Weekly Chapter 4/6

“Eunha.”

Her shoulders shook when she heard her name.

She seemed to have realized that she hadn’t just come for tea.

“You.”

Her feet were numb because she immediately wanted to leave this place. The person who had belittled her sister no longer seemed friendly.

“It’s been a while since I last saw you.”

Heein calmly smiled.

“You know me?”

“Of course. You clung to my skirt as you cried for your father’s life.”

Eunha raised her head. She did not fully understand her words.

“What do you mean?”

“Your father was a reader. He dared to enter the ladies’ bedchambers, read false stories to belittle the royal family. Your father’s actions nearly resulted in the King’s demise. I guess you didn’t know that. If you had known how your father died, you would never have become my brother’s reader.”

The scent of tea is dispersed in the wind.

“The Crown Prince was the cause of your father’s death. He had joined a rebel group that wanted to kill my brother. Just leave my brother’s house as if you knew nothing. I brought you here to tell you that.”

Eunha stood up after looking at Heein’s teacup. Her hands were shaking, so to appear calm she grabbed her skirt.

“I don’t think that’s the place for me.”

“No matter what you think. Don’t step where it’s not your path. Keep in mind that the most vigorous flowers are the first to pluck.”

“Yes…”

After she politely bowed, she left the tea room. Eunha put on her straw sandals.

She could hear the laughter. She walked outside.

She had to check the facts with her sister. At that time, her sister was older than her, so she should have remembered her father’s death more clearly.

She hated her sister, pitied her father. In case Yongi knew, perhaps she felt guilty because her father was a criminal who committed treason.

“Eunha!”

Eunha, who frantically ran toward Sihoon’s house, was grabbed.

Only then did her thoughts stop.

“Chunhee…?”

“Where are you going?”

“I must meet Yongi.”

“Yongi isn’t there! Shhh… There’s a weird guy following us. Let’s go.”

Chunhee embraced Eunha firmly, as though overjoyed to see her, and then encircled her in her arms. But Eunha looked skeptical, so she whispered in her ear.

“It was Young who told me you were coming to the fabric store. She wants to run away with you. Follow me. I’ll take you to where she is.”

After the merchants left the mansion, the attendants illuminated the place.

Jihak’s eyes remained on the busy attendants. The day had grown dark enough to light a torch. But Eunha had not yet returned.

The last person she had met with was his sister.

Had she really run away?

He coldly smiled. A sudden anxiety came over him.

Yuljae, who had returned, knelt before him.

“They say she disappeared, my Lord. Everyone is looking for her.”

Jihak bowed his head.

A lengthy cloth of royal blue silk waved in the breeze coming from the rear garden. With every gust, the embroidered golden dragon scales seemed to come alive. Jihak’s gaze turned to Yuljae as the torch casting light over the courtyard flickered.

Jihak deeply sighed.

It was just a woman he had slept with several times.

“Search for her all over the kingdom… At least find her body.”
