Chronicles of the Apocalypse: Condemnation

Deeper in the Shallows, Walter and the captured Midtown Manhattan fighters are being dragged while connected to a chain by Scorcher, before they are taken to a torture chamber. In Dallas, Shawn, James and Tanner are interrogating the captured Condemned drone.

Shawn: So...we're going to try this again..... What are you and why are you and your...."men"...sinking cities?

Condemned Sergeant: We sink cities! To survive!

James: Holy shit...it understood you....

Tanner: it speaks English.

Condemned Sergeant: We all do, boy....Your men...lead by the man....Desipich....has fled into our tunnel systems....they will die! All of them!

Shawn punches the Condemned Sergeant.

Shawn: I really don't wanna have to start beating info out of you, but whatever you are, you can tell us.....were you human?

A short pause.

James: Come on, man....just answer the damn question.

Condemned Sergeant: Yes.....I was...

Shawn: So what happened?

Condemned Sergeant: Mutation....cannibalism....and evolution.

James: You had orders to sink cities. How are you doing that?

Condemned Sergeant: With a weapon, that not even you can stop.

During the integration, Kyle, Jake and Cameron continue moving through the tunnels as a earthquake occurs. During the earthquake, the wall shifts a little, before ceasing.

Condemned Sergeant: It is a powerful weapon.....a monster...she knows....she knows everything about your friend....Kyle Desipich...

James: And who is this she?

Condemned Sergeant: The one we serve and the one you will bow to....or burn with what remains of your world.

Shawn, aggravated, stabs the Condemned through the chin with an arrow.

Tanner: Well, fuck....

James: Why'd you do that?

Shawn: He was pissin me off....

James: Think what he said about Kyle and the rest of the group was true?

Shawn: Hell no...he was just tryin to fuck with us...

Tanner: Think we should send a scout to Ashdown just in case?

Shawn: Olden wants to make sure this city is guarded in case these assholes make another attack.

In the Condemned tunnels, Kyle, Jake and Cameron reach a new part of the cave, where they encounter a centipede like creature.

Jake: What the hell is this thing?

Kyle: Looks like giant centipede covered in rocks.

The giant centipede like creature begins eating a fruit in the cave.

Kyle: Well, it has a lot of nutrition...

Jake: Is that good for us?

Kyle: It doesn't look like it's bothered by us that much....I mean I'm standing right in front of it and it's not attacking.

Cameron: Well, while it's distracted, we can kill it.

Cameron opens fire on the armored centipede as the round bounce off the armor.

Kyle: Cameron! Whoa! Cameron! Hold your damn fire!

Jake: Shit, that thing's not even paying any attention to you, man.

Kyle: C'mon, let's move.

Jake: Hey, Kyle....you think Woody and Walter made it up there?

Kyle: I don't know I hope so....Walter's one of the toughest bastards in this wasteland so if anyone would survive, it'd be him. He and I survived the fight against Kronos together.

Cameron: So, who the hell was that big ass Condemned? The one with the dreadlocks and blades?

Kyle: No idea....crazy fuck was cutting our men in half, even one our trucks like a knife through butter.

Cameron: Think he's the leader?

Kyle: The way he looks...doubt it...He's gotta be a Condemned Lieutenant or somethin.

Jake: What? Like Barnes?

Kyle: No, but this guy made Barnes look like a goddamned tour bus guide....speaking of Barnes, I surprised I didn't see his corpse back at Ashdown.

Jake: You think he's still alive?

Kyle: Don't know. Don't care.

In a torture chamber further into the tunnels, Walter is shirtless, before he witnesses the brutal execution of a fellow Midtown Manhattan fighter by slitting his throat at the hands of a Condemned. Walter is then dragged to the center of the chamber, where the Condemned place him in restraints before his back in strapped with sharp chains, causing him to scream in pain. Scorcher approaches the bound and restrained Walter.

Scorcher: You show strength....even after the world has been destroyed for twenty-four years. May I ask how?

a short pause.

Walter: God gave me the power to survive. He saved me. So even if you kill me now, I know I'll be accepted into his castle.

Scorcher: God?

Scorcher looks up for a moment, but then looking at Walter and nodding.

Scorcher: God's not going to save you this time.

Scorcher steps back, before nodding to the Condemned torturers to the back while another Condemned torturer with a razored whip steps in front of Walter. The Condemned torturers in the back equips his razored whip, before both Condemned torturers begin to savagely whip Walter, who screams in pain. Walter talks to himself and then starts crying.

Walter: The lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. Yea, I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil.....for art thou with me...Father...be with me.

Meanwhile, Kyle, Jake and Cameron continue travelling through the tunnels, before another earthquake occurs.

Kyle: Damn! The seismic activities are getting stronger by the minute!

Jake: What the hell is causing it?!

Across from their position, the walls suddenly begin to shift faster as a heightened pace.

Jake: What the fuck?

