Can Regression go Wrong?

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Sudden Changes

Lucas's Pov

I don't know what to do now.

I looked around the empty cabin. The people were dead, and I had dumped their corpses, forming a mountain for me to sit on top of.

I sighed. This world wasn't the same as mine; it was the world I knew from the past, but the future wasn't the one I knew.

What should I do now? I thought.

The constellations were still present. This world wasn't the one I knew, so maybe the constellations might have changed, too. I bet Uriel was the same person, regardless of the timeline.

I wonder if Hades and Persephorone are doing good, it was so hard for them and Uriel to get along. These were the only good memories of mine in that damn tower.

"Since..." I climbed down the mountain of corpses.

"I don't have anything to do now, I will find my new goal."

My words were calm and sweet, but my thoughts were quite the opposite.

New goal? Maybe, but after I check everything, the motives and behaviour of the constellations, and the variables in my regression.

Revenge is no good thing; one can become so driven for it that they lose themselves, and I cannot afford that to happen to me.

Suddenly, a large amount of soul essence started to concentrate and rippled. Sylas manifested from thin air with a small smile on his face.

The yaksha was a little too happy with how his stream was going.

[The constellations are quite satisfied with your capabilities.]

The yaksha, clad in a black suit, grinned.

[You must have received their grace.]

Ah... the astral points. He must be talking about them. I got many of them, and the total points I gained were two thousand and fifty points.

The constellations that granted me these points were mostly those who thrived on the thrill of battle. Their names remained hidden, replaced by titles reflecting their essence. In most cases, their actions formed the foundation of their legend.

The most peculiar one was the "Golden Sage of the Sundering Heavens", also known as Sun Wukong or Heaven's equal.

I hadn't met him even once, but I heard that he is rather neutral and doesn't choose any sides, but he is also crazy for fights; he was a complex constellation. Honestly, he was thrilled with my battle art.

Hmm... to be honest, I should feel a little proud. He is more experienced than I when it comes to battles and combat prowess.

I looked toward Sylas, who was staring at me, waiting patiently for an answer; his patience served him good.

"I guess I showed them a good fight." I said in a calm voice, with a shrug.

Sylas smirked.

[You must have received hefty amounts for a newbie. If you keep entertaining the constellation, you might get more than this.]

I nodded with a fake smile.

"I will try to do my best..." I said.

Fucking hell... Now I have to dance like a clown for these bitches. Or maybe I am a clown?

In a few moments, a message was heard.

[The given time has run out.]

[Failures are bound to disappointment; the judgment will be given.]

[Initiating the penalty .]

There was no sound for a few moments, nor could I hear any from the carriages after mine; it was the last one, a matter of fact.

[You have killed 25 human beings.]

[You have completed the quest in ten minutes.]

[Additional Astral points will be compensated as a reward.]

[10,250 Astral points acquired.]

[You have gained a huge amount of points. Do you want to understand the point usage system?]

"Yes." I said with a calm voice.

Within seconds, information flowed into my head. It caused a little pain, but the information I gained was useless.

The Astral point system and the attribute point system of the tower worked in the same way; the points were used to raise stats, and it was used to buy items from the shop, but they didn't have one feature: the upgrading of skills.

Skills can either be upgraded by using points or understanding the skill usage in different ways can result in the advancement of skill level or, in rare cases, was formation of a sub-skill.

Maybe the system also works in the same way, I should give it a try.

Status window.

Nothing opened. I tried words like 'Attribute window' or 'Status', but nothing showed up. I sighed in disappointment.

How the heck was I supposed to see my traits now?

[Main Quest #1- Breaking the Shackles of Morality has ended.]

[1000 Astral points have been given as a quest reward.]

[500 Astral points have been deducted by the streamer using their rights.]

[The stream has ended.]

[Total Astral points: 11,800]

The train had already started to move, but I wasn't interested in the scenery outside; my 500 points were gone, and that was more important to me.

I looked toward the place Sylas was floating, but he wasn't there. That bastard had left me without any notice, good for him though, if I it was me in my prime I would have roasted the hell out of that goddamn bunny like creature.

The door of my cabin suddenly started to open.

Someone was forcing their way in. It should take them a minute to open, so I climbed the mountain of corpses and sat in my previous position.

I need to look cool and... intimidating.

The door opened, and the figure that came out of it was a young man, who looked a little younger than me. His hair was dark black, and his eyes were oceanic blue. Clad in a white shirt and black pants with white sneakers that were stained with blood like mine, but in comparison, his were more stained.

The sleeves of his shirt were folded, his right hand was holding a pen, and an open black tie was wrapped around his hand.

