Chapter 144: Chapter 144 : Stay Focus
Ventura's expression shifted drastically as he turned to Brixton. "Gravity Manipulation? I thought only Tier 9 Forbidden Realm Earth Elemental Mages could cast spells like that! But you're not even a Mage, let alone a Tier 9 one at that!"
"Surprise!" Brixton grinned widely as he brandished his two massive double-handed axes and charged towards those trapped in the gravity field.
With each swing of his axe, heads flew off like confetti, blood spraying into the air like a twisted fountain.
Suddenly, a flash of green light zipped through the chaos, a green arrow pierced the neck of one unfortunate soul caught in the grip of gravity.
In quick succession, three more arrows shot out, claiming another three lives.
After a brief moment, Brixton waved his hand and released the gravity prison.
Those who remained were free to move, but many had already met their end.
"Dammit!" Ventura cursed angrily as he witnessed the carnage unfold before him.
"Don't get distracted in battle," came a voice from behind him just then.
Ventura's heart raced; he quickly spun around and raised his sword defensively. The instant he did so, an overwhelming force slammed into him!
BOOOOOM!
He was sent flying back several meters, dragging his feet along the ground and carving out a long trenchbehind him.
When he finally lifted his head, there stood Trinity just meters away, her gaze locked onto him with deadly intent.
"Ahhh! Save me!" screams echoed around them as Ventura turned to see his men falling like helpless chickens.
Brixton was weaving through the battlefield with ease; each swing of his axes cleaved enemies in half, leaving nothing but bloody remnants behind.
Meanwhile, Melian was on fire, each arrow she released found its mark without fail, piercing through necks and hearts alike.
The rest of the Morningstar Adventurer Team wasn't sitting idle either; they slaughtered anyone who crossed their path with ruthless efficiency.
At the back stood Aegnor beneath an enormous magic circle that pulsed with energy.
Strangely enough, every member of the Morningstar Adventurer Team stood on identical circles beneath their feet, this spell seemed to amplify their power fivefold while boosting their defenses!
Even more astonishingly, any injuries sustained by team members healed instantly thanks to those little green magic circles glowing beneath them.
"Stay Focused in Battle!" A thunderous shout jolted Ventura from his stupor.
He felt a menacing aura closing in, and instinctively raised his sword to defend himself.
But before he could react, a powerful force blasted him back, leaving him pale and coughing up blood.
"Damn it! I swear I'll kill every last one of you!" Ventura growled, his voice low and twisted with rage.
"Ventura," Trinity said coolly as she approached, dragging her long golden spear behind her. "I can't tell if you're just foolish or utterly ignorant. Did you even bother investigating us before launching your attack? Or were you simply overconfident about your chances?"
As she walked closer, her aura intensified, creating an oppressive atmosphere that made the very air around them feel stagnant.
The pressure she emitted was far greater than that of a Tier 5 Grandmaster Knight.
Ventura's eyes widened in disbelief. "You... you're a Tier 6 Epic Knight? Weren't you at Tier 5? How is this possible?" Fear gripped his heart as realization dawned on him.
"Surprised?" Trinity smirked coldly. "Now tell me, how do you want to die?"
"I... I..." Ventura stammered, terror flooding his gaze.
In a desperate bid for survival, he turned and sprinted away into the distance. He knew he was outmatched; he couldn't hope to fight Trinity alone.
Her reputation in the Adventurer world preceded her, she ranked among the top hundred adventurers in the district and had the uncanny ability to jump tiers during battle.
Though he had initially believed that sheer numbers would allow him to overwhelm the Morningstar Adventurer Team, he was painfully mistaken.
He hadn't anticipated that their Vice Captain could manipulate gravity, a skill reserved for only Tier 9 Forbidden Realm Earth Elemental Mages!
"What was I thinking? I should have done my homework before charging in here!" Ventura cursed himself as he ran frantically through the forest.
"Where do you think you're going?" A calm yet terrifying voice whispered right next to his ear.
Before he could react, pain shot through his body as an unseen force sent him crashing into multiple trees, splintering them apart like matchsticks.
He lay twitching on the ground, blood covering his face while cracks marred his armor. "P-please... don't kill me," Ventura gasped weakly as blood continued to pour from his mouth.
Trinity stood over him with an icy expression. "My brother always told me not to provoke anyone unless they offend me first. But now you've crossed that line, and because of your stupidity, the Battle Wolves will be wiped out without mercy."
With a swift motion, she pierced Ventura's heart with her gleaming spear, ending his life instantly.
She stared down at his lifeless body with an emotionless face.
"Big sis! Captain!" A voice rang out as Brixton, Aegnor, Melian, and the rest of the Morningstar Adventurer Team gathered around Trinity, their eyes fixed on Ventura's lifeless body. Cold gazes filled the air, this was no ordinary scene.
"Have you dealt with the others?" Trinity inquired, her tone steady.
"Yeah, they're all gone," Aegnor replied, his voice unwavering. "I checked; there's no sign of life left. No survivors."
"Good," Trinity nodded approvingly. "Now, take care of the bodies and burn them all. We can't leave any traces behind."
"Yes, Captain!" The team responded in unison before swiftly getting to work.
"Melian, scout the area. Make sure there are no unknown factors lurking about," Trinity instructed, turning her focus to her capable scout.
"Understood," Melian replied seriously. With a swift tap of her foot, she vanished into a blur and soared up into the branches above, blending seamlessly with the dense foliage.
"Brixton leaned closer to Trinity. "Should we inform big bro?"
"No," she shook her head firmly. "It's not time yet. The Battle Wolves won't catch wind of this for a while, this gives us some breathing room."
"Got it," Brixton nodded in agreement.
Minutes later, the team regrouped once more.
"Captain! Everything is taken care of," Aegnor reported confidently.
"Great! Let's move out then," Trinity said decisively. "The commotion might have drawn some attention."
With that command echoing through the air, they vanished from the forest as if they had never been there at all.
The only remnants of their presence were massive craters and uprooted trees, a testament to the chaos that had unfolded over miles of desolation.
