Chronicles of the Apocalypse: Condemnation

In her home, Sarah is collecting her photographs of herself, Ashley, Nathan and Kyle. She drops the photograph of Kyle and herself on their wedding day and grabs it, smiling. She then places it in her pocket, before she makes her way to the door, only to find her Midtown Manhattan fighter escorts dead. Suddenly, as Sarah pulls out her gun and backs away, Barnes, revealed to have survived, appears and grabs Sarah from behind.

Barnes: Shhh....relax, honey....I don't want you....I want your husband.

At the command center, Jake, James, Caleb, Mitchell, Bowers, Marcus and Margaret engage attacking Condemned forces.

Bowers: Contact!

Condemned use their grappling hooks to climb up as Margret uses her sniper rifle to shoot down the Condemned. Marcus, Jake and James hold back the Condemned attempting to climb on the tower as evacuating A.O.W Soldiers including Mary and Kelly climb onto their aircrafts, only to have the aircraft Mary and Kelly has boarded shot in the tail, before it spins out of control and crashes into the tower, killing both Mary and Kelly in the explosion. Meanwhile, Kyle is with Pierce and Shawn.

Pierce: Is this hard for you, son?

Kyle: It is.....it's not only home. this is where Sarah and I....got together...this is where I became a leader.....a martyr if you will...

Shawn: Hey...what you're doing, Kyle...it is hard, but it's the right choice....everyone's behind you and no one blames you....

Kyle sighs.

Kyle: Sarah needs to bring her ass back here.

Kyle's radio rings as he picks it up and talks into it.

Kyle: Sarah, is that you? Where are you? It's getting bad out there and you need to-

Barnes: Hey, Kyle....how's it going?

Kyle: Barnes? You're alive?

Barnes: You're surprised?

Kyle: Where are you, Barnes?

Barnes: In the burning city....it's not Vegas, but Midtown is still a city where you can gamble and get away with anything....speaking of gambling; I got something you'll want to gamble for.

Sarah: Kyle!

Kyle: Sarah....

Sarah: Kyle, don't come after me! It's a tra-

Barnes: And she is a prize.

Kyle: I swear to God if you lay one fucking hand on her...

Barnes: Ah-ah-ah...that doesn't need to happen, so if you want to see your wife again, I suggest you watch what you say....

Kyle: What do you want?

Barnes: Atta boy. That's the spirit. That's what I like about you, Kyle! A team player.....I want you to meet me by the parking lot buildings near the sinkhole in thirty minutes....alone....and Kyle, don't keep me waiting..

Kyle: Sarah...I'm coming for you...just-

The radio signal goes out, just as Kyle down radio on table.

Kyle: Shit!

Shawn: What are you going to do?

Kyle: I knew I should've killed him....but he was swallowed and I detonated his bomb...how the hell did he get out?

Shawn: Kyle, we'll figure that out later...what are you doing to do?

Kyle: I'm going to go get her....but I need you to cover me from the other parking lot....we're going to kill him this time.

Shawn: How? He's immune to everything....

Kyle: Not everything...

In the parking lot building, Sarah is tied up as Barnes, slightly injured from the neurobomb explosion, is holding his pistol.

Barnes: My face just gets more and more fucked up every damn second.

Sarah: Kyle's going to fucking kill you.

Barnes: No, he ain't.....not if he wants you back...

Sarah: You don't know my husband...you may have trained him to be a killer like you, but you don't know him.

Barnes: Believe me, girl.....I know your husband...more than you do.

Jake, James, Bowers, Marcus and Margaret continue to hold back the Condemned attack on the Chrysler Tower. James is jumped from behind by a Condemned drone and thrown to the ground as it prepares to attack until it is shot in the back of the head by an arrow shot by Cassandra, who finishes off the Condemned drone.

James: Cassandra.....

James stands up.

Cassandra walks up to James.

James: What are you doing here?

Cassandra: You guys need another hand.....besides, you look like you needed me.

James: More than ever.....

