Chapter 593: The Culmination
BOOM!
Their clash exploded, uprooting what little else that could be called greenery. Chang Ping's incorporeal body was blown away to a dozen different pieces, "What the hell!?" a blob raised a commotion.
"Hahaha! You can still talk even in that sorry state!? Let's see if you can run your mouth if you're turned to powder!"
Qinyang followed through and started cutting up the floating blobs of blood. Her sword moved like the ferocious wind, cutting everything it hit.
Chang soon discovered that pain existed even when her body was split into different blobs of blood.
For a moment, Chang Ping panicked. Her body had just been split into several pieces, but soon she realized that if she could still feel pain, she could feel her body. If she could feel her body, it was possible to control. And that's what she did.
"Augg~I did it!" Chang Ping forced her body back together and at that moment, a shadow cast upon her and from above was Qinyang. Her sword raised up with a celebratory smile streak on her face.
Her sword-wielding arm was cut in all sides. Purplish blood was flowing out her blackening veins but as she flapped her tainted wings, Qinyang was instead jovial. For she had proven, she was "capable" of using her Father's sword. Once more, Qinyang gathered her strength.
She reeled her sword once more. The Abyss wailed in pain, echoing from Qinyang's sword.
"Blood Seeking Sword—"
[It's infuriating.]
Chang Ping had trained for millenia. Reached enlightenment, and sought out battlefields to even get a glimpse of power the Blood Seeking Sword held. Yet, like the world was protecting her and spoon feeding one ability after another.
She was growing stronger. Becoming far more dangerous, exceedingly fast.
Chang Ping tapped into the latent power of cultivation. Becoming the first ever Ancestral Realm cultivator. But… she was grasping at the dark.
Qinyang on the other hand was becoming more monstrous in every sense of the word with each passing second. Now that she had tapped into what Chang Ping only imagined as the tortured souls of the damned, Qinyang had become even deadlier than she already was.
And at the moment. As she finally regained the upper hand, Qinyang followed her instincts. She chose not to give the "Revenant" any chance to breathe. She had gained momentum and even with cracked bones and broken wrists, Qinyang held her body together with qi, "—Blood Fall~"
But as said many times before.
Chang Ping was far more experienced than Qinyang.
"Form!" The scattered blood answered Chang Ping's calls and gathered around Qinyang's broken right wrist, "Ancestral Blood Chains!"
"What the… I can't break it! Wai—-kyaaaa!!"
Grabbing hold of the chain link made of blood, Chang Ping pulled and dragged Qinyang back down.
BAM!
Qinyang was violently smashed on the ground, interfering with her execution of the Blood Falls.
"Bastard!!!!!!!"
BOOM!
"What the!? Sound Wave Attack!!" Chang Ping covered her ears as the roar of anger from Qinyang reverberated inside her like that of a screeching banshee, "She's gaining more abilities she doesn't even kn—"
"Got you!"
Qinyang appeared right in front of Chang Ping in the split second she was disoriented by the sudden sound attack. In front of Chang Ping was Qinyang's right hand or at least what was left of it quickly regenerating.
[She abandoned her broken right wrist!?] Chang Ping was taken by surprise.
Qinyang did not know why the Revenant hesitated when it said it would take things seriously. All that mattered was that she saw an opening and she took it without a moment's hesitation. The moment she saw the Revenant stumble, Qinyang initiated an incorrect circulation of qi in her body.
She used Phoenix blood or at least what she believed was Phoenix blood and used its volatile property to explode her wrist freeing her from the Revenant's chains. And now, as her right hand reformed, as the veins realigned, Qinyang regained the upper hand.
Her hand was a mere inch away from grabbing hold of Qinyang's face. Qinyang coated herself with qi to ensure she would be able to grab hold of the Revenant, so that she could end the drawn out fight that felt like it spanned for months.
But then, she felt something wrap around her ankles. She looked down and saw the chains she broke free from were now on her ankles.
Chang Ping (The Revenant) smiled.
"You may be getting stronger by the Abyss? But if you go anywhere near me. Then, that's my world." Chang Ping — The Revenant — coldly said and pulled Qinyang down.
Qinyang resisted and stomped on the ground attempting to blow away the blood pool underneath, "Storm Phoenix's Claws! Maelstrom!"
CRASH!
