3. Meeting. Meeting. More Meeting…

│1st Person POV of Uchiha Fugaku│

[The Land of Fire, Village Hidden in the Leaf (Konohagakure), Uchiha Clan Compound...]

As the time to start the Clan Meeting arrived, I noticed that apart from a few Clan Elders, every Uchiha with three-tomoe Sharingan was already present.

These few Elders always made a scene whenever I hosted Clan Meetings prior to my memory awakening because they were not satisfied with the way I handled things as the Clan Head.

It seems that even in such a dire time, they are choosing to stubbornly continue to stand opposite to me.

Time passed and a few minutes later, the remaining Elders arrived, just in time to start the Clan Meeting.

"Fugaku, what happened at the Emergency Meeting today?" One of the old Clan Elders asked as everyone took their seats.

"At the meeting, the first agenda to be discussed was deciding who will lead us now that Minato is dead." As I said this, I took note of everyone's expression, "It was decided that Senju Tsunade would be called back to be appointed as the Fifth Hokage.

"Additionally, Hiruzen, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru would be appointed as Village Elders. Until Tsunade is brought back, Hiruzen will oversee Konoha as its temporary head."

As I finished speaking, Uchiha Yagami, one of the Elders, questioned hotly, "Tell me, Fugaku, were you even considered for taking the mantle of Hokage? or even as an Elder? After all, you are the strongest among your generation after the Fourth Hokage."

"I wasn't. In fact, I was the one who proposed to have Tsunade as the Fifth Hokage and the other three as Elders."

Almost everyone's face shifted to one of shock after hearing my words. After a brief pause, just as one of the Elders seemed ready to explode, I went on, "I understand that most of you are angered by my actions. However, I also recognize that I don't have the standing to become Hokage—neither the Village nor the Daimyo would accept such a choice.

"That said, I am also aware of how crucial it is for a member of our Clan to hold the title of Hokage. For that reason, I've decided that I will do whatever it takes to ensure that the Sixth Hokage is an Uchiha."

Whatever the Elders and the others wanted to say to criticize my actions, got stuck in their throats at my declaration.

"What are you planning to do, Fugaku?" Uchiha Takashi, another Clan Elder, asked with a frown on his face.

"Before I tell you all my plan, let me finish reporting everything that happened in the Emergency Meeting," Seeing no one objecting, I continued, "After deciding the potential Fifth Hokage, Danzo suddenly asked me to explain why the Kyuubi's eyes reflected the Sharingan during the initial period of the attack.

"Naturally, I denied any involvement of our Clan. It isn't possible to control the Kyuubi without a Mangekyou Sharingan and I know for sure that there isn't anybody in our Clan who has awakened those eyes. In response to Danzo's suspicion, I presented my own speculation.

"The person responsible for the Kyuubi Attack was likely either a surviving member of the Uzumaki Clan who stole a pair of Sharingan that eventually evolved into Mangekyou, or potentially a descendant of Uchiha Madara."

"What?!"

"What are you saying, Fugaku-sama?!"

"Mangekyou Sharingan??!!"

"Uchiha Madara's descendant? An Uzumaki using our dojutsu to control the Kyuubi? How is that possible?!!!"

Shocked exclamations echoed throughout the meeting once everyone processed my words.

"Why is it impossible for Madara to have a descendant outside the Village? After all, he had defected from Konoha for several years before he came back with the Kyuubi to attack the Village.

"As for an Uzumaki using Mangekyou to control the Kyuubi, it is also possible if we take into consideration that Hatake Kakashi, who is just a 14 years old boy, is capable of using a single three-tomoe Sharingan. I believe that with their potent Chakra and massive reserve, the Uzumaki's are capable of handling even the Mangekyou Sharingan."

The meeting room descended into silence as everyone tried to reconcile with the explanation I provided. Just then, a person from the back proposed a question in a small voice.

"Fugaku-sama, why would an Uzumaki want to attack Konoha? They were our allies, right?"

Looking over, I saw that the one who asked the question was none other than Shisui Uchiha. Even though he is only ten years old now, he was allowed to attend this meeting because his Sharingan has already progressed to the three-tomoe stage.

Though I don't know if he had already awakened the Mangekyou or not, I don't know when and how he awakened them in Canon either. I have to keep an eye on him in the future and also look through his past mission records.

Pushing those thoughts to the back of my mind, I answered, "Shisui, a Shinobi must always look underneath the underneath. Yes, the Uzumaki were our allies. So how is it possible that we couldn't rescue even a single Uzumaki before Uzushiogakure was destroyed?

"After their Village was destroyed, Konoha hasn't received any news of even a single survivor out there. I am sure there are at least a few survivors present throughout the Elemental Nations.

"Additionally, Konoha also didn't get wind of three great Hidden Villages conspiring together to attack Uzushio until after the attack happened. I don't believe such a thing is possible without at least one of the upper echelons sabotaging the Village's intelligence.

