Chapter 113 - Escape from the Scene
When Sheila and Tamaki Kazia were in danger, before Hebrew Adam could rush over to help, Ruo Manni managed to transform her telekinetic power into a protective shield, separating the two teammates from the sea beasts and protecting them from attacks.
Hebrew Adam then realized that Ruo Manni’s telekinetic power was much stronger than he had imagined. Her telekinetic strength seemed to exceed her current level. She was only a Level 5 Telekinetic right now—how strong would she be if she reached Level 8?
No wonder everyone believes that high-level Telekinetics have incredibly strong control over the battlefield. In battles, as long as there is a high-level Telekinetic present, the casualty rate of their side will greatly decrease.
This brutal fight took almost half an hour, but Adam’s team finally managed to kill all the Ani sea beasts. Before they could even catch their breath, Ruo Manni, with a serious expression and an urgent tone, said, “More sea beasts are coming, and they are of a higher level than the ones we just faced. Let’s go quickly before they spot us.”
Hebrew Adam quickly darted forward like an arrow, rushing to Ruo Manni’s side. She immediately grabbed onto his backpack, and they sped off, with the other team members sheathing their weapons and following closely behind their captain.
The other four members, who were either at the late stage of Level 4 or at the peak of mid-Level 4, swam as fast as arrows in this emergency situation. In less than a minute, they had escaped the bloody scene.
“Two thousand meters away, there are three third-level Blood Sand Sea Beasts, but they haven’t noticed us yet and are heading toward the place where we just fought,” the scout Ruo Manni reported.
Upon hearing that the danger was averted, everyone let out a sigh of relief, though they dared not slow down their swimming speed. Despite only being three in number, the Blood Sand Sea Beasts were four to five meters long, and their gaping mouths could swallow a human whole. These beasts were the most terrifying in shallow waters, with the combat strength of one being equivalent to that of more than a dozen Ani sea beasts.
In their current state, with their stamina more than half depleted, a fierce battle with the Blood Sand Sea Beasts would likely leave them with no energy left to swim, not to mention the possibility of encountering more sea beasts later on.
“Captain, slow down a bit; I’m having trouble keeping up,” Sheila called out from behind.
Among the six members of Adam’s team, Sheila was the least physically fit, aside from Ruo Manni.
Upon hearing this, Hebrew Adam slowed down. Despite having fought in a melee and swum a great distance while carrying someone, his breathing remained steady, and Ruo Manni was impressed.
After swimming in the sea for more than two hours, fighting the sea beasts, and then swimming for another hour with Ruo Manni, Hebrew Adam’s breath was slightly heavy but still stable, indicating that he wasn’t overly fatigued.
Ruo Manni was envious, jealous, and resentful of his incredible physical stamina, realizing more and more just how lacking her own stamina was.
During the battle with the Ani sea beasts, Ruo Manni noticed that Hebrew Adam’s movements were extremely fierce when he killed the beasts. It was obvious that he wasn’t facing this situation for the first time—in fact, he seemed very familiar with this type of combat.
Despite being a higher rank than even the senior students, Hebrew Adam’s foundation was solid, and his comprehensive combat abilities were exceptionally strong. It was clear that he hadn’t gained his strength through the rumored “chemical enhancement” but through extensive experience in real combat.
A spoiled young man who wasn’t a reincarnator managed to train to this level—who knows where he spent those two years and what he experienced to undergo such a transformative change.
Ruo Manni, who was being “carried” by the big shot, had regained much of her telekinetic power and stamina. She glanced behind but didn’t see any other teams.
“Captain, you should check our latitude. I looked back 3,000 meters and didn’t see anyone.”
“I’ve been keeping an eye on it; we haven’t deviated from our original latitude,” Hebrew Adam confidently replied.
Ruo Manni had also been monitoring this, and their data matched, so there was no chance of a mistake.
With that assurance, Ruo Manni relaxed. When they encountered the sea beasts earlier, they had fought for at least half an hour. In that time, not a single team had passed them, nor had she seen any sign of the Hua Deli team that had been trailing them. This made her somewhat worried.
Perhaps the distance between the two teams was too great, or maybe Hua Deli’s team had also been attacked by sea beasts, causing them to fall further behind Adam’s team.
Sure enough, the journey ahead wasn’t peaceful either. Luckily, with Ruo Manni acting as a “radar,” they avoided the previous mistake of being unable to dodge the Ani sea beasts in time. She expanded her “range” to 3,000 meters.
This extended range exceeded the detection capabilities of sea beasts below Level 4, allowing Adam’s team to avoid sea beasts more than 2,000 meters away before they were detected.
However, this also meant that Adam’s team couldn’t maintain a straight path. At one point, to avoid being detected by a Level 4 sea beast, they had to take a huge detour, swimming five to six extra nautical miles compared to a straight line.
While this undoubtedly increased the total distance the team had to swim, no one complained. Swimming further was much less exhausting than fighting sea beasts head-on.
However, the longer they stayed in the water, the more their stamina would be depleted. Not only were they tired, but hunger was also becoming a major issue.
Since the school had prohibited them from carrying food, it wasn’t easy to find something to eat in the sea, so they had to endure it. When the hunger became unbearable, they drank water instead.
But with nothing in their stomachs and no energy replenishment, drinking water didn’t help much. Shelia’s face had turned pale—she was clearly starving.
Ruo Manni remembered a novel where the female lead secretly brought high-energy food, which played a crucial role in helping Hua Deli’s team cross the strait faster than the others, allowing them to reach the island half an hour ahead of the other teams.
While Ruo Manni didn’t have access to such mysterious energy food, she did have a substitute. This morning, after some thought, she had packed it in her backpack.
During the inspection before the exercise, she was lucky enough not to be caught. Ruo Manni guessed that it had been mistaken for medicine, as they were allowed to carry some medical supplies, but the food was strictly prohibited.
If she didn’t do something and let everyone continue in this state, they might lose to Hua Deli’s team. Who knows what challenges awaited them on the island?
After some thought, Ruo Manni signaled everyone to stop and form a circle, then said, “I brought a kind of medicinal powder that, when mixed with water, can quickly replenish stamina and help with hunger, but it doesn’t taste good. Do you want to try it?”
“But let me warn you in advance: this medicinal powder is a specialty of Topaz Star. The plant it’s derived from is slightly toxic. Topaz Star people only use it during special times to restore stamina. Occasional use is fine, but frequent use can be harmful to your health.”