The blood around her was blown away but she winced in pain as she felt spikes made of blood had penetrated her foot.
[That's going to be another 3 seconds of unusable limb. If I can just infiltrate her bloodstream I can neutralize he—]
BOOM!
Chang Ping's thoughts were cut off right. Qinyang's left foot exploded just like her wrist and hand earlier.
Qinyang grimaced in pain.
Chang Ping looked on in shock.
The two minds raced.
[She's stronger again.]
[This Revenant is creating techniques from thin air. Father truly is a master of all things. This is not good.]
The two could feel the increasing power that was
Not only so, but the wails of the damned echoed with no end. Penetrating even her own defenses, [If not for my form, I would be coughing blood now.]
Qinyang was becoming more dangerous with every beat of the clock.
[She's becoming stronger faster than before. It's crazy how much she's capable of changing in such a short amount of time. If she grows any more powerful, I won't be able to pull back my punches. That's alarming and I can feel my time ticking down.] Chang Ping could no longer limit her techniques, but more than that, she was slowly losing strength, [The Ancestral Realm is too bizarre. I can feel its power surging within me.
[He's too strong. As expected of Father's copy. But, if this goes on, I don't think I'll be able to beat him. Although I feel fine his attacks are keeping me from getting on the beat. It will only stack and before long I will be defeated. Fighting this Revenant is too hard. And there's also that bastard (Aether/Emperor of Death) skulking around. I can't lower my guard.] Qinyang was also worried.
The two could not even get a good grip on each other. They were worried about each other's movements and actions.
The two knew they needed to seize the chance themselves. That whoever gains the upper hand would be able to further dictate the fight.
That whoever managed to dictate the fight would no longer allow the other to regain themselves.
Flap!
With a flap of her black wings. It was Chang Ping who took the initiative to move.
[Chunking my flesh is taking a lot from me. Thankfully it is only the small places so it doesn't take long to recover my meridians. It is taxing but with this, any interference on my regenerative capabilities have been pushed out. The Revenant's confused and distracted. I can take his head. Now, use the bloodlines of both Father and Mother. Call forth the strength of the Devils and the Primordials—]
While Chang Ping was still recovering, Qinyang raised her sword once more.
Her muscles tensed and then immediately relaxed as per her commands and what felt natural.
She commanded her body with great accuracy.
[ —then use the power of the Primordials and the Angels to call forth and enhance the power of the elements.]
Fwu!
Qinyang called upon fire and set her sword ablaze and the purple flames of the dead appeared.
She called upon the storms to rouse the flames to a massive hellfire storm and the screeches of the dead echoed with the gale of death.
She asked the earth to hold and isolate the Revenant and dozens of Abyssal Demons as well as Revenants appeared from the earth to hold the Revenant's ankles pinning him to the ground.
Then finally Qinyang unconsciously gathered the resentment of the death. the lingering bloodlust of tens of thousands of souls. She gathered it to the tip of her blade.
"Blood Seeking Sword! Blood Falls!"
A sword oozing with killing intent. Surrounded by ghastly purple flames and the stench of death.
The screech of the suffering souls rocked the abyss together with Qinyang.
"DIE!" She was dedicated to ending the Revenant.
And yet, the Revenant did not even try to dodge her sword. It stood there, motionless with its arm raised.
"What is it doing?"
Was it trying to catch the sword?
Was it going to parry?
Sacrifice a limb?
There was no one to answer her. But that was alright because soon enough she saw blood gathering at its raised hand.
Soon the blood became a chain link that when she traced it arrived at her right thigh where the blood splattered touch earlier.
"On no!"
Chang Ping crashed to the ground filled with blood and that was when she realized that while she was gathering power to kill the Revenant, it was also gathering itself back together.
Immediately, Qinyang resolved herself to sever another limb but Chang Ping was quick to spread her blood all over the former's body.
Qinyang stopped immediately as the blood reached her waist.
She looked at the Revenant who smiled at her grimly.
"Try blowing yourself up again." Chang Ping taunted.
"You can bind me but I just need to kill you and it will all disappear and I can finally escaped this wasteland and return to my parents!" her roar sounded out from Qinyang and resolved herself to go through with what she was originally going to do. She tightly held her sword's hilt and swung it down with all her might.
