She felt embarrassed, so she kept silent. Jihak, who looked into the bushes, raised his wooden bow. Then he smiled.

“You seem to be curious, but you don’t ask.”

“What do you mean…?”

“My eyes. I’m not completely blind. I’ve never tried to hide it. But the high officials really think I’m blind.”

Eunha stared at the space between the bushes to which he had pointed. As his gaze became more focused, a sinister determination to harm was evident. Eunha exhaled as goosebumps appeared on her skin.

The arrow flew in a straight line until it hit something. She heard something heavy fall to the ground. It didn’t sound like an animal.

His eyes were still looking towards the prey. Jihak opened his mouth,

“Because no one in the world can tell them the truth.”

Eunha had a serious look on her face. He took her slender chin.

“I have only hunted that which has tried to take my life. I am like you.”

The clouds blocked the sun. They did not look away.

Sometimes one life had to be taken to save another.

Eunha felt strangely heartbroken. Jihak was right.

She would not like to be hunted.

Suddenly, she fired diagonally into the forest.

Jihak’s calm face hardened, the gunpowder causing every nerve in his body to tingle. The bullet had grazed him.

A wolf was close to him. The projectile struck a stone just ahead of the wolf’s paws. The wolf, which was ready to attack him, began to flee into the dark forest.

Eunha lowered the rifle.

“I don’t seem to be as agile to handle this weapon. I’m not the same as before.”

Jihak took hold of her neck and compelled her to stand on her tiptoes.

His face came slowly closer. His lips touched her forehead which was damp with cold sweat. Then he bent his upper body to bite her lip.

“I will engrave those words in my heart.”

Eunha closed her eyes. Her face was red.

“There is a warrior here.”

“Are you afraid I’ll tear your clothes off?”

“That’s not all. I smell sweat too…”

“That’s not a problem.”

A log touched her back as she walked backwards. A little snow fell from the tree. He placed the wooden bow on the ground, then lowered his lips to her neck.

Goosebumps emerged on her skin where he ran his tongue. When he reached inside her thick coat, she turned her head in embarrassment. She was surprised.

An attendant rushed up to Jihak.

“My Lord! Visitors have arrived. Even the Princess’s fiancé.”

“Eunha has been engaging in some intriguing actions recently. She seems to be trying to improve her relationship with the attendees.”

Yuljae didn’t respond as Jihak wiped his bloody hands. He felt his blood run dry when he mentioned Eunha with a smile.

He might be the only one in the royal family who was on Jihak’s side. They couldn’t lose someone like him, Yuljae blocked Jihak’s path.

“Maybe he can make an awkward request. But he will also be your only ally. My lord, you must be patient.”
