Can Regression go Wrong?

Chapter 1: Chapter 1: The Fall of a Regressor

Amidst a place filled with destruction, two figures were flying at high speeds and clashing. One of them was a gorgeous being covered in hideous scars, his golden hairs were sullied with blood, and all six of his wings were in bad condition but enough to allow him to fly at high speeds.

The other's condition was no good either, his face was burnt, one of his eyes was replaced by a black socket, and his silver-grey hairs were swaying in the direction of the burning winds. One of his arms was cut off, while his other arm held a white short sword, and blood was dripping from the blade's end.

Using his other eye, he stared at the golden-haired figure in front of him and pointed his blade at him. He opened his mouth and spoke in a hoarse and crude voice.

"Metatron, Today will be the day you meet your end."

The Archangel and the leader of the society , Metatron, stared at the person in front of him, both of them maintained their distance and walked circularly, waiting for a chance to make a move.

"You will be the one to fall today, you vicious devil incarnate."

Hearing his words, the figure laughed and said in a voice laced with venom.

"My my, I have a name, you know. It's Lucas, you fucking blonde bird."

The words enraged, Metatron but he was wise enough to give in to his anger and make rash decisions, in front of him was not a normal being even if Lucas was a demigod at body he was still able to kill Zeus and Ares, the arrogant father and son duo held their noses high and blindly believed in their power as a God and a supreme constellation.

If that was not enough, this demigod in front of Metatron was also the man who had destroyed many societies of various constellations.

Metatron needed to be careful if he didn't want to lose his head, and if the outcome he desired was not possible with his power, he would use the artifacts he was especially stopped him from using.

I have enough attribute points to burn if I use the , everything around me, even I would be destroyed, but my soul would be preserved.

Keeping the plan in mind, Metatron dashed, flashing his golden burning blade, following his suit, Lucas dashed at him. Both of them clashed their blades, one was burning while one was pristine white with dried blood on it. Staring at each other, they leapt back simultaneously and clashed again.

Metatron kicked him in the chest, sending Lucas back a few metres, but his grip on his sword didn't loosen. Metatron didn't give any time for Lucas to retaliate, and dashed at him with high speed, swinging his sword at Lucas only to be met by the pristine blade of his.

"Tch.. petty bug."

Lucas didn't pay any attention to Metatron's words. He kicked him straight in the face, possessing a demi-god's body combined with a high strength stat, a kick powerful enough to send Metatron to the sky and possibly make him remember the beautiful gardens of .

Fighting in the sky was an advantage for him, as Metatron's wings were damaged not by much but enough for him to expend extra energy on them. Two black, ragged wings erupted from his body, and he flew upwards at high speed, slicing the air. He reached Metatron, who had used the moment to position himself.

Covering his sword with red energy, he slashed many times, sending various crimson crescent moons at Metatron. He dodged a few of them and deflected the remaining, showing his expertise as the supreme archangel.

Metatron used his body weight and propelled at Lucas; both of them clashed this time, however, their clash was not a normal one, and it created a huge explosion.

A cloud of smoke was created from the explosion, and a few moments later, there was a series of red and golden light explosions that took place in it.

The clashes increased with each passing moment. The intensity increased and caused more explosions, but it slowly decreased afterwards. The two figures crashed out of the smoke and fell onto the ground.

Metatron was on the ground, his wings completely broken and in a mess, as if he had been bitten, and his body was missing pieces of flesh.

Lucas rested his leg on Metatron's chest and spat on his face. He stared at the blood he had spat from his mouth with a little satisfaction; it was not his blood after all. He had blood smeared on his mouth, but couldn't wipe it off as his other arm was also cut off.

Metatron stared at Lucas, feeling emotions like disgust, hatred, dread, fear, and a sense of defeat. He was defeated by a demigod who was human before ascending and had just entered the realm of the supreme constellation.

Metatron was a noble being from the start and reached the peak of the supreme constellation after aeons, but he still lost.

If only you were a being of noble race, I wouldn't have to resort to this method.

Lucas stared at him and smirked.

"Now what, Metatron? You lost, and this will be the cause of your death. Don't think of sending a fragment of your soul, because I will crush your heart, the source of energy for every being and the keeper of your soul core. Any questions or last words in your case?"