James and Cassandra share a passionate kiss as Jake notices.

Jake: Uh...really? People! There's a fuckin war going on here!

James still kisses Cassandra and waves Jake away.

James: I know.....I know....I know. We'll be there in a moment.

In the parking lot near the sinkhole, Kyle arrives in the parking lot with his pistol armed as Shawn makes his way to the other parking lot with his crossbow armed and aimed. He is also carrying an A.O.W Assault Rifle and the Gods' Fist while Shawn uses his scope to locate Sarah.

Shawn: Kyle, I see Sarah. She's on the third floor. West side.

Kyle: Got it.....when you see Barnes, don't shoot until I give you the signal.

Shawn: Got it.... hey, what's the signal?

Kyle: You'll know.

Sarah attempts to get out of her binds just but is unsuccessful just as Kyle arrives.

Kyle: Sarah! Thank god!

Sarah: Kyle....

Kyle approaches Sarah, before cutting her binds, freeing her as the two stand up.

Kyle: Are you okay?

Sarah: yeah.....

Kyle: Where's Barnes?

Sarah: I don't know...he's still around here somewhere.

Kyle: Well, let's get out of here before he come back.

Kyle and Sarah prepare to leave, but Barnes appears as they are walking and knocks Kyle down, causing him to drop his gun. Sarah tends to Kyle as Barnes grabs Kyles' gun.

Barnes: Hello, Kyle.

Kyle: Barnes...how are you still alive?

Barnes: Well, it's actually pretty complicated.....that sea monsters' tongue ripped that bomb right out of my neck.....just in time as you pressed the detonator.

Sarah helps Kyle up as Barnes looks ahead at the siege of Midtown Manhattan.

Kyle: what do you want, Barnes?

Barnes: "What do I want"? 

Barnes laughs.

Barnes: Something called good ol fashion revenge...you killed my brother....you killed my boss....cast soldiers I trained out into the wasteland to fend themselves....you put a goddamned bomb in my fucking neck....and made me your bitch.....you made me an outcast for the past three years....so why wouldn't I not want to kill you?

Kyle: You don't have to do this.

Barnes: Oh, I don't, huh? You care to clarify why?

Kyle: Look, you're pissed at me.....you want to kill me.....fine...but-but just let her go.

Barnes laughs.

Barnes: your life over your wives'? A brave and noble offer.....but I'm afraid I have to refuse. You brought her into this and now she has to pay for it along with you.

Sarah: You're such a fucking monster.... you may as well go ahead and kill us now.

Barnes: Honey, the way you said that is making it sound like I took something from you.... you're with a man who's hurt you bad....don't you know what he's done?

Sarah: Yeah, I know he served under Zeus Corps.

Kyle: Sarah....

Sarah: But he left after people like you were killing innocents....and then he became a leader out here....he didn't attack us....he didn't put fear in the people of the wasteland....he also didn't murder someone I cared about like you did.

Barnes: "like I did"?

Sarah: What? Three years been that long for you?....you don't remember back when you escaped and killed my brother and friend?

Barnes: Whoa, whoa, whoa, what the hell are you talking about, Sarah? I was long gone when your brother died....

Barnes laughs.

Barnes: I had nothing to do with what happened between your brother and husband. Kyle said told me he died on a run.

Sarah looks at Kyle confused.

Sarah: Wha-

Barnes soon realizes he has lied to Sarah as he then laughs.

Barnes: Ohhh.....damn...wow....what did he tell you, Sarah? I killed Nathan and Billy? 

Barnes turns to Kyle.

Barnes: Kyle, you slick dog you. What kind of bullshit story did you cook up in that big head of yours, son? You lied? You lied to your wife about how her brother died? You know that's a sin from the bible. "Thou must not lie to your wife".

Sarah: Kyle, what is he talking about?

Barnes: Oh....this is the part that's going to be heartbreaking, but it'll be more fascinating to watch your wife's shock to learn the truth of how her brother died before what happens next. 