Did he kill all of the people with that pen?

That young man standing in front of me had the tenacity to survive this world; his fierce, cold-blooded eyes showed it, but in those cold-blooded eyes, there was a feeling of shock.

Grey's Pov

I was standing alone in the cabin, and the corpses of the people were scattered on the floor. Some of them had their eyes gouged out, few of them had marks of choking on their neck. I had received a few scars on my hands and face, too, but they could be healed.

[Wow, you sure have created a mess in here.]

The figure of Sylas manifested, the yaksha was happy with how his stream was going on, as the constellations were probably flowing in his channel, not that I knew how much he subscribers he had gained.

"Yeah, I had to... These were the only things I had to fight with." I waved my bloody pen and the black tie wrapped around my wrist.

[You were merciless back there.]

"That was the only choice..."

I said with a little contempt for the lives I destroyed with my own two hands... well, with a pen and a tie.

[The constellation "Sovereign of the Hollow realm" shows interest in your next actions.]

[1000 astral points have been sponsored.]

Was there a constellation like this in my novel?

Probably not. They might be a variable in the original story, but they seem to be rich, too. A normal constellation will not give this many points just because of their interest.

[The given time has run out.]

[Failures are bound to disappointment; the judgment will be given.]

[Initiating the penalty .]

The voice stopped for a few moments before continuing again.

[You have killed 10 human beings.]

[You have completed the quest in 35 minutes.]

[Your methods of killing were cruel enough to make death fascinate you.]

[Additional Astral points will be compensated as a reward.]

[6,210 Astral points acquired.]

[You have gained a huge amount of points. Do you want to understand the point usage system?]

I omitted the message. There was no need for me to understand it, as there wasn't going to be any variable in this.

The usage of Astral points was a building block for the system to work fairly.

[Main Quest #1- Breaking the Shackles of Morality has ended.]

[1000 Astral points have been given as a quest reward.]

[500 Astral points have been deducted by the streamer using their rights.]

[Total Astral points: 7,710]

Damn losing points stings a little...

I stared at Sylas, who had stars in his eyes. He must have received many donations from the constellations, too.

Sensing my gaze, Sylas coughed a little.

[Ahem... I will be back in a few minutes.]

With that, he disappeared in thin air, leaving me behind.

"Bastard didn't even give me any explanations of what to do next now." I said with an annoyed tone.

Not that I need it.

Since I had nothing to do, I planned to enter the other cabins. The train started to move again. The scenery outside wasn't good, with destruction all over. The sky was burning red, and huge monsters were roaming around, destroying buildings.

Munich was gradually turning into a pile of debris as beings like Zyrrakoth, an S-grade beast, wreaked havoc. Its serpentine body crushed buildings while its massive wings whipped up tornadoes, leaving destruction in its wake.

The beast cannot harm this train until it stops.

So I have two choices: either go in the next cabin or the previous one, the last one, in fact, 'she' is present in either of them, holding a sword ready to cut anyone's head off. The next cabin had people dying immediately after the quest started, while the other one took time, meaning 'she' is probably in the next cabin.

I took a deep breath; my life depended upon this guess. If wrong, it would send me to the hands of death, and if I were right, my life might get its salvation.

But salvation didn't look good either in this situation...

I walked towards the door while cleaning the pen with my shirt and put it in my mouth. Using my hands, I grabbed the two handles of the door and pushed it with my might. But it wasn't enough; the automatic doors didn't budge at all.

[1,500 Astral points have been used.]

[Stamina Lv 2 ---> Stamina Lv 5]

[Durability and Vitality of the body have been increased.]

My injuries were healed, and my body felt more durable.

[Strength Lv 2 ---> Strength Lv 5]

[The fatigue of the body has been erased.]

[Total Astral points: 6,210]

Everything was ready now. I pushed the door once again and was able to open it easily. Taking the pen out of my mouth, I grabbed it in my hand again and wrapped the tie around it.

With that, I entered the next cabin through the door. At the end of the cabin, a mountain of human corpses with marks of a blade on them was piled up, and sitting on top of it was a man.

His face showed he was around my age, perhaps younger than me, and his eyes were like unique gemstones, red and glittered with specks of violet and gold, his silver grey hairs were tied neatly in a bun, and that man was staring at me coldly.

The long black overcoat of his was clean like his face, except his black shirt was a little stained with blood, and the same was true for his grey pants and black boots.

That man's overall description matched with someone else. At that moment, I remembered him, but that man in front of me shouldn't be alive.

No, it can't be... He should have died five years ago.

The man in front of me was none other than the protagonist's older brother...

Lucas Andersson.
