Chapter 125: Zi Yan, I Need Your Help to Train!
"Elder Che, watch out!"
Mo Ya shouted in panic. A figure with skin as metallic as steel appeared silently behind his guard. Its face was concealed by a pure white mask, leaving no visible eyes.
The dark figure was covered in cyan runes that shimmered and roamed across its surface, suddenly transforming into raging blue flames.
From his perception, the figure radiated an overwhelming heat, like an erupting volcano, yet carried an eerie, enigmatic presence that seemed to swallow everything around it like a black hole.
"Damn it, what kind of flame is that?" Mo Ya's expression twisted in horror. This fire was far hotter and more violent than any flame he had ever encountered.
"What is… that?" Lin Yan, lying injured on the ground, was equally dumbfounded. When had that black figure even appeared?
Elder Che instinctively glanced to the side at Mo Ya's warning, but the moment his peripheral vision caught sight of the figure, his face went pale with terror.
What was this?
When had it gotten behind him?
Why hadn't he sensed anything at all?
Before Elder Che could make sense of his confusion, the black figure clenched its fist, blue flames swirling and condensing around it.
Boom!
A thunderous explosion echoed through the air.
The black figure struck with its fist, and a pillar of roaring blue flames shot forward like a piercing comet, instantly blasting through Elder Che's waist.
"My heavens…" Lin Yan's jaw dropped as he stared at the scene. The aura of this flame it felt similar to that of the young man who had slapped him earlier.
"Damn it!" Mo Ya roared in fury, his eyes wide with disbelief. Elder Che, a three star Dou Huang, had been defeated in a single blow?
"Hehe… You'd better worry about yourself now!"
Zi Yan's clear and childish voice rang out, but in Mo Ya's ears, it sounded like a clap of thunder.
Mo Ya's expression shifted drastically. In a flash, Zi Yan's petite figure closed in, accompanied by a deafening sonic boom.
Bang!
Zi Yan's tiny fist, wreathed in violet light, slammed squarely into Mo Ya's chest.
"Urgh!"
The force of the punch tore through his body, and Mo Ya spat out a mouthful of blood.
Not far away, Lu Bu raised an eyebrow as he observed. This Mo Ya was indeed unimpressive. Despite his decent strength, his lack of combat experience was glaring. Not only was he easily distracted, but he also failed to dodge when it mattered most.
"Ahhh…"
Mo Ya's face was ashen, blood dripping continuously from the corner of his mouth. The excruciating pain wracking his body made him groan involuntarily.
He flapped his Dou Qi wings frantically, struggling to stay aloft, and clumsily fumbled with his storage ring to retrieve some healing pills.
"You're treating your injuries out in the open without even taking cover?" Lu Bu appeared behind him silently, chuckling. "Mo Ya, are you trying to get yourself killed?"
A faint azure gold light glowed at Lu Bu's fingertips as he flicked his finger, sending a sharp gust of wind slicing through the air toward Mo Ya like a speeding bullet.
The shrill sound of the air being torn apart was deafening, like a bullet fired from a chamber.
Mo Ya's pupils contracted sharply. Reacting instinctively, he crushed a jade token in his hand with a loud crack. A formless ripple of energy spread outward, creating a barrier.
Bang!
Lu Bu's attack struck the invisible shield, causing ripples to shimmer through the air before fading into nothingness.
"Oh? Spatial energy?" Lu Bu murmured, clearly intrigued. Such a technique was something only a Dou Zong expert could employ.
"You're lucky to have such a capable father," Lu Bu sneered, forming a blade with his hand. Azure flames condensed into a razor thin edge along his palm.
Simultaneously, Lu Bu gave a silent command, and the black puppet stepped forward with a thunderous stomp, launching itself toward Mo Ya like a cannonball.
"Yes! We've got him now!" Lin Yan shouted in excitement from the ground. Though he had no idea what that black figure was, it was clear that it could finish Mo Ya off.
"Damn it…" Mo Ya's face twisted in panic as he turned and bolted, his figure transforming into a streak of light heading into the distance.
That black monster was terrifying, and the azure flames wielded by that young Dou Ling were no less daunting.
"You think you can just run after attacking us?" Zi Yan shouted angrily. Her figure flickered as she appeared in Mo Ya's path, her fist wreathed in purple light as she aimed another punch at him.
"It won't be that easy!"
Another deep sonic boom echoed through the air. Mo Ya's expression turned grim as he crushed another jade token in his hand.
He wasn't afraid of the little girl's punch, but the black, rune covered figure was closing in, and the azure flame from that Dou Ling had already been fully charged.
Boom!
The violet punch hurtled toward Mo Ya, only to be stopped by another invisible barrier. Ripples spread outward as the force of the punch was absorbed.
Without slowing down, Mo Ya continued to flee, leaving Zi Yan's efforts ineffective.
"Thank goodness for my father's protective charms…" Mo Ya thought, relief washing over him.
But just then, a low voice echoed through the air:
"Cut!"
A searing azure light burst forth from Lu Bu's palm, slicing through the air like a bolt of lightning aimed directly at Mo Ya's head. It was so fast and sharp that it seemed capable of splitting him in two.
