Chapter 21: CHAPTER 21: NEVER UNDERESTIMATE US
The night air was thick with tension as chaos erupted near the Edge of New City Celestian. The horizon flickered with ominous energy flashes, illuminating the faces of the beleaguered group that stood against an army of one hundred thousand Enforcers. Simon, Jamia, Jenson, Joss, and little James were cornered, the once-peaceful city transformed into a battleground. With every heartbeat, the stakes rose higher, and every breath felt like it could be their last.
"You people must really see us as a threat, that so many of you are here," Simon quipped, sarcasm dripping from his voice, even as lightning energy coursed through his veins, illuminating his figure in an ethereal glow. Inside, he fought against the fear that threatened to consume him, knowing that he had to protect his friends and family at all costs.
The leader of the Enforcers, a towering figure named Bargus, surveyed them with a wicked gleam in his eyes. "We are the Combat Magic Core, and this is the day we have been waiting for. Surround them and attack!" His voice boomed over the chaos, sending a shiver down Simon's spine.
"Get to safety! I will hold them off; just get little James out of here!" Simon shouted, his voice steady despite the storm brewing within him.
"Mom! You're the strongest here! Take James and run!" Jenson and Joss cried in unison, urgency in their voices.
Jamia's heart raced as she grasped the gravity of the situation. With a heavy heart, she picked up her grandson, little James, cradling him in the crook of her arm. In an instant, she transformed into a massive white werewolf, her fur shimmering under the flickering lights of battle. With a powerful leap, she dashed away, taking out ten thousand Enforcers in her wake, her primal instincts kicking in as she fought to protect her family.
Tears streamed down Joss's face, her heart aching with the uncertainty of whether she would see her son again. But as she turned to the chaos surrounding her, a cold resolve settled in her chest. "Congratulations, you have successfully pissed me off! You will get to see why I am called the Demon of Healers," she declared, her voice sharp and full of rage. In a flash, she disappeared, reappearing with a fierce grip on Bargus's throat. "I'm going to break every bone in your body, then I'm going to heal you just to do it all over again. Sound like fun? I'll be taking this one; you guys can have the rest," Joss said, a twisted smile on her face as she vanished into thin air, leaving behind the echoes of Bargus's cries of pain.
Jenson stood rooted, stunned by the transformation of his beloved wife. The gentle healer he knew was now a terrifying force of nature, embodying vengeance. Simon's laughter broke through Jenson's shock, a sound laced with both relief and admiration.
"When my sister gets angry, make sure you're not in her way! She shows no mercy to anyone!" Simon exclaimed, a glint of mischief in his eyes. With a powerful leap into the sky, he called out, "Divine Dragon Mode!" In an instant, a massive blue dragon enveloped him, transforming into a suit of lightning armor. With newfound strength, he unleashed a furious onslaught, decimating eighty thousand Enforcers in a blinding flash of power.
"I leave the rest to you; go all out!" Simon shouted as he descended back to the ground, leaving Jenson with the remnants of the battle.
Jenson took a deep breath, channeling the urgency of the moment. "It's good that my son is not here; I don't have to hold back in fear of harming him by accident," he muttered to himself as he transformed into a fierce red wolf. Shadows danced around him, forming deadly swords that glistened ominously in the chaos.
With renewed determination, Jenson charged into the fray, his heart pounding in rhythm with the battle. As he swung his shadow swords, he felt the power coursing through him, and with each strike, he cut down the remaining Enforcers. Some of them attempted to flee, but they didn't get far; Jenson was relentless, his agility and ferocity unmatched.
Meanwhile, Jamia fought fiercely in her werewolf form, racing through the city streets, dodging blasts of energy and tearing through the ranks of the Enforcers. Her instincts guided her as she protected her grandson, the memory of his laughter echoing in her mind. She wouldn't let anything happen to him, not now, not ever.
Back at the battlefield, Simon and Joss joined forces, helping Jenson dispatch the last of the Enforcers. It was a whirlwind of energy and power, with Simon's lightning strikes illuminating the night and Joss's fierce healing abilities allowing her to push beyond her limits. Together, they formed an unstoppable force, each member of their family fighting for one another.
As the last Enforcer crumpled to the ground, an eerie silence fell over the battlefield. The air was thick with the remnants of the battle, crackling with energy as the trio caught their breath. Jenson, panting heavily, looked around at the devastation wrought before them. "Is it over?" he asked, his voice wavering as he searched for any signs of remaining danger.
"Not yet," Simon replied, his voice steady. "We've won this battle, but there's still a war to fight. We need to regroup and figure out our next move."
As Jamia, still in her werewolf form, reunited with the others, she shifted back to her human self, still holding little James tightly in her arms.
Just then, a shimmering portal appeared before them, casting a warm glow amid the remnants of chaos. Maxwell and Tanya stepped through, their faces a mixture of exhaustion and relief.
"Are you guys okay? We're here to help!" Maxwell and Tanya asked in unison, concern etched across their features.
"Maxwell! Tanya!" Jenson exclaimed, relief flooding his voice. "You made it just in time. We've just taken on an army of Enforcers, but they're not done yet."
"An army? Are you serious?" Tanya gasped. "We were just attacked as well."
"Then we need to regroup," Simon declared, his eyes narrowing in determination. "We can't let the Combat Magic Core think they can intimidate us. We have to turn the tides."
With a collective nod, the group gathered, strategizing their next move. They needed to take the fight to the Combat Magic Core, but first, they had to ensure the safety of their families and allies. The shadows of the past might have threatened their unity, but like a majestic phoenix, they would rise from the ashes, stronger and more determined than ever.
Together, they would confront the darkness that threatened their world. The battle was far from over, but with each other by their side, they felt invincible.
Little did they know that the Combat Magic Core was already plotting their next move, and the true test of their strength was yet to come.
To be continued…
