Chat Group : Another Fate From Honkai

Chapter 150: Chapter 147 – Prepare to Die

Nagami skillfully replicated some unidentifiable currency, handing it to the clerk and instructing him to deliver dinner to their room later.

Holding Yuzuriha Inori's delicate little hand, he led her toward the room he had reserved.

A luxurious double room.

Although he had already taught Inori the basics of everyday life, she hadn't exactly had much real-world experience.

Letting her sleep alone in a room made Nagami a bit uneasy.

And let's be real—after just experiencing a "double-bun sandwich with cheese," how could he possibly resist a chance like this?

"Inori, we've had a full day of fun, have you—wait, what are you doing?!"

Nagami's expression froze in shock as the girl beside him suddenly began undressing!

She clumsily untied the sash at her waist, letting her black dress—with its purple floral patterns—slip down her graceful figure.

Her flawless, porcelain-like shoulders and dazzling collarbones came into view, her skin glowing like scented jade.

Then, she stepped out of the dress, her soft, fair feet touching the floor.

Her pure, delicate skin was now exposed to the air.

Her snowy white arms and long, sleek legs looked like they belonged in a sculpture, and the black lace underwear she still wore only highlighted her soft, milky skin—so smooth it looked like it would bounce back if touched.

Just as she was about to take off the final piece, Nagami hurriedly grabbed her slender arm.

"Inori, haven't I told you not to take off your clothes in front of a boy?"

Granted… all the clothes she was wearing were ones Nagami had picked for her, but still.

"I-it's not... You're not..."

???

Nagami's expression twisted.

What did that even mean?

When was I not a boy?

Oh… wait a second.

If you count C.C., then yeah—biologically speaking, maybe "Nagami" couldn't exactly be classified as a male.

So… Inori's comment kind of made sense… right?

Like hell it does!

Mentally and spiritually, he was definitely a guy!

Nagami's aura shifted, growing serious and sharp.

Looking into Inori's blank, doe-eyed expression, he sighed, ruffling her silky hair.

"Listen. Remember this—you can't just undress in front of me like that. Not yet, okay?"

Her wine-red eyes stared at him, confused.

Slowly, she tilted her head to the right, then after a moment, tilted it to the left, still trying to process what he meant.

Her smooth, pink hair flowed like silk with the motion.

Cardiac arrest incoming.

Nagami took a few deep breaths, trying to calm his racing heart like he'd just gotten off a roller coaster.

He gently placed his hands on her soft shoulders, turned her around, and pushed her into the bathroom, closing the door behind her before quickly stepping away.

Crossing his arms, he walked to the window and stared out at the unfamiliar cityscape.

Moonlight spilled through the clouds, and towering skyscrapers loomed like steel giants.

Neon lights painted the city in vivid, surreal colors.

What a stunningly beautiful and bustling city.

Honestly, with a night like this, it'd feel wrong not to commit some crime or two.

Nagami decided—once Inori fell asleep, he'd sneak out to locate the Origin Stone and Void Genome.

The first was likely hidden in a secret Void research facility.

The latter should be in the Genomic Institute where Shuichiro Keido, the head of Void research, worked.

Keido was the older brother of Haruka Ouma—also known as the uncle of Shu Ouma.

Earlier at the amusement park, Nagami had already used a high-cost Honkai-powered scanning skill to survey the entire city.

With his unique energy signature, detecting abnormal reactions had been easy.

There was no need for complex setups or tricks.

All he had to do now was charge straight in and take them.

He had no intention of getting involved with Funeral Parlor or any of that drama.

As long as he could extract both the Apocalypse Virus and the consciousness of Ouma Mana—also known as "Eve"—from Inori and take them out of this world, then there would be no more apocalyptic threats to this dimension.

Aside from those two things, nothing else in this world would help him grow stronger.

And as for all that political nonsense about human governments? He wasn't interested.

Currently, Japan in this world was in a state of anarchy.

Years ago, the "Apocalypse Virus" triggered nationwide chaos.

After the "Lost Christmas" incident, Tokyo's Roppongi district was sealed off, and Japan essentially lost its sovereignty.

That's when an organization called GHQ stepped in and took control of the country under the pretense of restoring order, offering a superficial form of self-governance.

