Chapter 38: First Things First!
Burning Sun Peak…
Inner Court…
Late evening. The sun was going down between the distant twin mountains.
In the servant quarters near Ron Lee's room, two servants were almost shaking in fear.
Last night, Mo Han and Fatty Lambu had returned from their journey. But Ron Lee, who had followed behind them, still hadn't come back to the sect.
"Servant Chan, you're the one who said Mo Han went to the Pink Blossom Tree Sect. Are you sure about it?" another servant asked with a serious expression.
"Yes, they really went toward the twin mountains. Only the Pink Blossom Tree Sect lies in that direction," Chan replied quickly. "Also, I asked the gatekeeper to inform us if our young master Ron appears. But they said they haven't seen Young Master Ron Lee either."
"I really can't believe that servant Mo Han brought a mountain eagle into the inner court. That should've been a perfect opportunity for our master Ron Lee to take revenge on him. But sadly, he still hasn't returned," the other servant said with a disappointed sigh.
"Don't worry," Chan said, placing a hand on the other servant's shoulder. "Mo Han used the mountain eagle to quickly return to the sect. Our young master will come back soon too."
"If the young master doesn't return by tomorrow morning, we'll have no choice but to confront Mo Han and that hairless pimple, his ally," the other servant said, frustrated.
"If things come to that, we'll take support from Young Master Jong on the main peak. We can use the matter of the mountain eagle to pressure Mo Han into revealing the truth. For now, we can only hope our young master returns by morning," Chan said calmly.
Having come to a conclusion, both servants sighed in frustration and resumed cleaning the area outside Ron Lee's room.
---
In the late evening, Mo Han was practicing the third form of the Sun Piercing Sword.
Using the first form, he had already learned to wrap fire around the blade. In the second form, he could release a fireball with a swift slash.
Now, in the third form, he was training to control the distance traveled by the fireball—to strike a target at will.
He placed a stone some distance away and began slowly increasing the range with each strike.
Control of the fireball's direction depended mostly on the angle, precision, and force of the sword's swing—skills Mo Han had honed during life-and-death battles with the cursed sword.
Now, it felt almost natural.
As Mo Han released fireball after fireball, Fatty Lambu sat nearby, staring at him with wide eyes.
The mountain eagle also watched intently, tilting its head toward each strike.
Slowly, a dent began forming on the stone's surface as the fireballs struck with consistent power.
After releasing more than thirty-three fireballs—each about the size of a fist—Mo Han finally sat back near the mountain eagle, exhausted.
Fatty Lambu quickly placed a piece of dry bread drizzled with wild honey on a nearby stone.
Mo Han gave a tired smile and began munching on the bread, breaking a piece off to share with the mountain eagle.
"Brother," Fatty said with excitement, "you should test your cultivation level. I think you might've already crossed the seventh level of Qi Condensation. With a little effort, you could apply for inner court disciple status!"
Mo Han smiled again and swallowed his food.
"I'm not joking, brother. You've already mastered three forms of the Sun Piercing Sword! To get the manual for the other forms, you must be an inner court disciple," Fatty insisted. The genuine article resides on M|V|L&EMPYR.
"I'm not in a hurry, Fatty," Mo Han replied, patting the eagle's neck gently. "First, I need to find my body constitution. After choosing a proper cultivation method, then I'll think about inner court status."
Fatty rubbed his head in frustration.
"Brother, why are you so stubborn? Finding your body constitution needs a lot of wealth. And honestly, it's not some godly miracle that will change your life completely," Fatty replied.
"Fatty," Mo Han said with a serious tone, "don't get distracted by the small gains in low-ranking sects. The world is a vast place. Wealth always follows the powerful."
He looked into the distant sky.
"My aim is the heavens. If you want to reach the peak, every small detail matters. Choosing a cultivation method that suits your body is like building a solid foundation for a towering palace. So stop nagging me with shortcuts."
Fatty stayed silent for a moment, digesting Mo Han's words.
"Brother, I really don't understand where your confidence comes from… but I'll support you anyway. If you become a king in the future, don't forget this humble minister," Fatty said with a theatrical bow.
"You dumb fatty," Mo Han chuckled, slapping Lambu on the shoulder. "You really know how to survive in this world. By the way, didn't I ask you to find out about the auction houses? Got anything?"
"Hehehe… I'm already on it, brother. I paid a spirit stone to the administration hall for the details. I think we'll have the information by tomorrow morning!" Fatty replied confidently.
"Why are you searching for auction houses?"
A voice came suddenly from behind. Jia Kai had appeared, her face serious and unreadable.
Fatty Lambu immediately bowed his head in respect, though Jia Kai had already told them not to.
Mo Han stood slowly and turned to face her.
"To find out my body constitution," he answered firmly. "The journey to the Pink Blossom Tree Sect was a failure. According to their elder, my body constitution may be above King-grade."
Jia Kai narrowed her eyes and stared at him, judging.
"Mo Han, come with me," she said abruptly. "I want to talk to you. Alone."
Without waiting for his reply, she turned and walked toward her stone house.
With a heavy sigh, Mo Han fallowed her into the stone house.
