Chapter 10
Chapter 10
"You have now finally become adults.
The bouquet placed before you is a gift from the Cult Leader to celebrate your true coming-of-age day."
Elder Cosimo spoke to the two naked men and women kneeling before him.
The two men and women, with red wing tattoos engraved on their backs, were sweating coldly.
Cult Leader Giovanni sat on a stone chair behind Elder Cosimo, looking at the two men and women with a satisfied expression.
"Thank you sincerely for giving me and my younger brother, Onyx, such an opportunity, Cult Leader."
"Thank you, Cult Leader.
Thanks to you, we now know that justice has not completely disappeared."
Cult Leader Giovanni nodded at the words of the two men and women and stood from his seat.
Recently, Giovanni was in a very good mood, having successfully completed the Abyss One experiment on the island and now witnessing the birth of two powerful evangelists.
"Until now, you were lighter than feathers in the eyes of the world's elite.
But now, it's different.
By offering as sacrifices the wicked boss who fired and sued your whistleblower parents, and the judge who took the side of that wicked boss, you have gained strength.
Rise, the new evangelists of the Medici Family, Spinel and Onyx."
When the two men and women rose with the bouquet as per Cult Leader Giovanni's words, the surrounding Medici Family believers approached them and draped black hooded cloaks over their shoulders.
"You are now death, the destroyers of the world."
Cult Leader Giovanni declared loudly, spreading his arms toward the two.
Spinel and Onyx, their faces flushed with excitement and anticipation, bowed deeply to Cult Leader Giovanni in salute.
At that moment, the sound of drums began to resound from somewhere and soon echoed throughout the entire Medici Family temple.
Cult Leader Giovanni, hearing the majestic drumbeat, smiled broadly as he thought about what would happen to this country in the future.
Gas Mask and Mina were sitting in a secluded alley corner, eating tteokbokki from paper cups while continuing to observe the main gate of the high school labeled Kangseong High School.
"Mmm... It's been a while since I've had tteokbokki. It's so delicious.
Thank you for buying it for me, Gas Mask."
"This snack place makes really good tteokbokki.
If you want to eat more, let me know."
"No, I've had enough.
By the way, I thought they'd come out around this time, but they're later than I expected."
Mina said as she observed the students from Kangseong High School leaving after class.
By now, the sun was setting, painting the alley red, and with most of the students already leaving the school, the number of students heading home was gradually decreasing.
"There they are. They haven't changed at all."
Mina smiled as she pointed with one finger at a group of high school students exiting the school.
At a glance, it appeared to be a group of about five male and female high school students forcibly dragging two relatively petite female high school students somewhere.
"Let's move now."
Mina dropped her now-empty paper cup to the ground and crushed it with her foot before speaking.
Gas Mask hurriedly finished off the remaining tteokbokki, crumpled his paper cup with his hand, and tossed it to the ground.
"Alright, let's quietly follow them."
"Yes."
Gas Mask and Mina maintained a slight distance as they slowly followed the group of high school students dragging the two female students.
While being dragged by the group of high school students, the two female students clasped their hands together as if pleading for something, but the group ignored them and dragged them into a nearby abandoned building.
"Gas Mask, could you stay by the entrance here?
And please don't intervene in this matter.
Let me handle this alone."
"Alright, Mina. Got it."
Leaving Gas Mask at the entrance of the abandoned building, Mina followed the group of high school students inside.
By then, the group had forced the two female students into the center of the abandoned building, making them kneel as they shouted at them.
"These days, you've got some nerve, haven't you?
Why don't you answer my calls?
And why haven't you met the clients I introduced to you?
Do you really want to die?"
"Seoyeon, I'm sorry.
We haven't been feeling well these days."
"What? Not feeling well? Should I make sure you can't even walk?"
"Gijoon, please forgive us.
From now on, we'll do everything you say."
Mina couldn't help but chuckle as she watched Seoyeon's gang.
"Really... You haven't changed at all."
Mina clapped lightly toward Seoyeon's gang as she spoke.
Seoyeon, hearing the sound of clapping, turned her head and was startled to see Mina.
"Song Mina... Are you alive?"
"Of course, I'm alive, Seoyeon.
There are still many things I haven't finished in this world."
Mina stopped clapping and spoke to Seoyeon in a cold voice.
"Mina, it's nice to see you. You're dressed so beautifully today."
"Yes, Gijoon, it's nice to see you too. I really wanted to meet you again.
I'm dressed beautifully today, aren't I? How about letting the two female students go and spending time with me instead?
After all, what you want the most is me, isn't it?"
Mina spoke to Gijoon with a bright smile, lifting her short black skirt slightly to show him.
"Song Mina, why are you so forward today?
I'm surprised. Did you finally come to your senses after surviving death?"
"Yes... I've come to my senses."
"Alright. I guess we can talk to these girls later...
Since Song Mina is back, shouldn't we throw a celebration party right away?
Hey, you two, leave now.
I'll call you tonight, so make sure to answer."
As soon as Seoyeon spoke, the two female students stood up, gave a slight bow to Mina, and ran out of the abandoned building.
