Chapter 135 - Red Light Particles
Hearing Hebrew Adam’s plan, Ruo Manni ensured that the fourth-tier Spirit Core Mutant Tree couldn’t create illusions to hinder their actions. Unable to directly destroy the Spirit Core of the fourth-tier mutant tree, she used her mental power to suppress it, preventing it from using telekinesis to create illusions.
However, Ruo Manni realized she had made a mistake when she noticed that her mental energy was being drained too quickly. Fortunately, the fourth-tier mutant tree had expended a significant amount of its mental power when trapping Adam’s team in illusions, resulting in a stalemate where neither side could gain the upper hand or withdraw their mental energy.
For Hebrew Adam and his team, without the interference of the fourth-tier mutant tree’s telekinesis, the first and second-tier mutant trees could no longer block their progress. Within seven or eight seconds, Hebrew Adam reached within fifty meters of the fourth-tier mutant tree.
Here, there were no more trees to obstruct the mutant tree. Hebrew Adam pulled out a palm-sized gun from his pocket, adjusted the setting, and fired five shots at the fourth-tier mutant tree.
As the small red light particles hit the roots of the fourth-tier mutant tree, the violent impact caused the particles to explode, emitting a dazzling red light and a series of intense explosion sounds.
“Everyone, lie down!” Hebrew Adam shouted as he quickly dropped to the ground after firing his gun.
Although the others didn’t know what weapon Hebrew Adam was using or what it was firing, they reacted quickly, hitting the ground and covering their heads before the explosion’s shockwave reached them.
Ruo Manni was a bit slow to react and seemed stunned, but fortunately, Su Forty-Three quickly tackled her to the ground, shielding her with his body.
The explosion was deafening, and the heatwave, carrying debris, struck them painfully. Without the specially designed combat suits, they would have been injured.
Once the explosion subsided, everyone looked up and was surprised to see that the fourth-tier mutant tree had been blown into several pieces, and even its roots had been uprooted. The surrounding mutant trees within a few meters also didn’t survive.
Hebrew Adam sprang into action, leaping to the roots of the fourth-tier mutant tree. He switched to a broadsword and brought it down heavily.
Suddenly, the team heard a piercing sound wave that almost ruptured their eardrums and penetrated their heads. The members of Adam’s team felt their heads pounding and their vision darkening.
Fortunately, the sound wave was only momentary and didn’t have time to cause them harm. When Adam’s team regained their senses and looked around, they saw Hebrew Adam extracting a black crystal core from the roots of the fourth-tier mutant tree.
Hebrew Adam’s expression and actions indicated that he didn’t seem to be affected by the sound wave.
“Finally taken care of,” Tamaki Kazia sighed in relief and got up from the ground.
Since he was right behind Hebrew Adam and was one of the first to approach the explosion site, he was indeed in a disheveled state.
“How could there be such a high-tier psychic core mutant tree in a new recruit training area? Captain, do you think there’s any hidden agenda behind this?” Sheila asked, somewhat dispirited.
If the instructors didn’t intend to risk their lives, such an arrangement shouldn’t have been made. Sheila naturally suspected that there might be some hidden agenda, considering there was a second prince among them, and matters involving royalty are always unpredictable.
Despite Sheila’s straightforward and candid nature, she knew well what could and could not be said. Her earlier comments were indeed the kind of taboo words that should be avoided.
But Sheila was genuinely terrified by the experience of the illusion. Even though she knew afterward that it was only her own fantasy, she was still unable to recover from the shock, and her heart remained in a state of lingering fear.
If Sheila couldn’t resolve the fear left behind after a while, it could create a psychological shadow that might turn into a mental obstacle during future advancements.
After such trauma, Sheila could hardly accept remaining silent and enduring it.
Hebrew Adam didn’t speak, but from his expression, Sheila could see that he also had doubts.
Su Forty-Three, who was ordered by the captain to protect Ruo Manni, noticed that the other team members had gotten up and also stood up. Seeing that Ruo Manni was still lying on the ground, he said, “Is the deputy team leader okay?.”
Since Ruo Manni didn’t respond and remained motionless, Su Forty-Three quickly realized something was wrong and hurried over to help her.
Su Forty-Three then discovered that their deputy team leader had somehow fallen unconscious. Her face was extremely pale, and there was even blood seeping from the corner of her mouth, with a large bump on her forehead also showing traces of blood.
“Captain, the deputy team leader is unconscious!” Su Forty-Three shouted in panic.
Su Forty-Three, remembering the force used when he tackled Ruo Manni, felt guilty. He worried that the deputy team leader might have been knocked unconscious during the tackle.
Hebrew-Adam’s expression changed slightly upon hearing this. He quickly ran over to the two and took Ruo Manni from Su Forty-Three.
The other four team members also hurried over. Seeing Ruo Manni in such a pitiful state made everyone anxious. Since Ruo Manni was the only telekinetic on the team and the others were all fighters, they couldn’t determine the cause of her unconsciousness.
“Quick, contact the instructors,” Hebrew Adam ordered decisively. Team rankings could be contested in future drills; the safety of his teammates was the priority.
At this point, the other team members also shifted their focus from rankings to the safety of their comrades. They all activated their emergency signals.
At that moment, Instructor Dudley and several other instructors suddenly appeared behind Hebrew Adam, startling everyone. They aimed their weapons at the group.
“Instructor Dudley, you nearly gave us a heart attack!” Sheila exclaimed.
It was unclear what the instructors had been doing, as they hadn’t appeared during the team’s dangerous situation, only showing up after they had risked their lives to resolve it.
“Hebrew, hand Ruo Manni over to me, and I’ll take her for treatment,” Instructor Dudley said, his face showing clear signs of distress. It was evident that they had also encountered some issues earlier, which is why they hadn’t arrived in time to assist.
This time, Hebrew Adams didn’t resist and handed Ruo Manni over to Instructor Dudley, but he wasn’t ready to completely let go. “I want to stay and watch.”
Hebrew Adam was more concerned than Sheila, understanding that today’s crisis might have been targeted at him. Without Ruo Manni, their outcome could have been very different.
Hebrew Adam couldn’t fully trust the instructors who had come with them, considering their positions and affiliations. For Ruo Manni’s safety, he could allow Instructor Dudley to provide aid, but he could not abandon all oversight.
Instructor Dudley looked at Hebrew Adam and understood his concerns. He said wearily, “You all should come along as well; everyone needs to be checked.”
