Chapter 55: Chapter 46 - The Curse Of The Mummy
**Scene: Indra's Wrath — Max vs. Saria**
The pyramid was a grave.
A sepulcher of silence and shimmering gold, where seven legends had fallen.
Shojiro. Leone. Morgz. Enme. Karl. Zans. Kuro.
All of them turned into statues—immortalized in their last moments of resistance.
And in the middle of it stood the final storm. The last thunderclap.
**Max Conrad.**
His coat was half-gone, singed by plasma and sand. Scars marred his torso, red-hot VYTHRA cracks crawling up his skin. His boots crunched over the golden dust of his fallen friends.
Saria hovered across from him, her body flickering between flesh and sand. Her eyes glowed an unholy yellow. Her golden armor shimmered with power older than history itself.
**Saria:** "So, it comes down to you? The loud one. The clown."
**Max (quietly):** "You talk a lot for someone who just lost her entire army to a lightning concert."
**Saria:** "You think you can win alone? Against me? Against eternity?"
Max didn't answer. He raised both arms.
*BZZZZZZAK!*
**Indra's Arrows** extended from his forearms, forged from condensed black lightning. Twin crossbows hummed to life, locked and loaded with fury.
The storm was no longer coming.
**It was here.**
**PHASE 1: Skyfall Barrage — 1,000 Arrows**
Max lunged forward, crossbows blazing.
*ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK!*
The first volley of 1,000 arrows exploded out in tight precision arcs. They tore through the air like black comets, splitting the battlefield in two.
Saria countered with a sand barrier, summoning it in a wave—but the bolts were too fast. They drilled through the wall, glassifying chunks of her arm and shoulder.
**Saria (snarling):** "You dare strike royalty?!"
Max twisted midair, firing a spiraling barrage overhead. The ceiling of the pyramid vaporized into smoke, and starlight poured into the chamber.
He was already airborne.
**Max:** "No ceilings. No rules. No mercy."
He shot again—arrow after arrow—his figure becoming a blur of black lightning and sheer velocity.
**PHASE 2: Close Quarters Rampage — 3,000 Arrows**
Saria transformed, bursting into a sandstorm lioness. She lunged, claws outstretched.
Max disappeared into a bolt of lightning.
He reappeared at her flank.
*ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK!*
Each arrow detonated on contact, carving through her midsection and flinging her across the chamber.
She regenerated mid-roll, reforming her sand body into twin serpents. They wrapped around Max.
He **grinned.**
**Max:** "You're hugging a railgun."
He unleashed 500 arrows point-blank, disintegrating the sand into a black storm.
She reformed again, faster this time, her armor flickering back into place.
He was already behind her, crossbows smoking.
**PHASE 3: The Spiral — 5,000 Arrows**
Saria screamed and rose into the sky, summoning a tornado of cursed sand.
**Saria:** "You cannot escape this tomb!"
Max dropped to one knee, raised both crossbows, and **began spinning.**
A perfect cyclone of black bolts erupted outward.
*ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK-ZRAK!*
5,000 arrows in a perfect spiral formation. They tore through her sandstorm, lighting it up like a galaxy dying in fast-forward.
Each shot burned like a nova.
Each strike pushed her further back.
She howled as half her body became cracked gold-glass, forced to reassemble her mass again and again.
Max fell to one knee, panting, sparks leaking from his jawline.
**VYTHRA: 0.2%**
He looked up.
She was kneeling now.
**Saria:** "You're... burning out. You'll collapse before I die."
Max stood slowly.
**Max:** "You talk too much."
He locked both crossbows together.
**PHASE 4: Final Barrage — The Last 999 Arrows**
The crossbows merged.
One final, massive longbow formed in his hands.
Max floated up, black lightning wrapping around him like wings.
**Max (quietly):** "This one's for Karl."
*FIRE.*
"This one's for Morgz."
*FIRE.*
"For Shojiro."
*FIRE.*
"For Enme."
*FIRE.*
"For Zans."
*FIRE.*
"For Kuro."
*FIRE.*
"For Leone."
*FIRE.*
"For the team."
He drew the final cluster of 999 arrows into the shape of a thunderstorm spear. All aimed at the crumbling body of the cursed mummy goddess.
**Max:**
"AND THIS ONE'S FOR ME!"
He fired.
The sky screamed.
The entire spear slammed into her chest.
**BOOM.**
Saria let out one final cry—and then her body turned to crystal.
Glass. Pure glass. Frozen in a shattered scream.
Max fell from the sky.
His body barely caught by a loose pile of sand.
His crossbows evaporated. His hair was ash. His skin was cracked.
**VYTHRA: 0.01%**
**Max (weakly):** "...I win."
He passed out.
The statue of Saria stood, surrounded by the corpses of Chosen.
But Max... Max stood alone.
The storm had cleared.
The battle was over.
And the gods... were watching.
Scene: Indra's Wrath — Max vs. Saria (Part 2)
The pyramid trembled.
Max could barely lift his arms. Sparks twitched off his skin as the black lightning faded from his veins. His crossbows were gone, dissolved. His VYTHRA core? Barely pulsing.
0.01%.
He had nothing left.
And that's when she descended—graceful, regal, monstrous.
Saria. The true Saria.
The one who had watched, amused, as a tenth millionth of her strength was shattered by Max's thousand-arrow onslaught. Her skin was flawless gold. Her body wrapped in thin, ancient linens that barely covered her divine form. Her eyes burned like twin eclipses.
Saria (approaching slowly): "You've impressed me, thunder child."
Max didn't speak. He couldn't.
She crouched next to him, brushing dust off his cheek. Her touch was cold. Eternal.
Saria: "You burned your soul just to fight a ghost. That kind of madness… it deserves reward."
Her hand drifted across his chest. She leaned in, close enough to whisper.
Saria: "I offer you a choice."
"You're dying. Your VYTHRA is nearly gone. One push and you'll slip into the void."
"But…"
She raised her golden palm, a radiant glyph forming in the air between them.
Saria: "Pledge yourself to me. Become my puppet. My eternal champion. I will restore your life… your strength… even your team."
"Say the word, and I will reverse every curse. Your friends will live again. You will stand again."
"All I ask…"
She tilted his chin up.
Saria: "Is that you become mine. Bound to the Curse of the Mummy."
"When you die, your body, your soul, your legend—will all be mine. Forever."
Max looked up at her, broken but defiant.
Max (hoarse): "You'll bring them back?"
Saria (smiling): "In perfect condition. Not a scar. Not a memory lost."
"But only if you accept."
"And you know the rules of the curse."
"You must kiss me—willingly. No resistance. No hesitation. You must submit… and want it."
The air grew still. Electric.
She leaned in.
Max didn't flinch.
Their lips met.
The kiss was long. Deep. Powerful. Not just a ritual, but a domination—Saria asserting her claim over him, and Max accepting it with his whole soul. He didn't resist. He kissed her back, even as pain lanced through his chest from the glyph.
Golden energy exploded around them.
The pyramid lit up with radiant sigils and ancient flames.
Saria (pulling back, whispering): "It is done."
The Curse of the Mummy had been sealed.
And Max's soul… was no longer his alone.
But his friends—
They began to stir.
Shojiro's stone fingers twitched.
Leone's golden eyes cracked open.
Karl's chest hummed with nanites again.
The fallen Chosen… were rising.
Saria stood beside Max, hand on his shoulder, possessive and proud.
Saria: "Welcome back, my champion."
The storm had survived.
But at a cost the others had yet to understand.
