Chapter 7: Collaboration And The Beginning Of A Big Plan
While riding the elevator, Aunt Elish engaged in light conversation with Tom. Knowing that Tom had been left by both of his parents, she avoided bringing up the past, which might make him sad.
However, Aunt Elish was unaware of how difficult Tom's life was now, as she was also busy with her own world.
As they stood and chatted in the elevator, they finally arrived at the top floor, the 12th floor.
When the elevator doors opened, there were five large-bodied guards, clearly hiding pistols in their pants.
The guards, seeing the young wife of Mr. Handoko arriving with a young man, remained calm and saluted.
As if unaware of the situation, Aunt Elish, upon arriving, immediately barged through the door and interrupted Mr. Handoko, who was in the middle of a small meeting with some of his subordinates.
Mr. Handoko, seeing his young wife arrive and casually disrupt the meeting, promptly ended the meeting.
"Alright, let's end the meeting here. Maintain the market price because our company is going through a tough time," said Mr. Handoko in front of all his subordinates, and they dispersed.
Aunt Elish, who had just arrived, immediately approached her husband. After a hug and a sweet kiss, she began to make her request, which was the reason she had come.
"Darling... my monthly allowance is already gone... please send me more, okay?" said Aunt Elish while cuddling sweetly with Mr. Handoko.
Mr. Handoko, whose company was in crisis, could only sigh.
"Huh... your monthly allowance of 10 billion is already spent before it's due. What did you even buy, Elish?"
Aunt Elish, when asked, didn't answer. She was extravagant and loved to splurge without much thought.
But because Mr. Handoko loved his young wife dearly, he granted her wish.
"Alright, I'll have my secretary send you an additional allowance."
"Hehehe, thank you, darling..."
After a sweet hug, Tom, who had initially been standing at the door, finally started to approach.
When Mr. Handoko saw Tom's face, he remembered the face of his former business partner's son and smiled, welcoming him.
"Tom... is that you, kid?"
"Good afternoon, Mr. Handoko. Yes, it's me, Tom Brady, son of Mr. Thomas."
"My goodness... it's been so long since we last met. What brings you here?"
"Sir... I want to discuss a big business opportunity with you."
Mr. Handoko, who knew Tom had been abandoned by his stepmother, didn't immediately believe him.
Living in a world where money was everything, he knew full well that many people out there would be willing to bow at his feet just to borrow money.
But because Tom's father was a trusted friend and former business partner, he held high hopes for what his son had to say about business.
If it weren't for Tom's family background, he would have been kicked out even before he had a chance to speak.
"Business, huh... I hope you're like your father and not just all talk."
Tom, hearing Mr. Handoko's words, wasn't offended. Having once been the son of a conglomerate, he knew that in this world, connections were just as important as money.
He, who currently needed connections and protection to advance his business, would first establish a partnership.
Tom, who had often accompanied his father since he was young, knew full well that in this world, good positions and connections would smooth everything.
He, who wanted to start a big business, would immediately be targeted by competitors in Nightfall City if he recklessly sold his gold and gems like a nouveau riche.
Without a strong foundation, one should not dare to start a business in Nightfall City, which was a central city in Indonesia due to its proximity to Singapore and China.
In his hometown, even in the world, power was still the pinnacle of everything.
That's why, for now, he would fatten up Mr. Handoko until he had his own strength and could stand on his own two feet later.
Tom, hearing Mr. Handoko's words, smiled and immediately responded.
"Of course, sir... I, Tom Brady, wouldn't dare to come to you if it were just empty talk," Tom answered casually and confidently.
Mr. Handoko, seeing Tom's confidence, chuckled slightly. It reminded him of Tom's father, who was also firm and serious when discussing business.
"Alright, Tom, since it's lunchtime... let's have lunch together first."
Tom, who was invited to lunch, gladly accepted Mr. Handoko's invitation.
That afternoon, Tom, Mr. Handoko, and his wife had lunch together. While eating, they occasionally chatted about the past.
The middle-aged man named Handoko Kusumo, who had a sturdy build, seemed a bit intimidating to Tom. But on the other hand, he was also very friendly towards him.
Aunt Elish also started asking Tom many questions. She also asked about Tom's younger brother, Johan, and really wanted to meet him.
"Hahahah... so nostalgic... Johan must be a handsome man like his older brother now, right?"
"That's right, Aunt... he's even surpassed me, hahaha."
After lunch, Aunt Elish, who was tired, immediately returned to the hotel to rest.
Tom, who was now on the top floor, right above the skyscraper, began to discuss the matter that had made him dare to set foot in the headquarters of the Handoko Group.
"Alright, Tom... so what's the business you want to discuss with me?"
Tom, sitting with Mr. Handoko in a cool place accompanied by the blue sky and beautiful white clouds, also looked very confident.
Around him, several of Mr. Handoko's henchmen stood, fully armed.
But because Tom knew the man in front of him could be trusted, he began to launch his plan.
Quickly, Tom took out several gems he had taken from his inventory. Ten beautiful gems of different colors were immediately placed on the table.
"Look at this, sir... these are my father's heirlooms that I managed to find."
Mr. Handoko, an expert in gemstones, immediately took and examined the golf ball-sized gem that Tom casually threw on the table.
Having been in the gemstone business for years, Mr. Handoko was immediately captivated by the beauty and elegant design of the gems Tom showed.
"Amazing... these gems are shaped so elegantly and feel so smooth."
"Of course, sir, and I still have many gems like these," Tom continued casually.
"Is that so... but I'm not a god, so let's check their authenticity first."
Under Mr. Handoko's direction, a sophisticated gemstone purity detector was quickly brought by his men.
After checking, everyone was utterly shocked. The ten gems Tom brought were genuine, with a purity of 100%.
"Amazing... this is truly extraordinary, Tom."
Tom, seeing Mr. Handoko very interested in his gems, casually sat back and lit a cigarette.
But deep down, he was really scared.
Even though he knew well from his father that Mr. Handoko was a cruel but trustworthy man, Tom was still afraid and nervous.
He could have been killed or tortured right there and forced to reveal the rest of his gems.
But Tom, knowing Mr. Handoko could be trusted from his father's words when he was still a child, bet on his father's judgment.
He also knew that when talking to a business opponent, one must remain calm and not show any fear, so he began to calm himself.
"Come on, Tom Brady, you can do it..." Tom said to himself.
After a while, Mr. Handoko, who had spoken with some of his subordinates, smiled brightly at Tom.
He even happily poured a glass of wine for Tom and proposed a toast.
"Tom Brady... I accept this great partnership between us."
Tom, seeing Mr. Handoko raising his glass of wine towards him, began to feel relieved.
It turned out the man was indeed trustworthy, just as his father had said.
"Alright, sir... from now on, let's work together."
That afternoon, Tom immediately received a large payment from his initial partnership with Mr. Handoko.
He also mentioned his intention to take back the Brady Group, which was currently controlled by his stepmother.