Barnes walks over to Sarah.

Barnes: You see, honey; it goes like this.....the true version of Kyle's lie....your brother, Nathan, was so pissed off at Kyle's success...so jealous...he wanted him dead.....so dead that he released me...killed two guards to do it too....said that Kyle had turned you and your sister against him....destroyed his group...and his family....even got his lady killed....so I'm guessing it out like this; Nathan pulls the gun on Kyle....Billy appears and gets 

Barnes clicks tongue, imitating gun to the head.

Barnes: by Nathan....and the conclusion of this story; Kyle was left no choice after Billy died....you know what the conclusion is; your brother's real killer....is the same man that you are married to....

Barnes points to Kyle

Barnes: Kyle, himself. That man. Right there.

Sarah is in disbelief.

Sarah: No....

Barnes: Oh, yeah...

Sarah: No, that's a fucking lie.....you killed him....both of them....I don't believe that. That's bullshit.

Barnes: Kyle, you care to make an argument, or do you want to tell another lie to the woman you love?

A short pause, before Kyle speaks with a tone of guilt and sorrow.

Kyle: Sarah...I....

Sarah turns to Kyle, shaking her head in denial.

Sarah: no...no...that's not true....that's not true, Kyle..... 

Realizing Kyle is telling the truth, Sarah becomes tearful.

Sarah: Tell me that's not true, Kyle.....tell me that's not what happened...Kyle? Tell me this fucking asshole is lying and that it was him! Please!

Kyle: I'm sorry...but I can't lie anymore. I....I killed him....I killed Nathan.

Sarah is shocked and tearful at hearing the truth of how her brother died.

Sarah: It was you?! You killed my brother?! 

Sarah is speechless.

Kyle: Sarah....Listen; I didn't have a choice. He tried to kill me. He killed Billy. He was going to kill your sister.

Kyle attempts to touch an angered Sarah, who pushes and slaps Kyle across the face repeatedly.

Sarah: No! No! You fucking asshole! How could you?! I trusted you! How could you do this to me?! Nathan....my own flesh and blood.....

Barnes, amused, laughs as he claps.

Barnes: Hey, Sarah...if it's all the same to you, it's not his fault. He just thought I'd be an easier target to put his blame on. I'm not going to lie, Kyle; I am impressed....for a while you felt in charge, but not anymore.

Kyle: I knew I should've killed you when I had the chance.

Barnes: Yeah, you should've, but you didn't....and that makes you unable to survive...you thought you could have a happily ever after married life with a great white lie and not suffer the consequences.

An earthquake shakes Midtown Manhattan.

Barnes: Well, that would be the fat lady singing...which means it's time to close the curtain....and you know how this act is going to end.

Barnes aims his gun at Kyle.

Barnes: Goodbye, Kyle Desipich.

Kyle: So that's it, huh? You tell my wife the truth about his brother and then mow us down in cold blood?

Barnes: Of course.....sucks, don't it?

Barnes aims his gun at Kyle, preparing to pull the trigger, but after a few tense moments, he suddenly puts his gun down.

Barnes: Ah, Kyle.....I've come to realize I can't kill you, man....no...you're too much of an honorable man.....you could've blown my head off at any time, but you didn't...and I respect you, Kyle.

Sarah: Oh, thank god.

Barnes: Don't thank him just yet, honey...only way to wound a man like this is to destroy him mentally...I said I wouldn't kill him.

Barnes aims his gun at Sarah.

Barnes: Didn't say I wouldn't kill you.

Kyle: No! No! Barnes! Don't! No!

As Barnes shoots, Kyle jumps in the way and is shot in the shoulder, knocking Sarah off the side.

Kyle: Sarah!

Sarah falls to the lower floor unconscious.

Shawn: Damn it!

Barnes laughs.

Barnes: nice! You are really fucking up today. First you lie to the bitch and now you killed your own wife....if not, I'll go grab her and finish her off for you.

Kyle: Barnes, I'm sorry!

