Celestial Overlord: The path of conquest

"Young lady, I am unable capture the enemy. He has escaped", Chen Hai Tao from Hongyun pavilion reported. He was the old expert who was always hidden by the side of Yan Mei to protect her. He was fighting the strongest cultivator from the enemy side.

"I have guessed as much. They have a plan to fall back in case anything goes wrong", Yan Mei nodded her head.

"Fortunately, we have this young man with us. With his assistance, we are able to save many valuable lives", Chen Hai Tao looked towards Xie Long. Even though he was fighting in the distance, he had kept an eye on the battlefield.

"Little brother, mere words can't express my gratitude. Follow us to the Clear wind city. We can discuss about how I should repay you on our way", Yan Mei spoke to Xie Long after bowing slightly towards him. Her voice was amiable and gentle which gave Xie Long a good impression.

"Alright", Xie Long nodded his head. Yan Mei invited him to sit inside the carriage. Xie Long saw Li Ting waving at him and a smile appeared on his face.

"Senior brother Long", Li Ting called out with an excited expression when Xie Long came towards the carriage alongwith Yan Mei.

"Fortunately I can be of some help in the battle. Otherwise, I wouldn't have any face left to see you", Xie Long smiled towards Li Ting. Li Ting's cheeks reddened slightly after hearing Xie Long's words.

Yan Mei dragged Li Ting into the carriage and Xie Long followed along. The carriage was large enough to fit in six person. Xie Long, Yan Mei and Li Ting sat comfortably as they looked towards eachother.

"Little brother, let me introduce myself properly. I am Yan Mei. My father is the pavilion master of Hongyun pavilion in Clear wind city", Yan Mei introduced herself.

"I am Xie Long. My background is not worth mentioning. I only have enemies to kill, not any allies whom I can trust", Xie Long spoke.

"Senior brother, you can come with us to Hongyun pavilion. I can ask grandpa to put you in a suitable position", Li Ting chirped from the side. She had a hopeful expression on her face as she looked towards Xie Long.

"Little Ting, I don't know whether my presence will bring disaster to your Hongyun pavilion. I will leave once I have some useful information", Xie Long spoke. In his life, he had seen many gazes of disdain and scorn but not many gazes were as sincere as Li Ting's. Her newly blossomed orchid like beauty, her sincere personality, every single thing about her tugged at his heartstrings. 'This is not the time for this. I can look for her once I meet mother', he thought to himself.

"Little brother, Hongyun pavilion is not as weak as you think. If you can trust me, I can prove that Hongyun pavilion will be a safe haven for you", Yan Mei spoke.

"Elder sister Mei, can I call you like this?", Xie Long asked. He had a very favourable impression of Yan Mei. After feeling her goodwill towards him, he decided to shade any kind of formalities with her.

"Of course you can. I will be happy to get such a talented young man as my little brother", Yan Mei spoke with a smile on her face. Her smile was very beautiful. It was as if the interior of the carriage got brighter for a moment.

"Elder sister, have you heard about Oak valley town?", Xie Long asked.

"Oak valley town?", Yan Mei furrowed her brows. She thought for a while but couldn't recall such a name in her memory.

"Little brother, I think I have never heard about such a name. Can you tell me any nearby city around it", Yan Mei asked.

"I think Silver Lake City is around it. Although Oak valley town is still some distance away, many merchant groups travel through it to reach the Silver Lake City", Xie Long spoke.

"Silver Lake City! It is in the Yinque perfecture. Since it is a neighbouring perfecture, it will not be hard to find news about Oak valley town", Yan Mei spoke.

'Another perfecture? Have I come to the Taihua perfecture? But there is Wailing wind forest range in between Yinque perfecture and Taihua perfecture!', Xie Long mused to himself with astonishment inside his mind.

Both Yinque perfecture and Taihua perfecture were inside the vast Cangyun empire. In Cangyun empire, a single perfecture contained tens of cities and thousands of small and big towns. As for villages and wild settlements, there numbers were like grains of sands.

With such vastness of a perfecture, an ordinary cultivator couldn't travel an entire perfecture by his own. As per travelling to a nearby perfecture, it was only a fool's fantasy because there were natural barriers like the Wailing wind forest range in between perfectures. So, Xie Long could only feel astonishment when he heard he was in another perfecture at this moment.

"Little brother, what are you thinking?", Yan Mei disturbed Xie Long's train of thoughts.

"Nothing. It will be best if you can find news regarding Oak valley town as soon as possible", Xie Long replied.

"I will try my best. Untill then, you can walk around the Clear wind city", Yan Mei spoke. The Hongyun pavilion's entourage didn't face any more difficulties as they travelled across a barren plain. After travelling for another day and night, they reached a small town.

"We can wait here. I have already sent message for reinforcement. As long as our experts arrive, we will leave for the Clear wind city", Yan Mei spoke.

Their wait didn't last longer as after an hour flapping sounds came from the distant sky. An enormous eagle revealed itself and hoverered above the Hongyun family members.

"Little girl, I have heard that you got bullied", a middle aged man jumped down from the eagle's back. He was high above in the sky but strangely his voice was clearly heard by everyone.

"Oh! How rare! Such a pure bloodline in a backwater land!", the middle aged man spoke as he landed infront of Yan Mei and Xie Long. A surprised expression appeared on his face as he looked towards Xie Long.

"Uncle Mo, I have taken him as my little brother. His name is Xie Long. It is only thanks to him that little Ting is safe at this moment", Yan Mei spoke.

"Little Ting?", the middle aged man frowned for a moment. He looked around and found Li Ting standing behind Yan Mei.

"What? Why is she here?", the middle aged man stuttered for a moment. A look of disbelief appeared on his face as he looked towards Li Ting.

"Who dare touch her? Do they have a death wish? Ignore her Li clan, if someone informs her mother....", the middle aged man spoke with a frightened expression on his face.

"Senior sister, please make sure that no one knows about today's incident. If my parents learn about it, they will take me away", Li Ting held the clothes of Yan Mei with a pleading expression on her face.