"If I can think of such things, naturally any surviving member of the Uzumaki Clan can also come to this conclusion. In such a scenario, they must be bursting with anger and hatred toward us, wanting to take revenge against Konoha.

"As for the matter of how they could have gotten their hands on our dojutsu? Well, we failed to retrieve the bodies of several Clan Members like Uchiha Jiro, Uchiha Arashi, Uchiha Zoro, etc. during the Third Great Ninja War. It is possible for their bodies to end up in the hands of our enemies.

"So, it is very well possible that a Uzumaki with Sharingan is out there, waiting for the opportune moment to attack the village again. If not, then the assailant is likely a descendant of Madara. Don't forget, the Kyuubi was summoned right outside our Clan Compound after all.

"More importantly—"

"There's more?" One Clan Member murmured words that interrupted my spiel.

In response, nearly everyone else glared at him. I gave him a patient smile and continued, "Yes, there's more. More importantly, as the meeting progressed, almost every Clan Head's ire was diverted from our Clan to Danzo.

"All of them were incessed that his orders prevented us, the Konoha Military Police Force, from participating in the fight against the Kyuubi Attack. Additionally, the fact that Danzo sent Orochimaru on a mission during such a crucial period was also brought up, despite the fact he didn't have any authority to send one of the Legendary Sannin on a mission. If the Third Hokage hadn't forcefully diverted the topic, I imagine the Council may have called for Danzo to be investigated."

"HMPF~!! Of course that old coot would do anything to prevent his co-conspirator being investigated. He surely knows that once Danzo gets investigated, his own dark secret would also come to light."

Uchiha Setsuna commented with a sneer on his face. He is the Elder with the most authority and prestige in the Clan. His authority is second only to mine. He is also the one who is most dissatisfied with the way I operate things in the Clan.

Hearing his statement, I focused on Shisui and as expected, he was looking at Elder Setsuna with a frown on his face, hinting that he was dissatisfied with the Elder's evaluation.

This naive kid, even with his exceptional perspective and intuition, fell into the belief that Hiruzen and Co are incapable of doing any wrongdoings.

I have to beat the naivety out of him if I want to prevent him from trusting Hiruzen and ilk with something as important as Mangekyou. In Canon, he foolishly went to meet with Danzo in a secluded place that is perfect for silently taking care of someone. He never even entertained the idea that Dnazo could turn on him.

Anyway, ignoring Shisui's naivety, for now, I shared the rest of the content of the Emergency Meeting.

As I had expected, none of the Elders were happy with my decision to use the Clan's fund in such a way.

"Fugaku, you can't just take such an important decision without consulting us first." Elder Setsuna was the first to express his displeasure.

Following his lead, a few more Elders started reprimanding me as well.

I let them do so without any interruption for a few moments with a calm look on my face. Once they quieted down, I asked, "Anyone else have something they want to say?"

Then, without waiting for them to answer, I continued, "I did what I did in order to make it clear to everyone at the meeting that the Uchiha Clan absolutely didn't have anything to do with the Kyuubi Attack. I know that not everyone will drop their suspicion because of this, however, I firmly believe that at least the majority of them will.

"Moreover, Danzo won't stay quiet after facing such a setback because of me. He will surely try to sway the opinions of the Civilians and make them distrust the Uchiha Clan. The majority of Konoha's Shinobi population comes from a Civilian background. It doesn't matter that not many of them reach the rank of Jonin.

"What matters is that these Civilian Shinobis will easily fall for any negative rumors about us and they will in turn, slowly but surely, sway the opinions of the Clan Shinobis against us. This absolutely cannot happen.

"The Uchiha Clan may be the strongest Clan of Konoha, however, we aren't strong enough to face the entire might of the strongest Shinobi Village and come out unscathed.

"To ensure that such a scenario never happens, I decided to take such a decision on behalf of the Clan, and it is my right to do so as the Clan Head. While you can say that I should have consulted you all before announcing this decision in front of the Council, I believe that only being decisive and taking advantage of every opportunity will definitely enable us to thrive and grow stronger."

All the critics had no retort for my words.

Noticing this, I continued my explanation, "Besides, there are other benefits that this program will bring to our Clan. Once the Civilians know about this, the Uchiha Clan's impression among them will surely rise. This will ensure an easier path for one of us to take the position of Hokage.

"Furthermore, I also have a proposal that will not only earn us the majority of the money that will be used to fund this program, but also further boost the favorability of our Clan."

Everyone visibly perked up upon hearing this.

"While rebuilding our Clan Compound, I think we should also build some areas that will be open to others. In the past, our Clan Compound had been mostly isolated from the Villagers and this type of isolation makes it easier for someone like Danzo to spread negative rumors and stereotypes about us. We should build some establishment that will attract the attention of Civilians and maybe even the Nobles of the Land of Fire."

"Your idea has some merits, Fugaku." Elder Takashi said while stroking his beard, "Building such an establishment will not only make our Clan more approachable, it will also make it easier for us to establish positive relations with the Nobles. This will also deter others from taking any actions against us."

Most of the other Elders and Clan Members also nodded upon hearing Elder Takashi.