Barnes: "You're sorry"? For what? For turning me into a fucking rat in the sewer?

Kyle: No.....for lying to you too.

Barnes: About what?

Kyle raises his hand as Shawn aims his crossbow at Barnes.

Shawn: Guess that's the signal.

Shawn shoots Barnes in the shoulder with an electric arrow, stunning Barnes long enough for Kyle to stand up and knock the gun out of Barnes' hand, before punching him. Kyle repeatedly punches Barnes, who grabs Kyles' last punch and kicks him back. Kyle and Barnes charge at each other with Barnes tackling Kyle through a wall and throwing him through a fence. Sarah recovers, before she notices Kyles' gun and grabs it. Kyle is gathering his strength with little struggle.

Kyle: C'mon, Kyle....walk it off...walk it off....it's just your back....your head.....maybe your ribs.....ow...fuck....that hurt.

Barnes appears as he begins to gloat.

Barnes: C'mon, Desipich! Show me what you got!

Kyle notices two wrenches as Barnes charges at Kyle, who grabs the two wrenches and proceeds to beat Barnes twice. Barnes maneuvers one of Kyle's attacks, but Kyle counters an attack and beats Barnes down. Kyle gets on top of Barnes and beats him across the face with the two wrenches till they break. Kyle tosses away the broken wrench, before grabbing Barnes by the collar and punching him in the face repeatedly, causing Barnes to spit out blood.

Barnes: That you got, lil sheep?

Kyle prepares to punch again, but Barnes kicks Kyle off, having him knocked into the wall. Barnes then grabs Kyle by the neck, before punching him in the stomach and throwing him into another floor. Barnes looks inside the hole as Shawn aims his crossbow and shoots Barnes again, gaining Barnes attention.

Barnes: Shawn!

Barnes jumps across to the other parking lot as he moves into on Shawn's location, prompting Shawn to switch to his A.O.W Assault Rifle and open fire on Barnes. Sarah runs into the other parking lot building armed with Kyles' gun while Kyle is recovering from his fall, before he notices Shawn opening fire on Barnes.

Kyle: No!

Kyle quickly grabs a rope using debris around the environment to swing himself across to the other side of the building. Barnes catches up to Shawn, who dodges Barnes attack and hits Barnes with the butt of his rifle, but Barnes grabs the A.O.W Rifle and punches Shawn back, knocking him to the ground. Barnes snaps the A.O.W Assault Rifle in half. Barnes grabs the God's Fist weapon and aims the beam at Shawn, but Kyle appears and grabs Barnes just as the beam reigns down. Shawn dodges the beam as Sarah arrives. The God's Fist Weapon is crushed by a piece of debris, causing the weapon to malfunction. Kyle dodges and attack, before stabbing Barnes in the back. Kyle slices up Barnes' back as Kyle punches Barnes in the stomach. Barnes blocks an attack and knees Kyle, before Barnes throws Kyle out of the building right under the sinkhole. In slow motion, Kyle grabs a chain and swings himself back into the building, kicking Barnes in the process. Kyle and Barnes fight as the God's Fist beam severs the parking lot building, causing the floors to fall. Shawn gets Sarah into a trailer parked inside the parking lot while Barnes is defaced by a helicopter A.O.W Helicopter blade, before he is crushed by the trailer and Kyle is knocked away. In the city, Jake, James, Cassandra, Caleb, Mitchell, Marcus, Margaret and Bowers continue holding off the Condemned forces, before A.O.W gunships arrive.

Marcus: We got choppers coming in!

Bowers: We got some help, boys!

Suddenly, Goliaths arrive and shoot down the A.O.W Gunships, causing one to crash into the command center while another one crashes into the courtyard. Pierce and Maya aid the wounded A.O.W Soldiers.

Maya: Jesus! Hey, are you alright?

Pierce: It's okay, son...stay with me.....we're going to get you some help.

