just die, Horikita!"
Wow…it's scary how I hit the bull's-eye once again.
Immediately, I hid behind a tree. The distance between her and me is now about twenty meters. I looked at her in some akin of surprise, as I didn't thought it would be that bad with her.
I took my phone out of my pocket, and filmed the scenery in front of me. However, in all sudden I heard the sound of an phone.
Was it mine? No, it's not mine. The sound is coming from her direction. A few meters behind at most.
Wait, is that Ayanokoji over there? Poor boy…
"What?" she exclaimed, due to the sudden sound of the phone. "Is someone there?"
"It's me, Ayanokoji," Ayanokoji says, coming down from his hideout, the bush.
"You forgot your cellpho–" just as he wanted to finish his sentence, the phone was gone from his hands.
"Did you hear?" she asked, infuriated by Ayanokoji.
"If I said I didn't, would you believe me?" Ayanokoji asked.
But just as he finished his sentence, Kushida approached him tiptoe to his face, looking at him with cold eyes dead in the eyes.
"If you tell anyone about this, you'll pay."
"How, exactly?"
"I'll tell everyone you tried to rape me."
Pfft.
Did she just say rape?
No, more importantly, do I have that on the recording?
It should be hearable, shouldn't it? I'm not quite sure, as unlike previously she didn't shout loudly.
How bothersome.
But even if I don't have it, I should have with this recording more than enough.
"That would be a false accusation," Ayanokoji exclaimed, his expression not even changing one bit.
"Oh, no, it's not a false charge," she responded, as she takes his…hand and places it on her breast.
"Your fingerprints are right there."
Pfft.
Does she mean that seriously?
Is she even aware how fingerprints work? I guess not.
"See? There's proof," she exclaimed, pushing Ayanokoji's hand even further against her breast. "I'm serious."
"I understand. Let me go, please."
"You hear me? If you betray me, you'll pay."
"Ayanokoji-kun. I want to ask you one question. Can you promise me, right now, that you won't tell anyone what you saw?"
"Yeah."
"Very well. I'll believe you."
"Okay! I guess we've another secret, huh?" she exclaimed, her voice changing now to her usual one.
It seems like nothing more will happen. Then there's no use continuing to stay here. I walked slowly within the darkness away, walking around the school campus further.

Ayanokoji Pov
I had this unusual feeling to be observed since the thing with Kushida happened. I'm surely just overthinking everything. But just in case I should walk to that tree over there, to confirm whether I'm simply overthinking or not.
Accordingly, I walked to that tree. And just as expected, I was overthinking everything. Well, should I walk to the dormitories now?
Yeah, I suddenly got the desire to eat ice cream. Here I come, Ice cream-chan.
One day later
Just as the lessons ended, and I walked to the dormitories, I saw Kurushima in front of me. I approached him and tapped him on the shoulder.
I have read in Mangas that I should say something like Yo buddy, or bro, when you are tapping a friend on the shoulder.
Should I try it out?
I guess it wouldn't hurt, would it? Hopefully, my communication skills are more than necessarily to do this.
"Yo…uh…ah…buddy."
I blew it.
Communication is really not my forte.
"Ah, Ayanokoji-kun. Ahm…How are you?" Kurushima asked, trying to steer the conversation away from my failure attempt.
Yes, let's do that.
"Uh, good I guess," I responded, again awkwardly. I'm really bad at communicating. "And you?" I asked.
"Same, I suppose," he answered, slightly narrowing his head in his thoughts.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, trying to gauge out why he seems to be bothered that much.
"Is it that obvious?" he asked. "Well, I'm a bit bothered by my study group," he exclaimed, his face showing full depression and despair on it.
"Study group? Uh, what's wrong?" I asked.
"Well…" he muttered frustratingly. "…As you might know, my study group consists only out of girls, coincidentally. Despite my attempts to tutor them, they sometimes dozen off and stare at me for ten straight minutes while I try to explain how to solve specific tasks."
"Today, I repeated it three times…" he muttered.
"…and while I still was optimistic about that, I also needed to explain the whole concept to them individually too…" he continued, his voice still desperate and depressingly.