Metatron didn't reply at first, but then eventually asked his only doubt.

"How... How did you defeat me, a being in the peak of the Supreme constellations, when you just entered it?"

Lucas grinned.

"How did I do it? Well, indeed, anyone who just entered the realm of the supreme constellation cannot defeat a person who has reached the peak of it, but that applies to normal people, and I am not a normal person."

He didn't stop and continued.

"You know I have a unique trait called the , and do you know what it does? It absorbs anything I kill, and you know me, I have killed many constellations when I was just at the peak of the transcendent stage, so think about how much it would have grown in strength?"

Hearing all of this, Metatron's eyes widened, but then he laughed, his laughter at his last moments was not filled with defeat, it was... happiness and joy. Lucas's brows rose in confusion. To clear his confusion, Metatron spoke his last words, or that was what Lucas thought.

"Incredible for a pathetic human like you, I may have lost, but today is not the day I will die... initiate the ."

Lucas stared at Metatron, too stunned to speak. The body of Metatron disappeared into dust, leaving his leg in an awkward position. Putting his feet on the ground, he sat on a nearby rock that was still not crushed during his battle.

He stared at the red sky and sighed, he had accepted his fate because he knew what the was and how destructive it could be, he had experienced it in his previous regressions but didn't have an idea that an archangel has a demonic item related to a concept like death.

worked on a simple mechanism, it preserves its user's soul, traps the place it was used in a different dimension and releases a destructive energy that eats everything in its path.

[The constellation "Demonic-Judge of the Heaven" doesn't wish your death.]

Uriel...I am sorry.

[The society raises a toast to your failure.]

[A few constellations of society are dancing in joy.]

[The constellation "Demonic-Judge of the Heaven" threatens the other constellations of their society.]

[A few constellations of the society are unhappy that they can't reap your soul and make you their slave.]

[The constellation "Keeper of the Night's Wealth" looks at you with pity and asks about your final words.]

Lucas stared at the translucent black screens hovering around him. He read each word and sighed when he read the last message.

"What are my last words, huh? Hmm... all the puny gods who hate me, go fuck yourselves and wait patiently before I come to your home and slit your throats."

Lucas's arms regenerated, and then he gave a middle finger, pointing it towards the sky. He mocked the constellations, enraging many of them, but few contemplated his words. He took something from the inventory—a box of cigarettes. Putting one of them in his mouth, he lit a small fire from his finger and ignited the tobacco in it.

He took a deep drag from the cigarette and let the smoke enter his lungs, letting it settle there for a few moments before letting out a little smoke from his mouth. He threw the half-finished cigarette and looked at it with an unsatisfied expression.

"Did this thing taste this shitty in the past? I thought that smoking at the last moment gives a sweet taste in the mouth."

He was missing his favourite brand, the one he could find in the tower, but now it was gone. Even on the edge of death, Lucas was still having fun.

[The constellation "Keeper of the Night's Wealth" says that you watched too many fictional shows.]

"Yeah, maybe you are right. I watched too many movies in the past. Enough to get me addicted to this thing."

Something then occurred to Lucas.

Ah, I see. Maybe it is not sweet now, but it will be in my next and last regression.

But then he shuddered and mentally slapped himself for having such a thought, that was implying a failure and also his death in the next attempt. Before he could do anything, a black sphere appeared in front of his eye, just twenty meters away from him.

"It seems my time has come. My eyes ache from reading all the messages you showered upon me. Ah, and Uriel and Hades—I was lucky to have met you both. If fate allows, I will return to see you again someday."

As the words left his lips, the condensed black sphere erupted, unleashing a torrent of malicious, destructive energy. The blast consumed everything in its wake, obliterating the entire floor, along with Lucas.

It is dark and cold.

I wonder if my new regression would be any new, tsk tsk Lucas dying by the same trick thrice is no good.

I am honestly too tired to even think, just when will this darkness crumble away? It is too boring to just float in nothingness.

As if hearing his words...

The world shrouded in the veil of darkness was pierced through by a blinding light, illuminating everything in a dazzling brilliance. At that moment, two eyes slowly opened—vibrant red, flecked with hints of gold and violet, gleaming like precious gemstones.

Lucas had returned in time.
