Chapter 7: The First Battle V
After a brutal crashing sound, Gaelia nodded her head with a satisfied expression.
"Hah, how do you like that, you brat!!"
Emberlyn and Marella pursed their lips and watched. Gaelia getting carried away was very risky. Especially since she seemed overly excited after being hit before the battle even started. The woman, who had no intention of interfering and was like a tank, suddenly began to exude fiery energy with her eyes sparkling. Sylvana had tried very hard to keep her calm. Simply put, she was someone with no moderation, and her motto was all or nothing.
"It's my turn!"
Emberlyn rushed forward, with Marella immediately following behind her. The square had turned into chaos. The cobblestones were shattered and scattered everywhere, puddles of water had accumulated in the mud, and the usually clean and shiny surroundings of the towering structure were now a mess. Some of the cleaning robots that normally roamed the area were damaged, while others were confused, trying to clean up the mess in front of them. Emberlyn and Marella swiftly passed through them, approaching the mist that had just been obscured by the cannonball.
"Can you disperse the mist?" Emberlyn asked. Although they both could potentially overpower Kled, the mist made it very risky.
"This kid has spent his whole life in the mist. I can't do anything against his latest developments anymore," Marella replied with a grimace.
"It's unbelievable how he managed to develop himself so much at this age."
Emberlyn's eyes and smile shone with admiration. On the other hand, her own abilities were also insufficient against Kled's mist.
"We're sure he's in this cluster, so let's surround him. I'll take the back. Let's not let him escape until Lucina arrives," Emberlyn added.
"Hah, by the time that witch arrives, I'll be her age."
Marella grinned and moved to the right of the mist cluster in front of her. As Emberlyn moved to the left, she prepared a fireball that slowly grew in her palm. The best course of action now was to force Kled out. She tried to locate Kled within the mist using her senses but found nothing. After sending the first fireball inside, she followed up with smaller fireballs in quick succession. On the other side of the mist, explosions began to echo, and cold gusts mixed with hot air started to form storms.
Marella was freezing the puddles on the ground into sharp ice formations, and cold vapors were rising. They were so sure Kled was inside the mist cloud in front of them that they hadn't considered any other possibility. Meanwhile, Kled, covered in dirt from head to toe, poked his head out of a tunnel. Despite his claustrophobia, he had managed to pass through the tunnels the spiders had quickly created in the mist.
Ignoring his dirty clothes, he moved toward the edge where the noises were coming from. He saw Marella near the other mist cloud. Her back was turned to him, and she was bombing the mist cloud mixed with flames in front of her with ice shots. Kled rubbed his arms to suppress the shiver in his body. He hadn't expected them to be this ruthless.
He checked his surroundings again, trying to locate Sylvana. She was watching the events unfold with her sword in hand, a little away from the area Emberlyn and Marella were bombarding. She was sure Kled would eventually come to her, having planted his sword in front of her.
'So you're letting them have their fun!' he thought with amusement.
Without lingering, he retreated back into the mist. Staring at Sylvana for too long was dangerous; she would definitely sense it. He called a spider hiding in the mist with a mental signal. Advancing along the edge of the mist without losing sight of Marella, he took his position. He allowed the spider to quickly prepare its trap with elastic and sticky webs spread on the ground. Once the task was complete, Kled made his move.
All his plans had gone awry, and he had to improvise completely. In reality, he had already passed the test. He had neutralized them both, but there was still time, and no one had noticed yet. Blood mixed with sweat on his forehead. Ignoring it, he wiped it away with his arm to keep it from obstructing his vision. A tornado began to form in front of him from the clash of hot and cold air rising to the sky. The mist was about to disperse and reveal its contents.
As he moved diagonally behind Marella, he deliberately made noise with his foot to draw Marella's attention. As he hoped, Marella launched her next attack at Kled without hesitation. He expected her to still be angry from before. Marella charged without hesitation again. Kled feigned shock and confusion over his mistake, hoping she wouldn't realize it was a trap. Turning around, he ran back toward the mist he had emerged from, using his injured state as an excuse to let her catch up.
Marella, laughing with excitement, kicked Kled hard in the back with great determination. As Kled was thrown into the mist in front of him, Marella followed without a second thought, unwilling to lose sight of him. It was a big mistake. Kled landed with another impact, rolling and searching for something to hold onto, while Marella, rising from the ground, noticed the web coming at her. She tried to stop and pull back to escape, but she felt the hard impact on her back and got caught in the web. Although the spider wasn't strong enough, it managed to prevent her from retreating for a moment. As the web wrapped around its prey with new threads, it dragged Marella, who was struggling to resist, underground.
"Ha ha ha haa..."
Kled laughed, mixed with groans from the recent blows. He hadn't broken a sweat during his earlier sword clash with Sylvana, but now he was truly drenched in sweat.
"Aaaahhh, they're going to think I'm really scary. I'm the one eliminating them, but I'm also the one getting beaten up..!! Am I a Joke?"
"Four left," he whispered. Even though the pain starting from his back was there, his fun was still ongoing.
Fitting everything into 30 minutes was really tough. It was starting to feel like a lifetime. As he stood up and dusted himself off, he thought about his next move. Marella's sudden disappearance would soon be noticed. Without wasting time, he sent a new command, sending the spider hiding at the tunnel exit of the bombarded mist to attack Emberlyn from the front. He himself jumped onto the board he had called and quickly emerged from behind the mist. Taking a wide arc, he advanced toward Emberlyn, being careful not to be seen by Sylvana until the last moment. The spider, hidden in the mist behind Emberlyn, leaped out from behind her.
Caught between two spiders and Kled, Emberlyn surrounded herself with flames without hesitation and charged at Kled. Kled once again sacrificed himself, throwing himself onto the incoming kick with his shoulder. Surprised by the unexpected resistance, Emberlyn tried to grab Kled by the neck, but her two separate arms were caught by two separate web attacks. Suddenly pulled by her arms, the woman, with a look of astonishment, used her last strength to bring her heel down on Kled's head from above as he struggled to stay upright on his knees. Dazed by the blow, Kled saw stars for a moment.
Immediately afterward, Emberlyn's body, wrapped in the webs of the spiders, was dragged into the depths of the still-silent mist. As Kled tried to regain his senses, he smiled again. This was the quietest elimination. There had been no opportunity for Emberlyn, who always had something to say. Everything had happened so quickly that even Kled was surprised that the fight he expected to last the longest after Sylvana had ended so quickly.
"I don't know if I'm doing well, but once again, I'm the one getting beaten up."
One thing he was sure of was that he could dominate today thanks to long observations and tactical developments. Under normal circumstances, if the girls were familiar with his tactics, there would be no chance of winning. Aside from taking the beating, eliminating them so easily had made him a bit uneasy. But ultimately, time was limited. And he never thought that the time constraint would make this battle so challenging. Sylvana had made a really good move.
'She wasn't this brutal before,' he thought. He remembered the day she told him about the dream she had upon awakening. It was the most interesting day of his life because he never had such a sweet and wonderful day with lots of extras again. That day, Sylvana said the dream she had deserved a big party, and so it was. There was never such a great party again.
"Three left," he whispered again. "Sylvana, Gaelia, and Lucina."
