The Hyatt Hotel, a thirty-two-story skyscraper in the heart of Fuyuki City, straddling the Mion River, was known for its luxurious accommodations and impeccable service.
But to those aware of the Holy Grail War, it was known as the base of operations for Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne's Master.
While the other Masters' attention was focused on the battle at the docks, Kiritsugu Emiya, dressed in his black trench coat, a cigarette dangling from his lips, strode through the hotel lobby and entered an elevator.
To counter the Einzbern's three Servant-class combatants, he'd come to Kayneth's base of operations with a single objective—to kidnap Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri, Kayneth's fiancée.
Kiritsugu knew, from his intel, that Kayneth was deeply infatuated with Sola-Ui. Kidnapping her would give him leverage, a way to indirectly control Diarmuid.
After all, Diarmuid's display of power against Saber at the docks had been—impressive.
And Kayneth, with such an obvious weakness, was a prime target. Kiritsugu wasn't one to let such an opportunity slip away.
In this Grail War, with the Einzbern and Tohsaka wielding such overwhelming power, he needed to bolster his own forces.
Sola-Ui, as a means of controlling Kayneth, was a valuable asset.
The elevator ascended rapidly. Reaching the eighth floor, Kiritsugu frowned, pressing the button.
"As I thought. It wouldn't be this easy." He stepped out of the elevator, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, a faint green glow emanating from it.
Kayneth, a proper Magician, had naturally set up a workshop. And the Hyatt Hotel, from the ninth floor to the thirty-second, had been converted into his personal domain, each floor protected by layers of magical defenses.
Any intruders with magical energy would be targeted.
Normally, Kiritsugu would simply blow up the entire building, burying his target beneath the rubble.
But his objective was to capture Sola-Ui alive. That meant infiltrating Kayneth's defenses, and he had to do it before Kayneth returned.
"Lancelot," he called out.
A soft, azure glow materialized behind him, manifesting into the armored form of Lancelot.
"Disable the workshop's defenses. Reach the top floor. Capture the woman. Bring her to me." Kiritsugu handed Lancelot a photo of Sola-Ui.
Using a Servant, a being whose power far surpassed that of any human, to dismantle the defenses was the most efficient approach.
Lancelot's expression, hidden beneath his helmet, shifted, then he nodded silently and punched the ceiling.
BOOOOOOOOMMMMM!
A three-meter wide hole appeared in the reinforced concrete, revealing the ninth floor's corridor.
Lancelot leaped upwards, landing on the ninth floor, then, with another punch, continued his ascent.
....
On the Hyatt Hotel's top floor, a woman with fiery red hair sat on a leather sofa by the window, her presence radiating an aura of power and elegance.
Despite her youthful appearance, barely twenty years old, and her expensive clothes, her gaze was sharp, her demeanor regal, like a queen surveying her domain.
Her name was Sola-Ui Nuada-Re Sophia-Ri.
A daughter of the prestigious Sophia-Ri family, one of the Lords of the Clock Tower. But as a child born out of wedlock, she hadn't inherited the family's Magic Crest. She'd been raised as a political tool, destined for an arranged marriage.
And her current—fiancé—was Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald.
She'd met him a few times at the Clock Tower, her impression of him that of an arrogant, if talented, lemon-haired mage. She hadn't disliked him, but she hadn't been attracted to him either.
But being forced into an engagement—she loathed it, the very idea of being a fiancée repulsive to her.
Sola-Ui, a woman of the modern era, naturally rebelled against the fate her family had chosen for her—to be a breeding vessel, a tool for political gain.
She'd been raised like livestock, confined and controlled. And by the time she'd realized it, she'd already been promised to Kayneth.
But she was just a beginner in the world of magecraft, her skills limited. She had no power to disobey her family.
However, Kayneth's decision to bring her to Fuyuki City for the Holy Grail War had given her a glimmer of hope.
She looked out the window, towards the Mion River, her voice a soft murmur. "Perhaps—a Servant—could protect me from my family—All I want—is freedom."
A low hum filled the room as a green light enveloped her.
Sola-Ui's eyes widened. She recognized the sound. "An intruder!"
Her mind raced.
One of the Masters—taking advantage of Diarmuid's absence, had come to attack.
Their motive was obvious—to kidnap her and use her as leverage against Kayneth. But Sola-Ui, unaware of Kayneth's infatuation with her, saw him as a typical Magician.
'Would a Magician, obsessed with the Root and his own ambitions, care about a mere fiancée? A Magician willing to sacrifice anything—even his own family—for power?' The thought filled her with dread.
Then, the floor exploded.
Lancelot stood before her, clad in his blue armor.
Sola-Ui stared at him, the overwhelming aura of his magical energy pressing down on her, her voice barely a whisper. "I can't escape—There's—no escape…"
Despair washed over her. She knew her fate.
Lancelot, looking at the terrified girl through his helmet's visor, hesitated.
His code of honor forbade him from harming an unarmed woman. But his Master, Kiritsugu Emiya, had given him explicit orders to capture her. His loyalty warred with his principles.
Then, he saw Diarmuid, leaping across the rooftops below, approaching rapidly. A subtle smile touched his lips.
"Woman, if you want to live, hold onto that sofa."
Sola-Ui blinked, then, understanding, her survival instincts kicking in, she grabbed the sofa's armrests, her grip tight.
Lancelot leaped forward, grabbing the sofa. 'A knight's hands were never truly unarmed.'
The beige leather of the sofa darkened, transforming, becoming—something more. In that instant, the ordinary piece of furniture had been elevated to the level of a Noble Phantasm.
"Diarmuid! Catch your Master's wife!" Lancelot roared, hurling the sofa towards the approaching Diarmuid. He knew, with Diarmuid's skill, he would catch it.
The window shattered as Sola-Ui, reinforcing her body with magic, clung to the sofa, her body hurtling through the air towards Diarmuid.
She looked at him, her face filled with relief. She was safe.
"Thank you…" she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude, the words reaching Lancelot's ears just as—
....
Diarmuid, carrying Kayneth on his back, saw the sofa flying towards him, sensing the aura of a Noble Phantasm radiating from it. His eyes widened.
"An attack!"
As Lancelot watched in stunned silence, Diarmuid swung Gáe Buidhe, deflecting the sofa. Sola-Ui, unable to even scream, was sent flying.
"....."
