Chapter 7: Mansion
The soft pillow and a comfortable bed, sunlight shone into the room through the window, and the curtains with the scent of flowers breathed life into the room. Medieval culture room, using white as the main color with luxury furniture and a simple design, but stylish carpet, the room itself is no doubt made for a noble. Velmir didn't remember walking here; perhaps the real "Velmir" came. He didn't say a word, remaining silent with a pale face, carrying a heavy manner.
The wounds from that night had healed, he got off the bed, walking diagonally to the left to reach the working table next to the large balcony. However, having just woken up, he was dizzy and unintentionally broke a glass on the tea table settled in the middle of the room. The sound caught the attention of a maid, she pulled the door to go in and quickly told everyone to come in and help him secure the wound.
It didn't take long for them to do their work. As for Lucas, he immediately came to Velmir with an exhausted face, as if he hadn't been sleeping for days. The two looked at each other, and he quickly showed his care. "Are you feeling fine?" He asked while Velmir remained silent. He didn't say much but asked for a bath.
Going into the bathroom, in the middle of it, there's a resting pool in which he sat right away. After that event, he was traumatized, so he looked for warm water to calm his mind. It also seemed that Lucas knew something had happened, so he let the boy be.
"Even if it means becoming a cold-blooded killer, I still have to go back home." He said, but his body thinks otherwise; he was trembling.
After the bathing, he went to his room, where the old butler was waiting.
"Dear Lord, your body has to rest for the next 3 days. Do you have an-"
"Bring me to the library." - His voice was cold, sharp, and immediate. Knowledge, only if he had it, he would survive. Because of that, he had planned to read as many books as he could to keep his life in order to find back his old self, and to live the life "Velmir" was supposed to have "For you, and for me."
The mansion was huge, and his room was only one among the others. Moving in the corridor, portraits were everywhere on the wall, all the faces were unfamiliar to him, and the butler said it was Lucas's family. Something drew his attention, a portrait of a majestic man holding a long spear that was forged out of water! Nevertheless, he found it special. Not like any ordinary spear, that spear was different, the pale turquoise color with luminous around it felt like something that belonged to another dimension.
"You love this painting? He is the first Oracle's reader. Legend has it that he used cards to see the future. Also, he was the one who forged that spear, the Erival, and till this day, no one has either been able to use it or yet found it. Its existence is just a myth."
The old man answered him with a delighted tone, as if he were on a mission to find the spear. Whereas Velmir was interested in the name "Erival" without any specific reason. That name was too familiar to ignore; perhaps...they have the same fate. Just like he was neglected by magic, the spear couldn't find its master. In a brief moment, he whispered, "Are you lonely, Erival?" - Words spoken, not to ask but to find something that could empathize with his pain. "I bet Velmir felt it too, Erival." - He gave his last words before continuing.
Quickly, he went to the library on the other side of the mansion. In his way, he found out that this mansion is relatively large, with many rooms. Other than this main mansion, he could also see three more mansions in three different directions, and somehow, there are clouds floating not too high from this location. "Could this be a floating fortress, or was it built on a mountain peak?"
Still, he focused on his main purpose, the library. It's a large room with the wall replaced with glass on the opposite side of the door, and it even has two floors. Though there were thousands of books, he ignored everything and went in search of the religion, organisation, and history-related books. In his mind, the priority is to find the dragons framed with wings symbol, knowing his enemies, and finding out about their nature is the most important aspect of survival.
Books after books, from day to evening, and he found it, a not-so-famous charity organisation called the Albird under the protection of the Great Prophecy Church? Established during the Dragon Occurrence event?
"Every description fits, yet it could be a decoy to manipulate me. How could they do such a stupidity? I don't have the power to clarify it, but I'll stay away from that church. Also, Lucas said that all the villagers in that village were brutally killed; a normal church wouldn't do that.
After gaining what he wanted, he went for a walk around the mansion and stopped at the quiet training area, going for the spear.
"Somehow, after that incident, my body feels so light. I have to try it." But before he could reach the spear, someone approached behind him, sensing the presence of a person, he utilized what he had seen from Lucas and moved back like a feather.
That was when he realized he was in the mansion, there was no danger here, and this place was safe. Maybe the short journey formed a sharp sensation for him. Also, the person behind him is Lucas; he was trying to sneak up, but to his surprise, Velmir dodged perfectly.
Lucas then expressed an embarrassed face with a sigh and asked. "Want to train?"
"Sure." The answer was spilled out immediately.
They then both picked up their spear and took a stance. Lucas went first, thrusting his spear at Velmir, but he dodged to the left, miming the speed-up movement he had observed. He lowered his center of gravity and dashed toward, followed by an upward stab. Nevertheless, Lucas was never that easy to defeat; he used his other hand to change the direction of his spear, knocked Velmir's spear out, swept his leg, and once again changed its path to aim for the head. He stopped at a close distance, with the spear in front of Velmir's forehead.
None of them used magic, yet Lucas found out the talent of his friend. His eyes widened, filled with hope as if he saw a bright future. He pulled Velmir up, looking straight into his eyes. "You're talented. Tomorrow, come here." - Through his short sentence, he lit up the light in Velmir's eyes once again, the feeling of recognition clouded his mind, it gave him hope of a future. A future where he could survive.
