Chapter 162 - The Tainted Courtesy Name
Ruo Manni led everyone to suspect that Mina-Olli’s cousin might have been controlled by someone to attack Mina-Olli.
Mina-Olli immediately thought it was impossible because, to her knowledge, there were no telepaths above level eight in the entire Gumera Star Region, and only a level eight or higher telepath could achieve such control.
“This is uncertain. While there might not be any openly, it’s hard to say what’s happening in the shadows,” Hebrew Adam said, clearly having realized something, his face darkening.
Mina-Olli also began to understand and looked at Ruo Manni with suspicion, wondering if she had any insider information.
As people with inside knowledge, the other friends who were aware of the Yunkai situation started to get a clearer picture. They exchanged serious, worried looks.
Each of them had high intelligence, and once they considered this possibility, they realized their troubles were likely much greater than they had thought.
“There was a traitor in my prince’s guard who fired at me when I wasn’t paying attention, but I managed to dodge. At the time, I didn’t sense any killing intent, and the traitor committed suicide afterward, so we couldn’t find any clues,” Hebrew Adam said coldly.
“I also encountered a stalker on my way home,” Dean Atchison said. “The guards sent to pick me up were very alert and quickly shook off the stalker. Later, we discovered that someone in my family had betrayed my information.”
“The day before yesterday morning, the school guards caught an assassin trying to infiltrate the school. She was disguised as a youth coach at the swimming pool,” Hebrew Adam glanced at Ruo Manni.
During the holidays, Ruo Manni had a routine of swimming at the training pool in the mornings. It was clear that these assassins knew her habits and were aware that she was under the responsibility of a youth coach at the swimming pool.
Ruo Manni had certainly thought of these things, and she was trembling with fear. Oh God, she had a good relationship with the youth coach at the swimming pool. If the school guards hadn’t caught the assassin, who knows if the coach would have received a message and rushed to her death.
The world was truly terrifying. She wanted to return to Earth, to that peaceful country with very few dark sides.
“What about the real youth coach?” Ruo Manni asked worriedly. After all, the coach had been targeted because of her.
“She’s missing. The Security Bureau hasn’t been able to find her, but the clues suggest she was captured by those people. The Security Bureau is following the leads,” Hebrew Adam said.
In reality, the youth coach had already been killed. It was clear she had been murdered while resisting violently, and her death was suspicious. The Security Bureau was investigating.
Hua Deqi had instructed Hebrew Adam not to tell Ruo Manni that the youth coach was dead, to avoid frightening and upsetting her. Instead, he said that the coach was missing.
Hearing that the coach was missing rather than dead, Ruo Manni’s emotions stabilized somewhat, but her concern and sadness remained evident in her eyes.
“Why the sudden effort to assassinate us?” Sheila also found it frightening.
She didn’t consider herself a remarkable genius. She was always among the lowest ranks in assessments. Didn’t they think it was a waste of effort to target her?
“It’s not just you encountering these issues; this is not an isolated incident. Several similar cases have occurred, and it’s not limited to the Imperial Capital Star. It’s likely targeting outstanding citizens of our Gus Empire. You don’t need to worry too much. My father has already ordered the Security Bureau to investigate with full force. Given the capabilities of the national security agency, they should resolve it soon,” Hebrew Adam said.
Seeing the frightened expressions on their faces, Hebrew Adam added, “But until this organization is completely eradicated, you all need to be cautious. It’s best to stay on campus as much as possible. My elder brother sent people the day before yesterday to upgrade the school’s defenses to the highest level. The security level at the school is now at its maximum.”
Hearing this, the first-year elite class members felt somewhat relieved. If the school wasn’t even safe, they wouldn’t be able to find peace here.
Hebrew Adam’s information was naturally the most accurate and reliable. Hearing that the Gus King and the Crown Prince had already intervened, the group felt reassured.
Aside from Ruo Manni, who didn’t know much about the royal family, the others had full confidence in the Gus King and the Crown Prince. Especially with both of them taking the matter seriously, they believed that the mysterious assassination organization would soon be dealt with, and their threat would be removed.
Having said what needed to be said, it was time for class to begin. As everyone was preparing to return to their seats, their mentor, Mr. Li, entered the room with a familiar military academy student following behind him.
“Hello everyone! Please give me your guidance from now on,” the student said as he walked in, greeting them confidently. He then took a seat in the empty spot at the very back, as directed by Mr. Li.
The elite class members, who had been daydreaming, suddenly noticed an extra seat in their classroom and turned to their mentor with questioning expressions.
“Asimu has performed exceptionally well since the start of the school year, especially excelling during the drills. The school has decided to make an exception and transfer him to the elite class to join Hua’s team, which happens to be short one member.”
Understanding the situation, the original elite class members immediately applauded enthusiastically to welcome him.
If it were anyone else joining the class, they would likely be resistant. However, with Asimu, it was different.
Asimu was infamous among the new students for his bad luck. During the assessment competition, he had consistently ranked within the top ten. However, he was unlucky enough to encounter a dark horse in the rankings, which dropped him to eleventh place.
It wasn’t until this training session that Hebrew Adam himself revealed that this dark horse who had beaten Asimu was Hebrew Adam. In the Xuan Gu Military Academy, not even fourth-year students could match Hebrew Adam’s skill, so the reputation of Asimu as an “unlucky guy” was not unfounded.
Nevertheless, because of this, everyone acknowledged that Asimu was a person of real ability. Now that he had used his skills to be transferred to the elite class, the original elite class members naturally had no objections.
Especially the members of Hua’s team, who were extremely welcoming. Their team had been short one member for a while. Over the past month, they had struggled to find a suitable member from the first-year Mech Manufacturing department and had been quite frustrated.
While missing a member during this training session wasn’t too problematic, it would be a significant disadvantage in future competitions if they continued to be short one team member.
Asimu’s combat abilities were evidently on par with Su Forty-Three’s. With him on the team, Hua Deli’s team’s overall strength would increase significantly, reducing Adam’s team’s advantage.
“Welcome, welcome! You truly belong in the elite class. After roaming around, you’re back where you should be,” Su Forty-Three said excitedly, patting Asimu’s shoulder. The way he spoke made it seem like they were old friends.
“Did you two know each other before?” Sheila, ever the best spokesperson, asked on behalf of everyone.
Asimu, who had shown exceptional strength and had a robust appearance during the training, actually blushed and smiled awkwardly as he touched his nose and said, “He’s my cousin.”
Ruo Manni’s face remained expressionless. Not another cousin. This courtesy name is truly poisonous; with twelve people in the class, it seems everyone is a cousin or relative of some sort.