Suddenly, a Manticore attacks, killing the remaining crew as it rips off the gunship from the hole in the command center. Pierce grabs an assault rifle as Maya grabs a shotgun and opens fire on the Manticore, along with the A.O.W Soldiers in the command center. The Manticore is shot repeatedly as it falls to its death while Bowers, Cassandra, Jake and James help out the wounded passengers aboard the other crashed gunship while Marcus and Margaret provide covering fire.

Cassandra: I'm not sure how long we can hold them.

Jake: We have to.....we can hold them.....we can hold them...

A.O.W Soldier: Colonel Bowers, I'm getting word that Condemned are breaking down through the main gates.

Marcus: Damn! Sir, if they get through the main gates, those things will be all over us.

Bowers: We can't let them get in here.....

James: These guy's need help.....

Cassandra: I'll help them out.

James: So will I...

Cassandra: No, James, you go with them.....they need you.

A short pause.

James: You can't stay here by yourself.

Margaret steps up.

Margaret: I'll take care of her....I'm going to keep her safe.....you have my word.

James: Okay.....

James kisses Cassandra.

James: I love you.

Jake: C'mon, James.....we don't have much time.

Jake, James, Caleb, Mitchell and Bowers depart, before Marcus speaks to Margaret.

Marcus: You take care of yourself, lil sis.

Margaret: You too, big bro. You too.

Marcus and Margaret hug.

Margaret: You know what you're doing, honey?

Cassandra: Yeah....I do.....do you?

Margaret: Of course...I'm a soldier.

Cassandra: Soldier's don't count for shit...no offense....

Jake, James, Caleb, Mitchell, Marcus and Bowers arrive at the main gates, before Marcus and Caleb grab giant gun turrets and open fire on the Condemned forces attacking including Condemned Brutes with rocket launchers. A massive gunfight ensues with casualties on both sides, but the Midtown Manhattan Fighters and A.O.W Survivors emerge victorious. Suddenly, two Goliaths approach the main gates and open fire, but Jake grabs a mortar launcher and opens fire. Jake manages to kill the first Goliath, but the last Goliath opens fire on Jake's position, knocking him down. In a desperate moment, James constructs a Molotov and jumps over the barricade.

Bowers: James! What are you doing, boy?!

James tosses the Molotov at the Condemned pilot, setting him ablaze and causing him to lose control of the Goliath. The fire spreads through the mechanism on the Goliath, causing an explosion. James hides behind a car, before Jake, Marcus, Bowers and Caleb take cover. After a few tense moments, Jake, Marcus, Bowers, Mitchell and Caleb poke their heads out in search for James.

Caleb: James? James?

Marcus: Where is he?

Bowers: C'mon, son.

In the midst of the smoke and fire, James appears, bringing joy to Jake, Caleb, Mitchell, Marcus and Bowers. Caleb laughs.

Caleb: You crazy bastard!

Mitchell: Whoo! Yeah, James!

Bowers: Way to go, brother!

Jake: all right, boy!

James: This is the ultimate kill record! 

James laughs. In the severed parking lot, Kyle recovers as he looks on to notice the downed trailer. Sarah recovers to notice an injured Shawn.

Sarah: Shawn...

Shawn: I'm alright.....where's Kyle?

Sarah: I don't know.

Sarah tends to Shawn while Kyle stands up and walks over to the downed trailer. Suddenly, the defaced Barnes jumps up and lands on the trailer.

Barnes: What?! Did you think it would be easy, huh?

Sarah busts out the trailer window, attempting to escape as Kyle and Barnes notice this. A support beam next to the trailer has been damaged, slowly collapsing above the trailer. Barnes smirks as Kyle gives a worried look.

Kyle: Sarah!

Kyle runs to the trailer, but Barnes jumps and rams into Kyle, throwing him into the wall. Kyle attempts to punch Barnes, who blocks the punch and rams his free wrist into Kyle's neck. A struggle ensues as the support beam begins to weaken. Barnes lifts Kyle from off the ground as Kyle knees Barnes in the stomach, before punching him in the ribs. Kyle then uppercuts Barnes, before backhanding and punching him, but his attacks prove fruitless as Barnes continues to keep Kyle pinned.

