Chapter 43: Chapter 43: The Interrogation Secret Technique
"You..." The surviving followers stood frozen when they saw Xiao Yan cleanly and effortlessly kill the strongest elder among them. It wasn't until Xiao Yan slowly turned his gaze upon them that they suddenly came to their senses and attempted to flee. But they had barely turned around before Xiao Yan was already standing at the entrance, smiling faintly.
"Since you're already here, don't be in such a hurry to leave." Xiao Yan drew the Heavy Xuan Ruler and blocked the exit. "Relax, your luck is slightly better than those two. I'll try to ensure you die without pain."
Faced with Xiao Yan barring their escape, the remaining men were filled with fear. Still, they knew their only chance at survival lay in forcing their way through this young man. With that resolve, they unleashed their strongest Dou Skills—not to defeat Xiao Yan, but merely to drive him back and give themselves a chance to flee.
Xiao Yan only let out a cold chuckle. He didn't even bother to form a Dou Qi armor. Instead, he opened his mouth slightly, and a ripple of invisible sound waves erupted outward, instantly dispersing the incoming Dou Skills. Not only that, the sound wave carried on with full force, slamming directly into the attackers.
Profound Rank High Dou Skill: Mad Lion's Roar!
Under this terrifying sonic assault, the men—each at least peak Da Dou Shi—were thrown into dizziness, their mouths and noses bleeding. Before they could recover, Xiao Yan's Heavy Xuan Ruler swept horizontally, severing them all cleanly at the waist.
In less than a minute, only Xiao Yan and the green-clad girl remained standing in the tent. His overwhelming display left the girl stunned. She had rushed into the tent intending to cause confusion and buy herself time to escape. She never imagined this young man would utterly annihilate all her pursuers.
With a wave of his hand, Xiao Yan summoned a surge of purple-black Heavenly Flame and reduced the corpses to ash. Only then did he slowly approach the young sect master. The man had a surprisingly strong will to survive—despite the brutal beating and that final explosive stomp, he still clung to life. Though his end was near, Xiao Yan wasn't about to get careless.
"D-Do you know who I am?! If you kill me, my father will never let you go!" the Ten Scorpion Sect's young master stammered, struggling to speak as Xiao Yan approached.
"Ugh, not this tired old line again. Seriously, do all you young masters share the same script or something?" Xiao Yan shook his head with a chuckle. "Of course I know who you are—young master of the Ten Scorpion Sect. I gave you a chance, and you chose to waste it."
"Honestly, I was planning to ignore you people. But you scumbags just had to provoke me. Do you really think I have a saint's temper?" Xiao Yan muttered, lifting his foot and stomping down hard on the man's head. "Now you try to use your daddy as a shield? If he shows up, I'll send him to join you. Do I look like I'm scared of your damn Ten Scorpion Sect?"
With one stomp, the young man's skull was crushed, and Xiao Yan let out a long breath. As expected, nothing was more cathartic than killing. That wave of irritation that had been gnawing at him since the fusion of the Heavenly Flames had finally eased. If he had known it would be this effective, he wouldn't have bothered trying to suppress it—he'd have just gone out and slaughtered a bunch of pests.
"Miss, would you mind telling me who you are and why they were chasing you?" After burning the last remaining corpse, Xiao Yan turned to the green-clad girl.
The girl, whose name he didn't yet know, had already been trying to quietly sneak out of the tent while Xiao Yan was dealing with the barely-alive sect master. She had nearly reached the exit when Xiao Yan suddenly called out to her, and her foot froze mid-step.
Having witnessed the massacre firsthand, she was well aware of Xiao Yan's terrifying strength. Though she herself wasn't strong, she had trained in some advanced body movement Dou Techniques, which was how she had barely escaped the Ten Scorpion Sect's clutches. But Xiao Yan was different—his speed alone was enough to finish her in the blink of an eye. There was no way she could outrun someone like him.
Realizing this, she quickly made a decision and obediently answered, "My name is Ye Xiaolian. I'm a mercenary. I found a treasure map, and that's why those people from the Ten Scorpion Sect were after me."
"A treasure map? What kind of treasure map?" Xiao Yan raised an eyebrow. Based on experience, anything that popped up now was likely connected to the Scorpion Tomb. Could it be that the Scorpion Dragon Beast left behind more than just its corpse?
"I don't know," Ye Xiaolian replied with a shake of her head. She wasn't foolish enough to reveal such things to a stranger. What if he got greedy and decided to snatch it for himself?
"You really don't know?" Xiao Yan stared into her eyes, smiling faintly. A subtle glimmer appeared within his pupils, and Ye Xiaolian's gaze began to lose focus. Her expression turned dazed.
"Of course I do."
"Then, could you tell me what this treasure map leads to?" Xiao Yan continued, his tone soft. From the moment this girl had barged into his tent trying to use him as bait, he had known she was not someone easily fooled. She was definitely no Xiao Yixian. Extracting the truth from her wouldn't be easy through normal conversation.
That was why Xiao Yan didn't waste time talking and instead used a secret interrogation technique he had learned in his past life.
This technique worked similarly to hypnosis, using soul force to invade the target's mind and cloud their consciousness, prompting them to reveal information on their own. However, it only worked when the user's soul strength vastly exceeded the target's—otherwise, it risked dangerous backlash.
Fortunately, Xiao Yan's current soul power was already at the peak level of a sixth-tier alchemist. In the entire Chu Yun Empire, there probably wasn't anyone who could match him in soul strength. As for Ye Xiaolian, her spiritual force didn't even measure up to an apprentice alchemist's. She stood no chance of resisting.
The moment Xiao Yan activated the secret technique, she was completely under his control.
