Brothel Manager : Unexpected Encounter with A Hidden Family Heirloom

Chapter 509: Boring!

In the middle of two enemy sides, General Harris Singh stood tall, his eyes scanning both factions before he spoke with authority. "I arranged this urgent gathering to hear your final opinions before the war resumes. Patriarch Ryon of the Taurus family, and Patriarch Long of the Faurus family, do either of you have any change of heart regarding this war?" General Harries Singh asked with a serious look at each patriarch. Ryon and Long stood a few feet apart, their eyes locked in a glare that could burn through steel. Their hatred for each other was palpable, like fire and oil waiting for a spark. Patriarch Long sneered, folding his arms across his broad chest. "Change of heart?" He laughed loudly, the sound echoing across the field. "Are you still dreaming of victory after yesterday's slaughter, Ryon?" His taunt cut through the heavy air like a blade. Ryon's smirk was cold, his eyes narrowing. "Except for one man, your entire army couldn't even breach my outer shield wall," he spat, mocking Long with every word. "Hmph! Today, we'll crush your front wall under my feet," Long shot back, his voice thick with venom. His angry glare only fueled the tension, and soon the commanders behind him joined in, cursing and jeering at the Taurus family. "The scorpion spirit will tear through your pathetic python today!" shouted Thomas, the Aries family patriarch, standing beside Ryon. He made a cutting gesture with his hand. "Once it's done, we'll bury the entire Faurus family under this very sand!" "Dream on!" Long roared, pointing a threatening finger towards Thomas, his face flushed with anger. "You'll taste your own blood before you see my family fall!" General Harris hurriedly raised his hands, stepping between the two patriarchs as the noise grew louder. The commanders on both sides were itching for a fight, their curses and threats escalating. "Enough!" General Harris barked, his voice cutting through the chaos. "Save your fierceness for the battlefield, not before me!" His face was stern, and his tone held a warning. "Don't forget that millions of soldiers are dying because of your enmity. If you want to continue this war, fine—but show some dignity. Now, leave and prepare your armies. This ends in battle, not bickering." Both patriarchs gave each other one final glare before turning away. Long spat on the ground as he walked back toward his camp, while Ryon snorted, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. --- As the rays of the sun stretched across the island, a loud siren rang out, signaling the start of the battle. But unlike the previous days, there was no rush, no clashing of swords or roaring of battle cries. The battlefield remained utterly calm. On the Taurus side, Patriarch Ryon had chosen an Elephant formation—rows of soldiers lined up with heavy shields, their stance immovable like a wall of stone. Across from them, the Faurus family stood in a round shield wall formation, their soldiers packed tightly together, their shields overlapping like a fortress, waiting to absorb the first blow. The tension was unbearable, the quiet so unnerving that even the wind seemed to hold its breath. Both sides had chosen a defensive stance, and the silence that hung between them was suffocating. Ryon stood behind the front line of his army, his eyes scanning the Faurus soldiers. "Hold the line!" he commanded, his voice carrying across the ranks. "Let them come to us. We strike only when the time is right." On the other side, Patriarch Long was whispering similar orders to his commanders. "No unnecessary attacks today. We hold our ground. Let's see if they dare to break first." The soldiers exchanged uneasy glances, their grips tightening on their weapons. The sound of their breathing, the shuffle of armor, and the occasional clink of swords were the only noises breaking the stillness. The two sides stared each other down, neither willing to make the first move. "Is this a war or a staring contest?" one of the Faurus soldiers muttered, earning a nervous chuckle from his comrades. The minutes dragged on, and still, there was no rush of violence, no brutal charge. The commanders paced back and forth, barking orders, but the fight remained passive. Two Hours passed, and the sun now hung high in the sky. Both sides had fought before, but today they were playing a deadly waiting game. The tension was thick enough to choke on. Thomas of the Aries family rode up to Ryon, his face twisted with frustration. "What is this?" he spat. "Why aren't they attacking? Why aren't we attacking? We'll be sitting here until the moon rises at this rate." "They're waiting for us to make the first move, just as we are," Ryon replied, his voice low and measured. "They're too scared to charge us. Let them rot in their own fear." On the Faurus side, one of the younger commanders, impatient with the stillness, rode up to Long. "We should charge! What are we waiting for?" "Patience," Long growled, not taking his eyes off the Taurus army. "They are more desparate than us and They'll make a mistake soon enough." Back at the Farus family barracks, Das watched from a distance, leaning against a pole with an amused smirk. "What a show of restraint," he muttered under his breath. His wounds from the previous day fully healed, but he couldn't help but laugh at the duck show. Princess Amara who joined late, went next to her father, looked across the field, her face hardening with determination. "Are we really going to let this drag on all day?" she asked, glancing at her father. Long gave her a sidelong look and shook his head. "No. But the moment we make a move, they'll respond in kind. Our formation is a defensive one. There is no way we can attack them now." And so, the two sides continued to stare each other down, neither willing to be the first to strike. The battlefield, though filled with millions of soldiers, remained eerily quiet as the hours passed. No animal spirits were summoned, no grand attacks were launched. It was a war of patience, a war of endurance. "It's too boring for me. Need to throw some Fire!" Kent muttered with an evil grin ;-] - PeterPan ;-)