Barnes: You think you can live a happy married life in this world?! Huh?! No...this is the wasteland, son! 

Barnes transforms his mechanical arm into blade.

Barnes: Marriage's die!

Barnes stabs Kyle in the shoulder, causing him to scream in pain and weakening him.

Barnes: I got your attention now, soldier boy?

Barnes takes the blade out of Kyle's shoulder as Kyle falls to his knees. The support beams continue to weaken, before Barnes notices.

Barnes: Oh, look, your blushing bride.

Barnes grabs Kyles' head, before he grabs Kyle by the lower chin.

Barnes: You can watch her die.

Sarah attempts to get Shawn out of the trailer as Kyle and Sarah make eye contact with each other, giving Kyle the strength to overpower Barnes.

Kyle: Never!

Kyle grabs Barnes' mechanical arm and elbows Barnes, before a struggle ensues. Kyle lets out a valiant scream, before he head butts Barnes in the nose. Kyle runs at Barnes, who attempts to backhand Kyle, but he dodges. Kyle punches Barnes in the groin, before Kyle grabs Barnes and rams him into the wall.

Kyle: I'd rather watch you die!

Kyle grabs a brick and pummels Barnes, before Sarah and Shawn manage to escape the trailer. Suddenly, the two support beams give in just as Kyle runs to his wife and friend.

Kyle: NO!

Kyle grabs a spare chain and grabs Sarah and Shawn as the floors cave in. Shawn is separate from the drop as Kyle and Sarah drop across from each other. Kyle and Sarah recover and share a brief moment, before Barnes appears behind Kyle with a chain wrapped.

Sarah: Behind you!

Kyle looks behind him as Barnes swings the chain at Kyle, knocking him across the floor. Barnes then swings the chain into Kyle's chest, knocking him down and causing him to spit out blood. Shawn stands up and hits Barnes in the back with a wrench, before swinging it into Barnes, who grabs the next strike. Barnes disarms and backhands Shawn, before Barnes swings the chain and wraps the chain around Kyle's neck. Barnes pulls down the chain, pulling down Kyle as well. Barnes move in to finish off Kyle, but Sarah steps in front of Barnes.

Barnes: Move, bitch.

Sarah pulls out a knife.

Barnes: You're going to defend this man? He killed your own brother and lied about it? Yet, you still defend him?

Sarah: Doesn't mean I'll let you kill him, asshole.

Barnes laughs, before tossing away the chain and transforming his mechanical arm into a blade.

Barnes: You know what they say; til death do you part!

Barnes and Sarah engage in a knife fight as Shawn recovers and notices his crossbow arrows and a tube of radioactive fluid. Kyle notices his Zeus Corps machete, before Barnes disarms Sarah and backhands her unconscious.

Barnes: Not bad.....for a little girl!

Barnes prepares to stab Sarah, but is suddenly impaled from behind by Kyle with his machete. Barnes gags as if he were dying, but suddenly laughs.

Barnes: Is that how Nathan died? 

Barnes elbows Kyle, before grabbing him by the throat and punching him down. Kyle looks at the unconscious Sarah as Barnes notices this.

Barnes: Oh, man.....love.....it's such a beautiful strong bond....

Barnes picks up chain.

Barnes: My mom always told me, before she died....t's such a mending chain that can't be broken.....but yet, like in your case, fatal.

Barnes begins to strangle Kyle with the chain for a few seconds. Kyle stares at Sarah.

Barnes: That's it, son...look at her...it'll be the last time you see the one thing you lived for! I was wrong, Kyle.....I can kill a man like you....a man who thinks he can fuck with everyone else and not pay for it...but it's okay, son....it's okay...I'm going to give you the same honorable execution that Ryder would've given to you.....any last words?

