NOVEL WEB AUTHOR'S NOTE: End of "Act 1"
Greetings readers,
The end of Chapter 11, with the joining of the Symbiotes with their new hosts, ends what I've been generally considering "Act 1" of this first book (up through chapter 45), with the next Chapter (chapter 12) acting as a bridge between Acts 1 and 2. I thought it would be a good time to check in with everyone.
I'm excited as we move into the next part of our story, which will feature some unexpected action scenes, some exciting revelations, and, of course our ensemble of characters getting to know each other, the other people around them, and settling into their training routines. Things will slowly start to move faster, but will continue to be a very slow burn, driven by the characters and their own personal stories, especially Callie. Once training day arrives, things will start to flow more like a montage.
Act 2 will also start bringing in the LitRPG elements of the story. As the "System" is skill-based, you won't be flooded with endless numbers and stats, but each character will have a suite of skills at their disposal, and each skill has it's unique qualities and quirks. My hope, for those that don't care about or don't enjoy the RPG elements, is to make them unobtrusive and largely skippable, especially visually, within the narrative. A summary list of Callie's skills and their effects will be made available when it is time as well, and updated when appropriate (likely on level up or between acts) and as a separate posting, so those that don't care can easily skip it.
