Chapter 42: Training
The next morning, Kyle woke up early and went to class with Nine. After a few hours of regular lectures, he returned to the dorm for a bath before heading straight to the training ground.
His current schedule was insane because now, besides training and attending lectures, he didn't have time for anything else. Professor Liam, the training instructor for first-year students, was also impressed by Kyle's hard work and incredible improvements.
Even though Kyle rarely asked, Liam would give him pointers here and there about the mistakes he was making. The more Liam observed him, the more he felt that it was a pity that his talent was only (B)-Rank.
As the competition drew near, all the first-year students, including Alec and his team, were putting in extra effort. But Kyle would consistently practice late into the night.
The entire training ground would be empty, and only when he was exhausted and had no strength left in his body would he stagger back to his dorm.
Due to Kyle's influence, Nine also started training like crazy. However, no matter how much he tried, he would still leave the training ground earlier than Kyle.
At first, Nine and the others would wait for Kyle to finish, but the next day, Kyle told them to stop waiting because he didn't want to waste their rest time.
Also, after talking with Bia, Kyle found out that he could actually communicate with her through telepathy because they were connected. At first, using telepathy with Bia was a little hard, but after a few tries, he got the hang of it. During this time, because of Bia, Lara started talking to Kyle normally. She still ignored him sometimes, but it was much better than before. Thе gеnuinе аrtiсlе rеsidеs оn М|V|L&ЕМРYR.
In the meantime, Professor Aliza kept an eye on Kyle. She couldn't help him directly, but she secretly asked Vice Principal George to search for the elixir of life.
A week went by like this, and Kyle made great progress in his training. His stats improved a lot compared to before.

Kyle's agility stat increased by one sub-rank, and his strength stat increased by two sub-ranks. Who would believe that just a little over a month ago, both of these stats were at (G)-Rank?
It's all thanks to his packed schedule for the past week - attending classes, training, eating, and then training again.
Kyle only had 1-2 hours of rest each day. But what surprised him was that his body was able to handle such intense training. Now, he's on the verge of a breakthrough, and he thinks he'll reach (E-)-Rank in about two weeks.
.....
As everyone was training and working hard, the day of the competition finally arrived. The competition for the first-year students took place inside the Academy hall. So early in the morning, all of the first-year students were heading towards the hall.
Kyle and Nine were walking behind some of the other first-year students when they heard someone calling their names from behind. It was Alec, walking with Carcel, Lara, and Mia as usual. As soon as they appeared, all eyes were on them because they looked stunning.
At first, Kyle felt a bit uncomfortable with all the attention he was getting from interacting with Alec and the others, but after a while, he started ignoring the few people who would stare at him. After greeting each other, they started chatting and walking together.
Bia, who was sitting on top of Kyle's head, started flying around when she saw Mia and Lara, and then she settled on Mia's shoulder.
Kyle looked at Bia with narrowed eyes. It seemed like Bia had developed a liking for Mia for some reason.
'Did you just betray the person who lovingly fed you this morning just to get some attention from a beauty?'
Bia snickered in response, hearing his complaint-filled voice in her head, and turned her big blue eyes towards Mia, completely ignoring Kyle.
Soon, the group arrived at the hall. There were twenty different small stages set up in the middle of the hall, surrounded by hundreds of audience seats.
However, only a few audience seats were occupied by first and some third-year students because the second-year students were busy with their own competition, and 80% of the third-year students were out doing missions.
Slowly but surely, all the first-year students appeared inside the hall, settling down on the empty audience seats. The person in charge of overseeing the competition was Elder Lu, with Professor Liam and two other professors acting as referees.
Liam walked and stood in the middle of the hall, making all the students cease their conversations.
"Hello, everyone. I hope you all have been working hard for the competition because the results will decide who will occupy the seven available spots of the Tower of Opportunity from the first-year students."
Liam's clear and loud voice resounded inside the hall.
"This competition will last for five days, and because of that, no class or training will be held in the next five days. All the rounds of the competition will be one-on-one battles. There are a total of 201 students participating, so we'll try to conclude the first round today."
Afterward, he told everyone that 20 battles would be held at a time because there were 20 stages present inside the hall and called 40 different students on the stage. The called students got up from their seats and walked toward the stages, awaiting Professor Liam's instructions.
"This is not a life or death battle, so remember to give up if you can't handle your opponent's attack."
"If your opponent can't fight back, you can't keep attacking. Once one participant admits defeat, the other can't attack."
After shouting out the rules, Liam gave the signal to start the fight, and the first round of the competition officially began.
Alec, Lara, and Nine were also in the first batch of students fighting on the stage. But Alec's fight only lasted a few seconds before he won and returned to his seat. Nine and Lara also easily won their battles before returning to their seats.
After the first batch, two more batches of students were called on the stage. In the fourth batch, Carcel and Mia's names were called. Both of them also easily defeated their opponents.
Kyle's name was called with the last batch of students. After entering the academy, he hadn't fought with anyone else except Alec, Nine, and Carcel.
That's why he was looking forward to the upcoming fight. But contrary to his expectations, his opponent was someone very weak, and he defeated him very easily, just in half a minute.
Also, it seemed that the Professors made sure not to match the top ten students against each other because Kyle, Nine, and the others were not called out against each other.
After the first round, hundred students made it to the second round. Out of the 201 students, one of the weakest actually forfeited before even being called on stage.
At the end of the first round, Liam told everyone to rest for the day and be ready for the second round, which will be held tomorrow morning.
