CHRONICLES OF THE MAGIC USER'S THE AWAKENING

Chapter 28: CHAPTER 28: THE RETURN TO CELESTIAN

The air crackled with anticipation as James Wolfect, the newly crowned Demon King, stepped through the portal that linked the demon realm to Celestian. Beside him stood Tiffany Scott, his beloved, now the Demon Queen, with a fierce determination etched on her face. Maxwell and Tanya, their loyal friends, followed closely, eyes wide with wonder at the world they had fought to protect.

As they emerged into the vibrant landscape of Celestian, they were met with the joyous cheers of their family. James's parents, Jenson and Joss, along with his grandmother Jamia, awaited them with open arms, a celebration in full swing. Balloons danced in the breeze, and a feast spread before them, a symbol of their victory and reunion.

"My boy! It's been forever since I've seen your handsome face!" Joss exclaimed, enveloping James in a warm embrace. He felt the familiar warmth of home wash over him, a stark contrast to the cold, harsh realities of the demon realm.

But just as the festivities began, a shadow loomed over their joy. Simon Goodheart, Joss's brother and James's uncle, arrived with a countenance that screamed trouble. His presence silenced the celebration, the air thick with tension.

"Jay, I am sure you know why I am here," Simon said, his voice steady but cold.

"No, but I'm sure you'll tell me," James replied, a hint of defiance in his tone.

"I am here to reclaim my lightning power from you. I lent them to you so you could save your parents. Now that they are safe, return to me what is mine," Simon demanded, his expression devoid of emotion.

James hesitated, confusion swirling in his mind. "It's not that I don't want to return them to you; it's just that I don't know how."

"Don't play games with me, boy. Return what is mine, or there will be consequences to pay," Simon warned, anger flickering in his eyes.

"Simon, there is no need for violence. I'm sure we can work something out," Joss interjected, her voice trembling.

"Don't make me laugh, sister. For a thousand years, you, Jenson, and I were imprisoned by the Combat Magic Core. I sent my power to James so he could free us. He said then he turned to face James. I am also the one who came to you in your dreams, telling you not to trust Alexi. But you didn't listen. When you saved your parents, you left me trapped and alone for a century. I was alone in a dark place, and you all forgot about me," Simon cried, tears brimming in his eyes. "Do you even know how I got free? It was thanks to the gods! I was given a chance to train with them. During that time, not once have I forgotten you all."

"Brother, we are sorry that we forgot about you; it was not intentional. There was just so much going on, and for that, we truly are sorry," Joss and Jenson said in unison, tears streaming down their faces.

Simon's laughter echoed eerily. "I don't want your apologies! I just want my power back, or else there will be consequences!" His voice was laced with fury.

"I am the Demon King, and I do not take kindly to threats," James declared, his voice firm.

"Foolish boy! I warned you to hand over my powers, but you ignored me. Very well then, I shall declare war on you all. But before I leave, know this one last thing: I, Simon Goodheart, have ascended to God stage!" With those words, he vanished, his presence reverberating in the air like a fading storm.

The day of reckoning arrived, the atmosphere charged with anticipation. James prepared for battle, his heart heavy with the weight of familial ties and the responsibility of the crown. Tiffany stood by his side, her unwavering support a beacon of strength.

The clash between James and Simon was intense, their powers colliding like thunder and lightning. James fought valiantly, recalling the lessons learned in the demon realm, but Simon's fury fueled him, making him a formidable opponent.

As the battle raged on, James felt a surge within him, a strength born of his lineage and hard-won experience. Finally, he landed a decisive blow, sending Simon to his knees, his eyes closed in resignation.

"You have won. Kill me if you must; just get it over with," Simon said, despair etched across his face.

Joss rushed forward to stop James, but Jensen held her back. "Let go of me, Jensen! I have to stop him. Otherwise, he's going to kill my brother! Is that what you want?" she asked, tears running down her cheeks.

"My dear! You need to have faith in our son. Just watch and wait," he urged, his voice steady in the chaos.

James approached Simon, his heart torn. Instead of delivering the final blow, he placed his hands on Simon's shoulders, channeling his own lightning power back into him. "You are family, and everyone deserves a second chance," James whispered.

Simon looked up, disbelief evident in his expression. "I don't understand. I thought you were not able to do this."

"You were wrong," James replied, a sense of hope igniting within him.

But as Simon regained his strength, the world began to tremble. Jamia, with a confused look, asked, "What's going on?"

"This is my fault," Simon said, anguish filling his voice. "When you defeated me in battle, you were recognized as a new God of this world. Now you must ascend to the throne of God, and it will be a thousand years before you can return."

Before they could act, the sky split open, revealing a man made of golden light. "James Wolfect, I am Meco, the God of Time. You have defeated a god, and now you must take his place in the cosmos. There are five million universes that you will oversee."

"But I just got back!" James protested, panic gripping him.

"If you are worried about your family and friends, don't be, because they will all be here when you come back," Meco assured him.

"No! This is not fair! I just got back!" James shouted, desperation lacing his voice.

"Sorry, but you no longer have a choice in the matter. You are to become the God of Dimensional Travel," Meco stated with an unwavering demeanor.

"You should go, James. We will all be fine," Tiffany said, tears glistening in her eyes. What she wanted to confess to him was that she was carrying their unborn child, but she held it back. She sighed, telling herself that she would share the news when he returned. "I will go back to the demon realm, and in one thousand years, we will meet back here."

"It's time. You must travel to other dimensions and govern over them with fear and just law. Now, come," Meco commanded.

With a heavy heart, James stepped forward, feeling the pull of destiny take hold. The golden light enveloped him, and he turned back one last time, looking at his family and friends, their faces a mixture of pride and sorrow.

"I'll return," he promised, though his voice quavered with uncertainty.

As the light consumed him, he felt himself being stretched across dimensions, each universe presenting its own challenges and wonders. He embraced his new role as the God of Dimensional Travel, a guardian of balance between realms.

Meanwhile, Tiffany stood resolute, knowing she would face the trials of the demon realm alone. The weight of her secret pressed down on her; she was carrying the legacy of their love, a child that would one day know the story of their parents' sacrifice.

Meco took James to meet the other gods, each one more imposing and fascinating than the last. The first was Jokan, the God of Creation, whose very presence hummed with the energy of life itself. Beside him stood Jolee, the Goddess of Destruction, his sister, whose gaze could turn galaxies to ash.

"Welcome, young God," Jokan said, his voice like the rustling of leaves. "We have awaited your arrival."

"Indeed," Jolee added, her voice smooth yet dangerous. "You will find that creation and destruction are two sides of the same coin."

Next, they met Falcon and Eagle, the twin gods of Death and Life. The brothers exchanged knowing glances, their bond palpable. "You will learn the balance of existence," Falcon intoned, his voice a whisper of shadows.

"And you will find your path to be both exhilarating and burdensome," Eagle added, his tone bright yet cautionary.

James felt the weight of their expectations, but he also felt a flicker of hope. With the guidance of these gods, perhaps he could learn to navigate the complexities of his new role.

As time passed, he absorbed their wisdom, practicing his powers and understanding the delicate balance of the multiverse. Each universe he visited presented new challenges and allies, but they also reminded him of the life he left behind.
