Chapter 33: Really Poor Treasury?!
"Enough with your nice words. Tell me, how do you know Jia Kai?" Su Kai asked while examining Mo Han from top to bottom.
"Jia Kai? I am her servant in the inner court of the Burning Sun Pavilion. If you want more details, I can answer for you." Mo Han replied calmly.
While answering, Mo Han clearly observed the subtle changes on Su Kai's face, hoping to confirm the connection between Jia Kai and the elder before him.
As expected, the elder was surprised for a moment upon hearing his answer.
Meanwhile, Su Kai was confused about why her clever daughter had sent a mere servant to the Pink Blossom Tree Sect just to learn his body constitution. There is a clear danger of exposing her identity in the burning sun peak which might be a greater risk to deal with.
But upon thinking, Su Kai understood that her daughter trusted Mo Han completely. Otherwise, why would she take such a risk!
"Is something wrong?" Mo Han asked after noticing her distracted expression.
"Nothing…" she said, standing up from her chair. "As you requested, I will help you find your body constitution. But you must repay this favor in the future, even if you don't possess any peculiar constitution. Will you agree to that?" she asked while staring directly into Mo Han's eyes.
"Yes… even if I don't have any body constitution at all, I will remember this favor." Mo Han replied, matching her gaze.
"Very well… follow me. It will be done in a short time. You don't need to stay the night inside this woman's cage."
After saying that, she opened the room door and walked outside. Mo Han followed behind her with a smiling face.
As they both descended to the ground on the eagles, Chi Kai silently followed them like a speechless doll.
After dismounting the carrier eagles, Su Kai walked ahead with a stern face, while Mo Han and Chi Kai followed at the same pace. They crossed through disciple barracks.
Many women who were practicing nearby noticed the scene, but none dared to whisper or face the wrath of Elder Su Kai.
They passed by the Death Stone Sword practice area and continued along the narrow pink stream.
Chi Kai understood that her mother was taking them toward the sect treasury, where they could test Mo Han's body constitution.
On the other hand, Mo Han was quietly observing the surroundings—the scenic path and the beautiful stream of pink water flowing beside them.
Soon, they approached a large, triangular-shaped mountain. Seven elderly women stood at its base, leisurely chatting, each holding a spear in hand.
Elder Su Kai walked up to them and bowed her head. Mo Han and Chi Kai stood behind her with stoic expressions.
"Please open the treasury gates for me. I want to test the body constitution of this young fellow," Su Kai requested in a respectful tone.
"Do you have the permission of the Matriarch?" one of the spear-holding elders asked with a stern expression.
"No. This is for personal use. I'll report it back to the Matriarch."
After saying that, Elder Su Kai took out a star-shaped token from her waist and showed it to them.
The seven elders exchanged glances and joined the tips of their spears together. Instantly, the invisibility spell around the treasury entrance faded away, and the large wooden doors opened with a loud thud.
"You have permission to touch the Rainbow Orb. Other than that, your fingers shouldn't touch anything inside the treasury," the elder with the spear warned, then stepped aside to make way.
Elder Su Kai nodded and stepped forward. Mo Han followed with great anticipation, expecting to witness the countless treasures of the cultivation world inside the sect treasury.
Until now, he had only seen spirit stones, the common currency of the cultivation world. That's why he was deeply curious to see the kinds of treasures that could potentially make him a wealthy man.
Meanwhile, Chi Kai waited outside the treasury patiently.
Even after entering the triangular mountain, Mo Han had to walk through several twists and turns before stepping into a large, vacant room. Enjoy the story by reading on M|V|LE%MPYR.
But to his disappointment, there were no mountains of treasure or glowing crystals as he had imagined. The room looked plain, filled with stacked boxes—most of them empty.
There were only three boxes of spirit stones on one side, and nine different treasures hanging along a wall.
"Are you disappointed?" Elder Su Kai asked as she moved toward the wall where the treasures were displayed.
"If I can't lie… yes. I am disappointed to see only three boxes of spirit stones and nine treasures inside the treasury of the famous Pink Blossom Tree Sect," Mo Han replied honestly.
"Not only Pink Blossom Tree—many third-grade sects are in the same state. We survive on tertiary Qi roots. The major sects have already claimed the lands with primary Qi roots.
At least the Pink Blossom Tree Sect has a decent place to survive."
Elder Su Kai spoke with a hint of self-mockery as she picked up a round orb hanging on the wall. As its name suggested, the orb glowed in seven different colors.
"Are you saying that the wealth of a sect is decided by its Qi roots?" Mo Han asked with a curious look.
"Yes. If a region has better Qi roots, you'll find spirit crystal mines nearby. Those spirit crystals can make you rich in a single day.
Sadly, the powerful sects have already occupied all the wealthy locations," Elder Su Kai replied as she placed the orb onto a wooden pole.
The runes on the wooden pole lit up, flowing toward Su Kai, and the orb began emitting a strange, peaceful music.
While staring at the glowing orb, Mo Han pondered deeply. "In any world, real estate seems to be the major-source of wealth. It would be better for me if I could find a method to locate places with Qi-roots…"