For a while, people enjoyed a brief period of peace.

But GHQ was, in truth, a supranational coalition of several powerful countries.

Honestly, no matter how you looked at it, the whole situation was absurd.

Sometimes, reality really is stranger than fiction.

That saying wasn't just lip service.

Still… if GHQ pushed things too far, Nagami wouldn't mind leaving them a little gift on his way out—a miniature sun, perhaps.

But wiping out GHQ would just create another problem—rogue armed factions nearby would jump at the opportunity.

Even if a hero slays the evil dragon and leaves, a new one will always rise from the ashes of power.

That's just how human history works.

This—this was exactly why Nagami couldn't be bothered with all that political nonsense.

"Hmm?"

The sound of running water snapped him out of his thoughts.

"Water?"

He turned toward the bathroom.

A slow stream of water was seeping out from under the door.

With a light smack to his forehead, Nagami sighed.

After hesitating for a second, he pushed the door open.

"Inori, what are you—"

His words cut off mid-sentence.

The girl sat blankly in the middle of the bathroom, kneeling with her legs slightly apart.

Under the cold bathroom light, her smooth, pale legs looked like flawless jade—gracefully shaped, soft and even-toned.

Her dainty toes occasionally wiggled playfully.

Her delicate, porcelain-like body was fully exposed.

The showerhead still sprayed onto the floor, while the bathtub had long since overflowed.

"Nagami… I… don't know how to use it…"

Her airy voice instantly calmed the storm inside his chest.

Looking into her clear, innocent eyes and her vacant, doll-like expression, Nagami inexplicably relaxed.

"…Alright. I'll help you wash this time."

"Mm."

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, a middle-aged man with a stern expression was striding down a corridor toward the lab.

His face was more serious than ever.

Trailing behind him were several scientists in white lab coats, their expressions strained, walking as if on thin ice.

None of them dared to look up, their eyes fixed on the man's heels, ready to bow at a moment's notice.

Every soldier they passed stood at attention and saluted him deeply.

"Prime Minister."

Though the title sounded grand, in truth, he was just a figurehead chosen by several nations to act as the public face of authority.

It was a clever setup—after all, it still looked like Japan was being governed by Japanese officials.

Anyone who knew the truth didn't need an explanation.

But aside from being the so-called Prime Minister, this man was also the Director of the Void Genome Research Institute.

Yes—Shuichiro Keido!

Most of the personnel were ordered to stay outside the lab. Only a few followed Keido into the inner chamber.

"Director, if you'll just let us expl—"

Cold sweat dripped down the researcher's face as he tried to speak, but Keido raised his hand, cutting him off mid-sentence.

He stared at the open cultivation chamber in front of him, silently.

"…Leave."

It was a long while before he finally spoke.

His voice was flat, void of any emotion.

The researcher opened his mouth as if to protest, but quickly thought better of it.

Bowing slightly, he quietly exited the room.

Once Keido was alone, the air began to shimmer with an invisible energy.

Silvery threads of light, glowing with strange colors, flowed out of the void—twisting and weaving into thousands of ethereal strands.

Slowly, they gathered, coalescing into a humanoid shape.

Then, the form solidified into a golden-haired, blue-eyed boy.

Despite his youthful appearance, his elegant face exuded a noble and ancient aura.

Keido wasn't surprised in the slightest.

Because he knew very well—

This boy wasn't human.

He was a Gravekeeper of Thanatos—a sentinel from the lost civilization of Da'at, and a manifestation of the system that governed human will: the Divine Consciousness.

Put simply, he was the embodiment of biological evolution's will—though not quite the same entity as the true evolutionary force itself.

The Gravekeeper could witness the fall and rebirth of worlds.

And he possessed eternal life.

"Eve's vessel has been taken," the boy said casually, floating horizontally in the air.

"And it seems you have no idea who took her."

"…"

A deathly silence fell over the room—cold and suffocating, like a graveyard at midnight.

A dark shadow loomed over Shuichiro Keido.

"I will find her."

The man who sought to become the new world's Adam spoke with icy resolve.

"Heh… well then, good luck."

With a light chuckle, the boy's body once again dissolved into silver ribbons of light, vanishing into the void.

But his voice echoed one last time, soft and chilling:

"Just remember, Keido—your time is running out."