This time the Blood Fall was the strongest she had ever mustered. This was her greatest attack in all her life and Chang Ping reacted by no creating a sword to parry her.
She did not react by dodging. Neither did she run away.
She simply yanked the
Flicking the blood chains, Chang Ping yanked Qinyang towards Chang Ping, disrupting the former's aim.
Slash!
The sword slash missed.
BOOM!
An explosion followed ravaging the earth leaving only destruction for kilometers. A massive ravine formed but all of that was ignored by Chang Ping.
SlasH!
Qinayang swung her sword once more the moment she regained her footing.
Chang Ping watched her actions with calmness.
[My theory was right, the more serious I become, the stronger she gets. She's already capable of controlling her lineage and the abyss' influence now. It's like she is trying to match me. No, she's not even trying, she's just being elevated. I reached Ancestral Realm and she suddenly grows faster and stronger despite not even breaking through the god realm. I use a stronger and more refined version of the Blood Seeking Sword and she uses the resentment of the Abyss to close the gap. That means, overpowering her is impossible. So, I'll try another approach. Something you would not be able to match without years of effort—]
Chang Ping moved a step closer to Qinyang stopping the full motion.
"AH!"
Qinyang jumped backwards to try and run away but Chang Ping did not allow her. Grabbing her by the wrist holding the sword, Chang Ping disarmed her.
"My sword!"
Cried Qinyang but that was the last of her concerns because on her stomach rested a fist.
"Crimson Fist Arts—"
So she allowed her sword to return to the blood lake and Chang Ping clenched her fists.
"Fist Arts? Since when did Father know that?" Qinyang was quick to notice the change in the "Revenant's" movement.
As the Sword God, Chang Ping was the foremost master of the sword beating even the previous man who held the title, Xiao Jian Fa after the war of the Dragon's Ridge. She was only next to Wang Ling but he was a freak whose only choice to become stronger in a world that was sealed by the Ruler of Chaos, the creator of worlds, was through the mastery of the sword. Wang Ling spent more than 70,000 years refining one set of techniques, longer than anyone in the Universe even before his second death.
Wang Ling, however, also learned many things outside of the sword and Chang Ping was no different.
" —Gushing Blood.."
BAM!
"URGH!" Qinyang vomited black blood as she was blown away, [What… was that? Her movement's all different. No, this is good I can regain mys—AH!"
She screamed as her body was forcefully pulled back by the blood chains.
When she realized what was going on, there was already a fist waiting for her.
"You're not getting away."
BAM!
One blow to the face and then what followed was a rush that generated strong winds that uprooted what trees that remained around them.
"Crimson Fist Arts — Blood Rush." Chang Ping no longer hesitated. She rushed to Qinyang with all that she had. Not even letting her breath for a second.
Qinyang tried to retaliate but every single time, she was foiled.
"You're a few thousand years old. But, you're not even decades old in terms of fighting experience. To me, you're just an infant." Chang Ping had cleared her mind.
Chang Ping continued attacking without changing her strength. Every single time Qinyang would recover she would change the course of the fight by interfering.
Spikes on the foot, chains being pulled, her eyes being blinded by the blood, it was a true overwhelming show of technique.
They traveled kilometers as they fought. Leaving carnage behind. The true Revenants were destroyed and the Abyssal Demons were rarely seen.
Even still, Qinyang would not just stay down and soon, Chang Ping realized that what she was doing would not last long.
Not just because Qinyang was somehow slowly managing to react even if only a little but because she was feeling that the blood she was given by Wang Ling was thinning out faster.
[The more power I use the faster it drains. My qi is not unlimited either.] Chang Ping's blood pool was also starting to thin out with her qi.
She could try to once again overwhelm Qinyang with one powerful blow. But with how fast she's managing to adapt that could only lead to a more powerful Qinyang.
In the end, she was beginning to lose her focus and Qinyang was beginning to dodge one or two strikes. Her blood was beginning to thin out and that was when it happened.
HONG!
The entire Abyss was suddenly illuminated by a pillar of white light. It was as beautiful as it was glorious and seeing this one thought appeared in Chang Ping's mind, [Master!]
Chang Ping smiled, "That's it!"
So with an end in sight, she stopped rationing her strength and grabbed Qinyang's face to bring her to the ones that could potentially stop her eternal rampage not knowing fate was beginning to converge.