In the bleak moment, Barnes is suddenly shot in the spine with an arrow, causing him pain and to release Kyle, who elbows Barnes, before removing the chain from around his neck, coughing for air. With his veins becoming exposed, Barnes stumbles back, before pulling out the arrow and examining it, revealing the tip to be laced with radioactive fluid. Barnes turns to Shawn, who is loading arrow laced with radioactive fluid into the crossbow. Barnes moves in on Shawn, who shoots Barnes in the lower torso, fatally stunning him as the radioactive fluid begins to drain and weaken Barnes. Shawn loads another arrow into the crossbow as Barnes, fatally wounded, struggles to reach Shawn, who shoots another arrow laced with radioactive fluid into Barnes' chest. Barnes' veins begin to be exposed with radioactive fluids as he coughs up blood. Shawn loads another arrow into the crossbow.

Shawn: What is it you once said, Barnes? It's a cycle. A Barnes killing a Burton? Like your brother killed my Dad? Well, cycle just broke, motherfucker.

Barnes roars in anger, before Shawn shoots one final arrow laced with radioactive fluid into Barnes' heart. The dying Barnes looks at Kyle, before stumbling backwards to an opening of the parking lot, where below is the sinkhole.

Barnes: Rick...I'm coming home, you son of a bitch.

Barnes presses the arrow into his heart, finally dying and falls into the sinkhole. Shawn walks over to Kyle and helps him up.

Kyle: Saved my ass again...thank you, Shawn.....I don't know what I'd do without you.

Shawn: Well, hell...we're wasteland brothers, right? It's what we do. 

Shawn groans.

Kyle: You okay, man?

Shawn: Yeah...nothing that won't heal in time.

Shawn notices Sarah standing up, before Kyle looks back at her.

Shawn: I reckon you two need to talk.

Kyle nods, before he approaches Sarah.

Kyle: You okay?

Sarah: Yeah....it's not my first time dealing with assholes.....I once punched out Thomas' tooth out, because he was getting fresh...or it could be the fact that he was lying about not sleeping with a prostitute behind my back.

Kyle: You are one tough woman....

Kyle and Sarah laugh for a moment, before Kyle frowns, knowing he has hurt Sarah.

Kyle: Sarah, I'm sorry.....I'm so sorry...I should've told you.....I wanted to tell you so many times...I just didn't know how....I definitely didn't want you to hear about it like this.

A short pause.

Sarah: Why couldn't you just tell me right then and there? As soon as it happened?

Kyle: I guess it was because I was afraid...afraid that I would've hurt you more than it hurt me to do it.....I cared about your brother, Sarah...Please....please believe me when I tell you that I did not want to kill him.....I felt sick to my stomach and I still do every time I think about it.....I tried to talk to him, but then he shot Billy when he tried to help....he pulled a gun on Ashley...I just reacted....it pained me to kill him...but it pained me more to know that I was keeping a secret from you....you know; I wouldn't be the man I am if it weren't for you..... you're the one person I really do care for....you're my best friend...you're my world.....you're one of the few people that I have left in this godforsaken world...I can't lose you, Sarah.....every time I think I can't live...you're the one who's pulled me through....the only reason I want to stay alive now...is because of you.....I just-I just wish I could've done better...make this better...I needed you to hear it...

A few moments. Sarah sheds a tear and closes her eyes, before Sarah opens her eyes and speaks.

Sarah: Kyle...I know you....and I know you only kill to protect the ones you love....and I look in your eyes.....and I see you were just trying to protect me....Nathan couldn't see that.....I see the guilt of when you did it....that you didn't want to do it and wished you had taken it back. 

Sarah takes Kyles' hand.

Sarah: I married you because you are a good man....and I don't care what you've done.....revenge is a poison that will destroy us....it destroyed Barnes....it destroyed my brother.....I won't let it destroy me.....who I am...

Sarah becomes tearful.

Sarah: I forgive you....because that's all there is....is forgiveness....that's what makes us strong.

Sarah kisses Kyle, before she hugs him. Shawn nods his head, seeming happy that Kyle and Sarah have made up.