"So then... Mina, what should we do now? Should we start with business talk?"
"Hmm... Gijoon, how about a little game of fire first?"
"Song Mina, what's really going on today? Why are you so forward?
You've completely come to your senses."
"Yes, that's right."
Mina lightly snapped her fingers toward Gijoon, who was approaching her with a sly smile.
At that moment, with a loud bang, Gijoon's entire body was engulfed in flames, and he fell to the ground, screaming and rolling.
Seoyeon's gang, terrified by the sight of Gijoon's burning body, stood frozen, alternating their gazes between him and Mina.
"You always thought of yourselves as predators, didn't you?
You believed you could lord over the weak and live as you pleased without anyone daring to touch you, didn't you?
But kids, do you know this?
Above predators, there's always a more dangerous being that even devours them."
Mina spoke to Seoyeon's gang, snapping her fingers toward Gijoon once more.
This time, the flames on Gijoon's body completely disappeared.
Mina approached Gijoon, who lay lifeless on the ground, and stepped on his charred body with a smile.
"This feels so good.
So this is what it feels like to stand above the weak.
You guys are really something else.
To think you've been enjoying something this fun all by yourselves."
Mina finished speaking and raised her right index finger.
A small ball of fire appeared above Mina's right index finger.
"Don't worry, Seoyeon.
I'll kill you last.
For now, watch closely as your friends die one by one."
"Song Mina, you crazy b****!"
Minju suddenly rushed towards Mina with a folding knife in one hand.
Mina smiled and pointed at Minju with her index finger, which had a ball of fire floating above it.
The ball of fire flew at Minju in an instant and engulfed her body in flames with a loud bang.
"Help!"
"No! I don't want to die!"
Seoyeon's group screamed and started to scatter in all directions as Minju also burned to death.
Mina continued to flick her index finger, shooting small fireballs everywhere.
The fireballs flew towards Seoyeon's group, burning some of them and then flying to the walls of the abandoned building, setting them ablaze.
Seoyeon could no longer run and collapsed on the spot, starting to cry loudly.
"Seoyeon, are you scared?
Does it scare you to think you're going to die helplessly without being able to do anything with your power?
I felt the same way.
Not just me, but the other kids you used were probably very scared of you.
Why did you live so wickedly?
Seoyeon, you're pretty and your family is rich. If you had lived a little kinder, many kids would have liked you.
But you didn't live that way.
You exploited and bullied those weaker than you by taking advantage of your pretty face and rich family."
"Mina, forgive me.
I'll live kindly from now on.
I won't bully other kids."
"Seoyeon, it's something I've realized now, but the essence of a person never changes.
No matter how cleanly you wash and package garbage, it's still garbage.
In the end, the only way is to burn it away."
From the walls burning fiercely all around, several fireball-like shapes resembling human figures emerged.
The surviving members of Seoyeon's group trembled in fear and stepped back when they saw those shapes.
The shapes slowly walked towards Seoyeon's group and then suddenly rushed at them.
"Don't come!"
"Help!"
The kids in Seoyeon's group who touched the shapes began to burn all over with a loud bang.
Horrific screams and wails spread from everywhere.
It was literally a scene that could only be seen in hell.
"Seoyeon, it's time to say goodbye."
Mina approached Seoyeon, who was sitting on the ground, and spoke.
Mina covered Seoyeon's face, which was looking at her with unfocused eyes, with her right hand.
The flames that erupted from Mina's right hand instantly engulfed Seoyeon's entire body.
Seoyeon let out a brief scream of agony and then fell to the ground, silent.
Mina smiled as she watched Seoyeon's body burn.
Gas Mask watched the abandoned building completely engulfed in flames.
The fierce flames were burning as if they would consume the entire abandoned building.
Just then, a girl walked out of the abandoned building through the flames.
It was Mina, coming out in the same pristine condition as she had entered, not a single strand of hair or piece of clothing singed.
It was always a terrifying sight to behold.
"Gas Mask, isn't it truly beautiful?"
Mina, who had approached Gas Mask, said as she looked at the abandoned building engulfed in flames.
"Is it?"
"Yes, it's a truly beautiful and pretty sight."
Mina, smiling and seemingly mesmerized by the rising flames, couldn't take her eyes off the burning abandoned building.
"How do you feel?"
"I feel somewhat relieved.
It feels like I've set a part of the distorted world right again."
"That's what I and the Medici Family do."
"That's good. Although the things you and the Medici Family did at my school remain in my memory, I'll set them aside.
Honestly, I'm somewhat relieved that many of the kids I couldn't stand died back then.
Since you say you're setting the world right, I'll join the Medici Family for now."
Gas Mask nodded quietly as he listened to Mina's words.
It was all according to Cult Leader Giovanni's plan.
With this, the Medici Family had gained the strongest power.
Even Nia, who was sure to be the biggest obstacle when the Medici Family tried to change the world, could be stopped by Mina.
Gas Mask felt reassured as he watched the burning building, but he was also a bit afraid.
Would Mina's fire become a flame that guides the world in the right direction?
Or would it become a fire that burns everything to ashes?
Gas Mask felt an immense responsibility he had never felt before.
