Cannon fodder in the Interstellar

Chapter 157 - Aunt Lixi

Cultivation is of utmost importance. Since her teacher had instructed her to break through to the next level, Ruo Manni listened carefully to the precautions and then entered Li Qixing’s meditation room for seclusion.

In any world, those with firm willpower are the most likely to succeed, and Ruo Manni was no exception. Within eight hours of entering the meditation room, she smoothly achieved her advancement without any issues.

Seeing his young disciple emerge from the meditation room having successfully leveled up, Li Qixing felt once again that he had gained a treasure.

She’s only fifteen, and she’s already a mid-Level 5 psychic master. At fifteen, his own cultivation was only at mid-Level 4.

“Ruo Manni, after cultivating all night, you must be very hungry. Go wash up quickly; your teacher’s wife has prepared a lot of delicious food for you,” Mrs. Li said with excitement and affection.

After discovering the ulterior motives behind her husband taking on this young disciple, Mrs. Li had a serious conversation with him last night. She finally understood the foolish behavior of the cousin and, besides feeling more affectionate towards the girl, she grew even fonder of her. Thankfully, the girl was talented on her own; otherwise, her life could have been ruined.

Although Mrs. Li had no talent for cultivation herself, she understood well, thanks to her husband and her family’s upbringing, that it was a stroke of luck for her husband to have taken on this closed-door disciple. Her husband had inadvertently gained a great opportunity.

After Ruo Manni’s advancement, she was quite hungry. Although she had consumed a bottle of nutritional supplements before leaving the meditation room, the extensive consumption during the breakthrough left her feeling that her stomach was still empty and in need of solid food.

Hearing that Mrs. Li had prepared a grand meal for her, Ruo Manni immediately thought of the delicious food she had the day before and obediently went to shower before getting ready for the feast.

Each time she advanced, her body would expel some impurities, and she would have a rather unpleasant odor. It was necessary to thoroughly clean up.

After finishing her shower and changing into her casual clothes, Ruo Manni walked out, ready for the grand meal, and noticed an unfamiliar woman in the living room besides Mr. and Mrs. Li.

The woman appeared to be just over thirty years old. Although she was a late-Level 4 martial artist, her impeccably neat military uniform and commanding presence indicated that she was no ordinary officer.

As Ruo Manni approached, she keenly noticed that the woman’s shoulder insignia matched that of Lieutenant Akar Kessel’s.

This woman was actually a captain.

Ruo Manni was somewhat surprised. Being a captain indicated that the woman had a high overall combat capability. Given that her martial arts level was relatively low, Ruo Manni guessed that she was most likely a psychic master. Since Ruo Manni couldn’t discern her cultivation level, it was probable that her psychic mastery was at least Level 6.

“Ruo Manni, this is Aunt Lixi, whom I mentioned to you,” Li Qixing said.

Aunt Lixi had an extremely cool and aloof demeanor, but her black hair, black eyes, and delicate features gave Manni an inexplicable sense of fondness. Ruo Manni smiled sweetly and greeted her, “Hello, Aunt Lixi.”

Although Lixi Amber has seen her countless times on video, and in person, Lixi felt she had to muster all her strength to maintain her composure. She was slightly slow in responding but managed a faint smile, using all her effort to speak gently, “Hello.”

Although Aunt Lixi appeared somewhat indifferent, when Ruo Manni’s gaze met hers, she sensed a fleeting glimpse of suppressed pain in Lixi’s eyes, though it quickly vanished and was replaced by her usual coolness.

Ruo Manni began to doubt whether she had misinterpreted the look. It was their first meeting, so it seemed unlikely that Aunt Lixi would have such emotions toward her.

When Ruo Manni looked again, she noticed a touch of affection in Aunt Lixi’s cool gaze. Although Ruo Manni thought it seemed a bit sudden for Aunt Lixi to show such affection after just a minute of meeting, Mrs. Li had also only met Ruo Manni the day before and had shown similar warmth in her eyes.

Mrs. Li, sensing Ruo Manni’s surprise, smiled and explained that Aunt Lixi had only one son and had always longed for a daughter.

Perhaps Aunt Lixi and Mrs. Li had projected some of their desire for a daughter onto Ruo Manni. Ruo Manni considered this a reasonable explanation.

After all, as Li Qixing’s closed-door disciple, Ruo Manni was almost as important to him as his own children, and in terms of guardianship, she held an equal status.

It was quite normal for Mrs. Li to extend her affection to Ruo Manni. Although Li Qixing and Aunt Lixi were cousins, their relationship was almost like that of siblings, so it made sense that their affection would be similarly extended.

Although Li Qixing is Ruo Manni’s teacher, he is also a military commander and is busy during the day, only able to return at night. Mrs. Li, despite being a military spouse, actually manages many businesses and spends most of her daytime dealing with them online.

Thus, the guest, Ruo Manni, and Aunt Lixi had the most free time together over the past two days.

Aunt Lixi is a mid-level 6 psychic master with extensive combat experience as a soldier. For these two days, she practiced with Ruo Manni and helped her consolidate her cultivation level.

Additionally, Li Qixing informed Aunt Lixi about Ruo Manni’s encounter with the Level 4 psychic core mutation wood. After Aunt Lixi inquired in detail about the incident, she carefully analyzed and explained to Ruo Manni the mistakes she and her companions made during the situation.

Ruo Manni felt as if she had opened a door to a new world. Some things truly need to be learned through direct teaching rather than just observation from the outside.

Given Ruo Manni’s limited practical knowledge, Aunt Lixi used her and Li Qixing’s authority to show Ruo Manni numerous battlefield combat videos of military psychic masters and provide detailed analysis alongside them.

Even though these were just videos, the intense and bloody scenes of real battles were a significant shock to Ruo Manni. With Aunt Lixi’s analysis and guidance, Ruo Manni greatly expanded her understanding and learned about various aspects of battlefield knowledge.

Having lived a comfortable life and lacking such training, Ruo Manni needed these teachings the most. Although Instructor Dudley was her mentor, he was also a mentor to others and couldn’t focus entirely on her weaknesses or provide detailed, individualized analysis. Moreover, as a martial artist, he could guide but not fully teach the combat skills of a psychic master.

So, over these two days, Aunt Lixi’s teachings were more valuable than anything else. This knowledge couldn’t be learned from textbooks; it was born from bloody experience, something only seasoned military personnel like Aunt Lixi and Li Qixing possess.

Ruo Manni eagerly absorbed this battlefield knowledge she had never encountered before. Aunt Lixi’s two days of instruction doubled Ruo Manni’s practical combat abilities and even brought some changes to her demeanor.

In just two days, Aunt Lixi made a profound impact on Ruo Manni, becoming another mentor in her life.