"And what exactly will be building?" Elder Setsuna challenged.

I smirked and uttered just two words, "Cat Cafe!"

"Cat–"

"–Cafe??!!"

Almost everyone had stars in their eyes.

"Fugaku-sama, what exactly is a Cat Cafe?" One of the Uchiha Jonin asked with excitement on their face.

"A Cat Cafe is a place where anyone can come and spend time playing with cats. Additionally, there are numerous stray cats in Konoha that we can adopt and give them a place to call home." I explained with a smile.

Immediately after, the majority of the Clan Members present in the meeting room agreed with my proposition with stars in their eyes.

A designated place for petting fluffy cats? That's the best thing that can happen. No self-respecting Uchiha would ever deny being fond of Cats.

Soon, with the help of Cats, the Uchiha Clan will rule the world.

│3rd Person POV │

[The Land of Fire, Village Hidden in the Leaf (Konohagakure), Hokage Office...]

'Why? Why do I have to face this accursed enemy of mine again? Why did you decide to sacrifice yourself, Minato? If only I had been a few minutes faster, I could have taken Minato's place and wouldn't have to suffer now. I wonder if you used the Reaper Death Seal to escape from paperwork, Minanto.'

Sarutobi Hiruzen thought to himself bitterly while handling the mountain of paperwork piled up on the Hokage's desk.

Bang–!

Just then, the door to the office was blown inward and as Hiruzen looked up, he saw his old friend and comrade stomped into the office. Hiruzen immediately signaled the ANBU unit stationed in the Hokage's Office to leave before activating a seal that ensured their conversation would remain secret.

"How many times do I have to tell you to not barge in like that, Danzo?"

Danzo, ignoring the Third Hokage's question and his actions, asked with a glare, "Hiruzen, you saw how the Uchiha Clan Head behaved during the Emergency Meeting in the early morning.

"And now, I just received news that the Uchiha Clan held a meeting that lasted well over an hour. I am telling you, Hiruzen, the Uchiha Clan is up to no good. I am sure that they are the ones responsible for the Kyuubi Attack."

Hiruzen let out a sigh and took a long drag from his pipe to calm his rising irritation. He then asked, "So, what do you want me to do?"

"We should increase the surveillance on the Uchiha Clan." Danzo replied immediately. He also took out a map of the village and placed it in front of Hiruzen after unfolding it, nearly knocking over the pile of paperwork in the process.

Hiruzen's eyes twitched upon seeing this. If that had happened, he wasn't sure he could have refrained himself from strangling Danzo to death.

Taking a closer look at the map, Hiruzen noticed that the locations of a few Clans were different on the map. He had an inclination of what Danzo was aiming to do. To confirm his suspicions, he questioned.

"What is this?"

"This is the map according to which we will rebuild the Village. A few Clans had been requesting to relocate their Clan compounds for quite some time. Taking this opportunity, we should also relocate the Uchiha Clan from the center to this location," Danzo pointed at one corner of the map while saying so.

"This way, all the evil Uchiha would be gathered in one location and we can monitor them more easily. Additionally—"

"Danzo, enough!"

Danzo froze upon hearing Hiruzen's command. He raised his head, locked eyes with his friend, and finally noticed his stormy expression.

"Do you know what would happen if you were to target the Uchiha Clan in such a direct manner?" Hiruzen asked and then continued without waiting for a response, "Fugaku won't hesitate to tear you apart like last time and this time, even I wouldn't be able to stop all the Major and Minor Clans from banding together and launch an investigation on you.

"Then, with all the things you have done in the name of the village will come to light and the best outcome for you would be death after a brutal investigation."

Facing Hiruzen's outburst, Danzo was stunned. He didn't expect Hiruzen to outright confront him like this.

"I know you have been doing some despicable things behind my back for quite some time, Danzo. I mostly ignore them because of your contributions in regard to the Village's safety and prosperity. However, you go too far sometimes. I may have forgiven your past transgressions, but the others will not.

"So, if you don't want to face a fate worse than death then, once Tsunade takes office, you should retire and enjoy the rest of your years peacefully. I have absolute faith in Tsunade and the others.

"They will be able to protect the Village from all harm and make it prosper. So, take my advice and enjoy a life of retirement. Stop targeting the Uchiha. Nothing good will ever come out of it. Now, go!

"As you can see, I have piles of paperwork to finish before the meeting tonight."

Hiruzen threw the map back at Danzo's feet and returned his attention back to the paperwork. He also disabled the privacy seals, prompting the ANBU unit to retake their positions in the Hokage office.

Danzo stood speechless for a few moments, his brain struggling to comprehend what just happened.

Finally, he came to his senses and after picking up the map, he slowly walked out of the office. Just before he crossed the door, he glanced back and muttered, "You will regret this, Hiruzen!"

Hiruzen clearly heard his muttering but he didn't say anything until the sound of Danzo's walking stick no longer reached his ears.

"I regret not taking a firm stance against you earlier, Danzo!"
