Chapter 212 - Words of Bystanders.
“This was found by one of my brother’s men at the junction of the outer and inner areas of the Barren Forest,” Hebrew Adam said, holding a ring in his palm.
Ruo Manni was very familiar with the silver ring; she had seen the design for over ten years, as it was the spatial ring that Teresa Du always wore.
Ruo Manni looked at Hebrew Adam but was reluctant to reach out to take it.
She didn’t want this outcome. If a person was merely missing, there was still a chance of bringing them back, a possibility that they were alive somewhere else.
But confirming death meant all hope was lost.
No matter what she felt inside, Ruo Manni still hoped Teresa Du could be alive and live well. She was a truly kind woman who didn’t deserve such a fate.
“They discovered quite a few corpses in the forest. The corpse with this spatial ring matched Teresa Du’s DNA. My brother’s men have collected her remains, and he wants to ask what you would like to do,” Hebrew Adam continued.
What to do? Ruo Manni didn’t know either. She was still in a “fake death” state and couldn’t directly communicate with the outside world.
After thinking for a moment, Ruo Manni said to Hebrew Adam, “Please tell the Crown Prince to leave this matter for my mother to decide.”
In the incident where Ruo Manni was taken away, the one who suffered the most was Lixi Amber. Teresa Du, who was ordered to take Ruo Manni away but did her best to raise her, was no longer there, and Ruo Manni herself didn’t know what to do. So, she decided to leave the decision to Lixi Amber.
“Do you have any resentment?” Hebrew Adam suddenly asked.
Ruo Manni looked up at him, confused.
“Do you resent the person who planned this whole thing back then?” Hebrew Adam asked again.
This was a very profound question, one that even the original person could not have answered.
But why was Hebrew Adam asking this, and why did he seem to care so much about her response? Could it be that he knew about what his mother had done?
“I’m not sure,” Ruo Manni said. “After all, I knew nothing about this before. Teresa Du treated me very well and ultimately gave her life for me, so I could never hate her. But my mother has suffered sadness and pain for more than ten years because of this, and that is something I do resent.”
She couldn’t guarantee much, but she was sure the original person would have felt the same way about these two points.
Seeing her say this, Hebrew Adam’s eyes became melancholic, making Ruo Manni realize that he truly knew about his mother’s “great masterpiece.”
However, this wasn’t really Hebrew Adam’s fault. She had already received a large compensation from King Adam, and Lixi Amber had also agreed to let the matter rest and not bring it up again. Ruo Manni didn’t want to discuss this issue with Hebrew Adam any further.
“If it were just the two of us in that assassination attempt, we probably would’ve died even faster.”
“That’s why, once we arrive at Thaizhu Star, you’ll see that Instructor Dudley’s ‘devil training’ is nothing,” Hebrew Adam replied.
…
On this day, the security at the Imperial Capital Star’s space station was suddenly tightened, especially in the eastern space corridor, where it was heavily guarded, and no unauthorized personnel were allowed in.
The travelers waiting in the space station curiously observed the soldiers, who stood tall and upright but whose eyes were as sharp as knives.
“What’s going on here? It feels unusual,” a curious and inexperienced bystander said.
“Probably some important figure is arriving,” another bystander calmly remarked.
In the Imperial Capital Star, if anything is abundant, it’s important figures. This kind of setup is already commonplace, so this young person is just easily surprised.
“The competition team from the Vera Federation has likely arrived,” one bystander remarked. “Didn’t the news say that the opening ceremony of the Youth Elite Tournament is the day after tomorrow? Those teams should be arriving around now; otherwise, they wouldn’t make it in time for the ceremony.”
“Why are they treating the Vera Federation people with such respect? They’re so arrogant, thinking that just because they have a genius psychic, they can humiliate us. Fortunately, we have Olli from the Xuan Gu First Military Academy to put them in their place; otherwise, I’d be furious,” the first young bystander, who had little experience but was well-informed about the latest gossip online, said angrily.
“Exactly! An 18-year-old early-stage Level 6 psychic facing off against a 20-year-old early-stage Level 6 psychic, Mina-Olli’s strength was clearly superior. She’s truly the pride of our Gus Empire—so beautiful and so strong. With her on the team, our Gus Empire is sure to win the championship,” another bystander eagerly joined the conversation.
“Mina-Olli became an early-stage Level 6 psychic at 18, making her one of the top talents in our Gus Empire. Not just in the Empire, but across the entire Gumera Star Region, no one in her age group is more exceptional.”
“That’s not possible! Xuan Gu First Military Academy has a genius girl even more outstanding than Mina-Olli. The Second Prince is fine, so I don’t believe anything happened to her either. Her cultivation must be higher than Mina-Olli’s,” an older bystander chimed in with a sigh.
“That’s hard to say. Miss Mina-Olli comes from a prestigious family, while that genius girl is a commoner. The difference in their cultivation resources is huge, which greatly affects their progress.”
“There’s been a lot of talk online that the genius girl and the Second Prince didn’t actually die. I also think it’s true because every time the royal spokesperson says it’s a national secret and they can’t disclose anything. Honestly, if something had really happened, wouldn’t there at least be a funeral? The royal family didn’t hold a funeral that year.”
“You never know. If nothing happened, why haven’t the two of them appeared at Xuan Gu First Military Academy for over two years? And they’re not participating in this year’s Gumera Star Region Youth Elite Selection either.”
“Do you know how many people the National Security Bureau arrested after that assassination attempt? Even several top military officials were taken in and never came out. If nothing had happened, would it have caused such a big stir?”
“The two people in the video were definitely dead, but whether it was really the Second Prince and that genius girl is still uncertain.”
“They’re definitely not dead. If they were, the attitude wouldn’t be like this. They probably used that event as an opportunity to hide and lay low for a while.”
“But honestly, the fourth-year elite class at Xuan Gu First Military Academy is the most outstanding class Gus Empire has had in a hundred years.”
“A Level 6 early-stage psychic, a Level 5 mid-stage warrior, a Level 5 early-stage warrior, and the others are all late-stage Level 4 warriors. Their cultivation levels are terrifyingly high. Who knows how far they’ll go in the future.”
“It’s said that the Second Prince was already a mid-stage Level 5 warrior two years ago. If he’s still alive, who knows how high his cultivation is now,” everyone spoke with admiration on their faces.
“The First Prince became the youngest Level 8 warrior this year, and the Second Prince’s cultivation potential is said to be even better than the First Prince’s.”
“Though our Gus Empire doesn’t have many Level 8 warriors, we do have a few. But it’s been over 500 years since we’ve had a Level 9 warrior.”
“It’s said that a Level 9 warrior can tear apart a medium-sized warship with their bare hands.”
Everyone gasped. A medium-sized warship can carry 5,000 people, and to tear it apart bare-handed—how terrifying…
