Chapter 154 - Captain Kessel
Seeing that the Adam squad was showing genuine and eager smiles upon their arrival, the Hua squad’s first reaction was to think that the Adam squad must have been poisoned or severely disturbed to act so unusually.
The Hua squad had never felt any deep camaraderie from the Adam squad, and seeing their enthusiastic welcome made the Hua squad feel uneasy. If it weren’t for the fact that Instructor Dudley was watching them, they would have gone up to ask what was going on.
However, the Hua squad didn’t wonder for long, as they soon learned the reason for the Adam squad’s odd behavior.
As the Adam squad stood properly and with their heads held high, they watched the Hua squad approach Instructor Dudley to report. The Adam squad then heard Instructor Dudley ask the Hua squad in a very gentle tone, “How do you think you did in completing your tasks?”
Dean Atchison noticed the sympathetic looks in the Adam squad’s eyes after Instructor Dudley asked his question, and he felt a chill.
As the Hua squad was being thoroughly reprimanded by Instructor Dudley, the Asimu squad also landed. However, the Asimu squad wasn’t under Instructor Dudley’s jurisdiction, so they couldn’t save the Hua squad and instead became fellow sufferers in their misfortune.
The Adam squad felt they had gained new insights. It turned out that instructors were all cut from the same cloth—when it came to reprimanding students, they were thorough and unyielding.
Once the military academy students were finally allowed to board the airship, everyone was dejected, their ears still ringing with the instructors’ stormy lectures.
However, once they were on the airship, they were freed from their troubles. Soon, the students forgot about the instructors as their comms devices reconnected to the network, and they happily started catching up on their messages and browsing.
During the return journey, everyone received the training score rankings sent by the instructors.
As expected, Hebrew Adam’s name was at the top, with a total score of 250.
Ruo Manni also placed as expected, coming in second with a score of 230.
Hua Deli was just five points behind Ruo Manni, securing third place. Dean Atchison scored 215, placing fourth. Mina-Olli was in fifth place, followed closely by Gao Haitao in sixth.
The most surprising result was that Asimu’s score from the honors class was unexpectedly high, surpassing the elite class students and placing seventh.
Su Forty-Three lagged far behind his two captains, ending up in eighth place. Tino Venamoinen was ninth, and Ninja King Ren Wuyue was tenth.
Sheila was in eleventh place, and Tamaki Kazia was twelfth. As expected, these two elite class students alternated positions, with Sheila being last previously and Tamaki Kazia taking that spot this time. No one could rival them.
The scores from the training equate to academic credits, and they received more than anticipated—230 credits in total. Ruo Manni was genuinely delighted.
“After this training, we will have over a month of training time. You should work hard to level up your battle realm to Level 10. If you don’t reach Level 10 within this month, you will fall out of the top 100 in the battle realm youth rankings,” Hebrew Adam said.
When the prince spoke, everyone in the elite class listened attentively. The cadets, who had been out of the battle realm for several days, suddenly became focused. With Hebrew Adam’s reminder, they were eager to get back into action.
Upon returning to school, Xuan Gu First Military Academy kindly granted the first-year students a three-day vacation. The new students cheered, as vacations are always the most exciting part of student life, regardless of the era.
Except for the cadets whose families are on the Imperial Capital Star, no other cadets left the school. The training facilities at the academy were even busier during these three days, as first-year students quickly used up their credits for training.
As soon as Ruo Manni returned to the school and stepped into her dormitory, she received a message from her senior, Rick Amber, summoning her to the Mecha Manufacturing Department.
“Professor knows about the danger you encountered, but he can’t come back. Since you have a three-day vacation starting tomorrow, a soldier sent by him will arrive to pick you up soon,” Rick Amber said.
“I’m fine, and I even gained some benefits from the misfortune,” Ruo Manni said, feeling uneasy. She had made a mistake, and now it was obvious to everyone, which meant she would likely get a scolding from the professor.
Rick Amber smiled at her. “You can tell him that when you see him.”
Seeing Ruo Manni’s pitiful smile, Rick Amber’s heart softened. He genuinely liked the child. Although Teresa Du didn’t know how to teach her training, she had taught her well in terms of character. This showed that Teresa Du truly cared for Ruo Manni.
“Don’t worry, the professor usually doesn’t say harsh things to us,” Rick Amber comforted her with a straight face.
While he said that the professor usually doesn’t speak harshly, when he does, it can be quite unbearable for most people. However, since his junior sister is young and cute, the professor is unlikely to be too harsh with her. So, he wasn’t really lying to her.
Rick Amber’s words did offer some comfort to Ruo Manni. Hopefully, she wouldn’t be too scared of being scolded by her mentors. He wasn’t foolish; the mentors cared for and protected her, which was why they meticulously guided her to help her learn from her mistakes.
Of course, if her pitiful appearance could help her avoid being scolded, that would be even better. At least, for now, it seemed like Rick Amber was reluctant to scold her.
“When you go to the Sirius Star, you should be able to see the teacher’s wife. The teacher has always cared deeply for her, and she has always wanted a daughter, but unfortunately, she only had two sons,” Rick Amber said with a smile.
Ruo Manni’s eyes immediately brightened. Her senior brother really knew how to make her feel better.
It seemed like the person sent by Li Qixing had timed Ruo Manni’s return precisely. The siblings hadn’t even had a chance to discuss the training exercise before they received the arrival notification.
Ruo Manni also learned at this moment that the school took her personal safety very seriously. Without Li Qixing’s authorization and Rick Amber’s personal accompaniment, she would not have been allowed to meet outsiders. This also meant that Ruo Manni shouldn’t expect to leave the school on her own.
Upon arriving at the reception area of Xuan Gu First Military Academy, the siblings saw a young and handsome officer waiting there.
“This is Lieutenant Akar Kessel, the professor’s right-hand aide. He was sent to pick you up, indicating how much the professor values your safety,” Rick Amber said quietly to Manni.
Lieutenant Akar Kessel looked younger than Hua Deqi but was already a Level 7 warrior. His fierce and formidable aura showed that his path of growth was different from Hua Deqi’s. He had clearly fought his way up, and such individuals usually have very strong combat abilities.
Rick Amber and Akar Kessel exchanged greetings and spoke a few words, their expressions and tone indicating that they were quite familiar with each other.
“Miss Ruo Manni, I am Akar Kessel, the aide to the Colonel. The Colonel sent me to pick you up.”