"Oh…" I responded. "How did they do?" I asked, as I was curious about the results.
"Well…let's say, it still requires some big repetition around this topic," he sighed.
"Ah, I see," I answered.
"Hello Kurushima-kun," some girls who were walking past us greeted him. He did the same and greeted them back.
"Must be nice being popular," I exclaimed, as I saw him scratching his head and slightly tilting his head to the side.
"Not really…" he muttered.
"Hmm?"
"If you don't count the limited privacy and either being keep followed or constantly pictures taken of you, it might be not so bad," he sighed, expressing his troubles.
"I see…" I answered, unable to realize what for possible consequences it might have being popular.
Not like I'll understand it though. Since I'm not popular.
I'm most likely the least popular person in class. Ike and Yamauchi are probably even more popular than me.
Well, not in a good sense though.
"Now that I remember, how did you get that army of girls away?" I asked, curious and expectant about his answer.
"You saw?"
"Yeah, when I wanted to get out of my room and go to the convenience store, I saw an army of girls standing in front of your door," I answered.
"After that, I decided to stay in the dormitories rather than going out. I didn't get to buy my ice cream…" I expressed and muttered the last part quietly.
"Ahahaha, I see," he laughed painfully. "Well…nevermind. It was an awkward situation…" he continued to mutter painfully.
"Must be hard for you and your girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?" he exclaimed in shock. "I don't have one."
"I assumed that you and the silver-haired girl would be a couple."
"No, no, no, we're just friends."
"Ah, my mistake."
"No worries, Ayanokoji-kun."
"Kurushima, is there any particular reason why you kept it as a secret being together with that silver-haired girl in your room?"
"Ayanokoji-kun, you're quite perceptive."
"Me? I'm completely average."
"Aha, I see. Regarding your question, I didn't want them to bully her afterward just because I and her have a great understanding with each other."
"Bullying?"
"Yeah. If she were to be seen in my room, it could happen that she might face discrimination or bullying from the other girls."
"Ah, that can also happen, I guess," I thought aloud, as he simply nodded at me, having an worrisome look.
"Could you please keep it as a secret, Ayanokoji-kun?" he asked, as I didn't saw any reason to decline his request.
"Ah, wait. I got some of these left remaining," he said, taking out of his pockets…
…ice cream coupons out.
I would recognize them from everywhere.
"Here," he said, handing me out the ice cream coupons.
"You said you weren't able to buy ice cream that day. Just see it as a compensation of mine. Also, I don't really need them currently. So why not give it to someone who actually might want them."
Without my awareness, my hand moved already, taking the coupons out of his hand.
Once I had the three coupons, I slightly looked down, reading what they offer. Two of them are ice cream coupon, offering 50% discount for an whole…month.
Kurushima…
You are my savior…
I'll never forget this.
But before I'm getting to sentimental, what does the third one offer?
The third one offers an whole month free ice cream from the convenience store for a whole month.
I'm purchased.
Pleasure doing business with you.
"Kurushima…I'm going to be as quiet as an ant," I expressed, looking at the three coupons with full admiration and protectiveness.
I'll protect these coupons with my life.
Nobody is going to dare to steal them from me.
No one.
"Kurushima, do you mind if I part here?" I asked.
"Go ahead, Ayanokoji-kun. I suppose this time, you want to ensure that your ice cream remains, don't you?" he asked, wherein I nodded, my face showing my determination to fight my way for the ice cream in the convenience store.
"Goodbye, Kurushima," I said, walking with a quick tempo to the convenience store.

(Dormitories)
I should contact Kushida better now, if I want to use her. Immediately,
I created another separate email address, as I naturally wouldn't contact her through an SMS message via my telephone number or my own email address.
In case, I named the email address after an third-year student from the school and contacted her email address.
I attached the video recording file and my conditions if she doesn't want this video to spread further around the school.
Kushida Kikyo…
If you're useful…
You don't need to worry about this video spreading further…
But if you aren't…
I'll spread this video to each individual to the school…
Well…
It's not like she has an choice though…