Kyle: Well, that's not good, but I guess that's where the earthquake's are coming from.....whatever it was it's gone...let's go.

Kyle, Jake and Cameron move through the flooded systems of the cave.

Cameron: One thing I still don't get; have these things been down here since the world ended or what?

Jake: Who knows, man.

Cameron: This one guy back in Dallas; he had a theory. He thinks that these Condemened have been molded from things like dirt or radiation and that they even feed off of radioactive fluid.

Jake: That will kill anyone though...hey, Kyle, you ever think we'll see them eating radioactive fluid?

Kyle: They can eat piss and shit and fuck off for all I care.

Suddenly, an inhuman growling is heard up ahead.

Cameron: Guys, do you hear that too?

Kyle: Yep...means another target to kill.

Kyle, Jake and Cameron walk upon a tomb like formation.

Jake: I'm just going to go ahead and say it...this is not normal...it's like a demonic church.

Kyle: You were wondering where they came from, Cameron?

Suddenly, a tall Condemned dressed in priest like clothes armed with an advanced submachine gun like weapon. The Condemned priest suddenly screeches. The screech forces Kyle, Jake and John to cover their ears.

Jake: What are these guys?!

Cameron: I think we should call those things Jinns!

Kyle: I don't know and I don't care! Just shut them up!

Kyle, Jake and Cameron open fire onto the Jinn Priests in a short gunfight, before more Condemned Drones arrive in the battle. Cameron manages to shoot a Condemned drone mortally, but suddenly the Jinn priests uses its magic to revive the Condemned drone.

Jake: What the fuck?! Does that thing have some sort of magic powers?!

Kyle: Take out the Priest!

In the gunfight, Kyle manages to shoot down the Jinn Priest, causing the Condemned Drones to retreat.

Kyle: What are these things?! They have some sort of markings.

Jake: Man, this definitely must be their base....or one of them....

Kyle: Well, it's probably just an entrance or something....we gotta be getting closer to Dallas.

Cameron: Uh....Kyle...uh..

Kyle: Yeah?

Cameron: Do you really think we'll see the surface or Midtown Manhattan again?

A short pause.

Kyle: Kid...I have a wife back home to remind me about every single day on what I survive in this apocalyptic wasteland. You have a mom back home...so to answer your question; yes, I do.

Cameron: You know what, Kyle...you're right....my love for my mom is like a burning fire....as her son of course....you know fire is a valuable resource made by the cavemen...fire was also the one thing that destroyed our world...in nuclear bombs...also, my Mom caught me playing with fire once...I burned my hand and was smacked in the head for it.

In Dallas, Shawn, James, Olden and Tanner are disposing of the dead Condemned, before an Dallas Fighter approaches them.

Shawn: anything from our boys in Ashdown?

Dallas Fighter: Nothing yet.....the rig they were on has gone dark.

James: Fuck.

Shawn: Olden, with your permission, I want to take a running team out to Ashdown to search for our friends.

Olden: Son, I get it. It's your friends, but after this attack, we need all hands-on deck.

Shawn: I understand, sir, but-

Olden: Mr. Burton, if these things attack again, we're going to need you.

Suddenly, a small tremor shakes up Dallas.

Shawn: What the?

James: What is that?

Tanner: Small Tremor....perhaps...

Another larger tremor shakes up Dallas.

James: That's not a small tremor!

Underground, Kyle, Jake and Cameron walk through a set of doors, before Scorcher on his giant Flying Dragon like creature appears, forcing the three to take cover. Scorcher screeches loudly, before leaving the scene. Suddenly, a colossal Leviathan creature appears, wrapping around and destroying the pillars around Dallas, causing it to sink.

Cameron: Holy fucking shit.

During the sinking, James and Tanner are separated from Shawn while Olden slips and falls into a building. Mr. Jax is smashed by a piece of debris.

James: Jax!

Shawn narrowly manages to get to cover. Underground, Cameron, Jake and Kyle give a shocked expression.

Cameron: Holy shit! Holy shit! HOLY FUCKING SHIT!

Jake: My god! Did you fuckin see that, man?! The entire goddamn city! Just caved in! All of it!

Kyle: There using a giant digging creature to sink the cities! Unbelievable! It's a fucking monster!

Jake: What do we call that thing?

Kyle: The Leviathan .....we call it a Leviathan .....cause that is one big fucking monster....that I don't know we can kill...

Shortly after the sinking, in the aftermath, Shawn recovers from the destruction, before arming his crossbow.

Shawn: My god....

Shawn picks up his radio and talks into it.

Shawn: James! James! Can you hear me?!

James through Shawns' radio and coughing.

James: Barely...what the hell just happened?

Shawn: I don't know....where are you?

James: Near the graveyard...I've got Tanner with me, but...oh, shit! Jax is completely smashed!

Suddenly, gunfire is heard from the other end of the radio as Shawn begins to worry.

Shawn: James! James!

The radio goes dead.

Shawn: Shit.