Mo Ya felt as if his heart had skipped a beat. The azure flame blade emitted an unmistakable aura of death.
"Impossible... What is this flame? How can he launch such an attack?" Mo Ya's face contorted in shock, but he had no time to think. Faced with a life or death crisis, he pushed his potential to its limit.
His face flushed red as he clenched his teeth and executed a series of rapid dodges, twisting and turning his body. At the same time, he crushed yet another jade talisman in his hand.
Swish!
However, before the invisible barrier could fully manifest, a flash of blue light streaked by. A burst of blood mist erupted into the air, and a severed arm flew high, trailing crimson droplets.
Lu Bu's expression darkened. This guy had some skill. In the face of death, he had managed to evade the full brunt of the attack.
Zi Yan followed closely, her tiny, pale fist glowing with purple light as she aimed a punch straight at Mo Ya's back.
"Zi Yan, wait! Don't hit him!" Lu Bu snapped back to his senses and called out quickly. Mo Ya's protective charm was now fully activated any further attacks would be futile.
Bang!
But before his words could fully leave his mouth, Zi Yan's punch had already landed. With a deafening boom, Mo Ya used the impact to propel himself farther away.
"Cough... Damn it, just you wait!" Mo Ya's venomous voice echoed from the distance as he fled.
"Damn it! That bastard got away!" Lin Yan shouted in regret from the ground.
Zi Yan looked at her small fist, then glanced at the direction where Mo Ya had disappeared. When she turned back, she met Lu Bu's exasperated expression.
"Ahahaha… I didn't mean to…" Zi Yan let out a nervous laugh, tilting her head as her small, delicate fingers fidgeted with each other.
"Forget it…" Lu Bu sighed, letting the matter drop. Mo Ya had escaped, and there was no point dwelling on it.
Flapping his Violet Cloud Wings, Lu Bu descended to the corpse of the elder who had been ambushed by his puppet.
Lin Yan, still on the ground, tried to lift himself up to see what was happening, but the dense foliage obscured his view of the body that had fallen some distance away.
Lu Bu placed a hand on the elder's forehead, extracting his soul, but what remained was already dissipating, leaving behind only faint remnants of consciousness.
"A Dou Huang's soul is surprisingly weak…" Lu Bu muttered, his expression dark. He directly asked the fragmented soul, "Why were you here?"
"...Sect Master… order… excavate… realm…" the soul managed to utter a few disjointed words before fading completely. Its tone was ethereal and fleeting.
"'Sect Master,' 'order,' 'excavate,' 'realm'?" Lu Bu frowned. The fragmented soul had provided too little information only five cryptic words that didn't form a coherent answer.
"This is getting troublesome…" Lu Bu murmured. The corpse wasn't severely damaged, but repairing it for refinement into a puppet would require significant resources.
"Lu Bu, what are you doing?" Zi Yan flew over, tilting her head in curiosity.
"Looking for loot!" Lu Bu replied with a grin, raising his palm to reveal a light blue storage ring. Refining another puppet wasn't worth the effort one Dou Huang level puppet was already sufficient.
"Ah!" Zi Yan's large eyes lit up with excitement as she exclaimed, "I think Mo Ya's severed arm had a storage ring too! Let me go find it!"
Lu Bu pressed a hand on her head, laughing. "No need to rush. I've already sent the puppet to retrieve it."
As soon as he finished speaking, the puppet returned, carried by the wind, holding the severed arm in its hand. A faintly glowing black storage ring was still attached to the arm. Lu Bu removed the ring and probed its contents with his mind.
"How is it? Any good stuff?" Zi Yan eagerly asked, her excitement palpable.
"There's a lot and it's all good." Lu Bu chuckled as he waved his hand, causing several jade boxes to appear before him. Even with the boxes sealed, the potent aroma of medicinal herbs wafted through the air.
"Let me see! Let me see!" Zi Yan could hardly contain her excitement as she hurriedly opened the boxes. Her face lit up with joy at the sight of the precious herbs inside: Fire Spirit Roots, Frost Marrow Branches, Jade Bone Fruits...
"Hehehe, we hit the jackpot!" Zi Yan rubbed her hands together, grinning so widely that her eyes practically disappeared.
Lu Bu laughed softly. It was no wonder so many people enjoyed scavenging; looting one person's belongings was far more lucrative than searching an entire city.
Now, there was no need to look for additional herbs!
"Lu Bu, these herbs…" Zi Yan stared at him with sparkling eyes, practically drooling.
"Alright, I'll refine them into pills for you," Lu Bu replied without hesitation.
"Yes! I knew you were a good person!" Zi Yan cheered, hugging Lu Bu's leg in excitement.
Lu Bu patted her head and said, "Zi Yan, I need your help with something."
"What is it?" Zi Yan puffed out her small chest and patted it confidently. "Just say it! I'll definitely help!"
"I need your assistance in my cultivation," Lu Bu said seriously.
"Huh?" Zi Yan tilted her head, her little face full of confusion, a series of question marks practically floating above her head.
