Broly’s Multiversal Foodie Adventure

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: You Are All My Wings

"Huh?"

"You're awake?"

An unfamiliar voice startled Mein. She sat up abruptly but winced as pain shot through her body.

"Where am I?"

An unfamiliar room, a soft bed, white sheets covering her, and her injuries seemed to have been treated.

"This is a room in the inn we rented. You were pretty badly hurt."

"Gurgle~"

Mein's stomach growled, making her face turn red.

"You must be hungry. I'll get you something to eat."

Akame didn't mind and left the room to fetch food.

"Do you want to wipe your face?"

Kurome handed her a damp towel. The girl had been placed in their room.

Mein looked at the girl by her bed and gradually remembered what had happened before she passed out. She had been saved.

"Wait, my scarf!"

Mein thought of her mother's keepsake and immediately looked around for it.

"Your scarf is in your hand. You've been clutching it since you passed out."

Kurome reminded her.

"Ah..."

Mein pulled her hand out from under the blanket and saw that the scarf was indeed in her hand. Perhaps because her arm was numb or she was still groggy, she hadn't noticed it earlier.

Mein sighed in relief, holding the scarf like a treasure, and thanked Kurome.

"Don't thank me. It was Broly who stopped that guy and got your scarf back. If you want to thank someone, thank him."

"Okay."

Mein nodded softly. She remembered the boy who had approached her before she passed out, returning the scarf to her.

"Hey, are you going to wipe your face or not?"

Kurome had been standing by the bed with the towel for a while. Seeing the girl lost in thought, she couldn't help but urge her.

"Ah, I'll wipe it!"

Realizing Kurome's impatience, Mein quickly responded.

But in truth, while she was unconscious, Kurome and Akame had already cleaned her up.

Not just her face, but her entire body. They had even applied medicinal oil to her bruises.

That's why Mein only felt sore now, rather than being in so much pain she couldn't move. It was all thanks to the medicinal oil.

The western frontier of the Empire was known for its simple folk. While large-scale killings were prohibited within the city, fights and brawls were commonplace.

As a result, the doctors and medicines here were more effective than in other places.

"The doctor we called said you've been malnourished for a long time and have some stomach issues. He recommended we give you some light food.

This is a chicken porridge made by our companion, Tsukushi. She said it's good for recovery and tastes great. Try it."

Not long after, Akame brought over a clay pot on a tray. When she opened the lid, the aroma made Mein's mouth water.

"Do you need me to feed you?"

Akame asked.

"I can eat by myself."

Although the people who saved her seemed kind, having lived on the streets for so long, Mein wasn't used to others being overly affectionate.

But when she tried to lift her arms, she found them weak and sore. To protect her mother's scarf, Mein's forearms had taken many kicks and were now too weak to lift.

"Let me feed you."

Akame sat by the bed, picked up a spoon, and blew on the hot porridge before bringing it to Mein's lips.

"Thank you."

Mein's face turned slightly red as she thanked Akame, no longer refusing the kindness.

In less than twenty minutes, the entire pot of porridge was fed to Mein.

"Do you want more? We made a lot."

Akame asked.

"I'm full, thank you."

Mein quickly shook her head, her small belly now round and full.

This was probably the fullest she had ever been in her life.

"Since you're full, then..."

Kurome ran off to call Broly, who soon arrived in the room.

Under Mein's nervous gaze, Broly extended his hand.

"I want to be your best friend. Will you accept?"

Broly asked seriously.

Mein was caught off guard by the question.

She had been saved, had something precious returned to her, been treated kindly, and now the leader of the group that saved her was asking to be her best friend. It was all too much for her to process.

"Why?"

Finally, Mein asked her question.

"Because the Crystal Palace recognizes you."

Broly answered honestly. Akame and Kurome, standing nearby, understood that the girl on the bed was likely someone special to Broly, just like them.

Before this, Akame and Kurome had noticed Broly's extra care for them, though they never asked why.

Now, thanks to Mein's question, they finally got their answer: the Crystal Palace.

"The Crystal Palace recognizes me? But who is the Crystal Palace?"

Mein was certain she didn't know anyone by that name.

"The Crystal Palace is a module given to me by the system. It helps me find potential targets in different worlds.

My goal is to make people like you as happy as possible and eventually invite you to join my Crystal Palace as my wife."

Broly explained in detail, causing the other two girls in the room to gasp.

"So, Broly, you want to marry both me and my sister?!"

Kurome exclaimed in realization.

"Is that not okay?"

Broly asked, a bit worried.

"It's not that it's not okay."

Akame thought for a moment before replying. She really didn't want to be separated from her sister.

"That's good."

Broly felt relieved. If either Akame or Kurome had refused, he would have been heartbroken.

Both sisters had happiness levels above 200, with Akame nearing 300.

"You are all my wings."

The phrase popped into Broly's mind, and he said it out loud while spreading his arms.

Akame and Kurome looked at him, confused. Broly, too, was puzzled by his own action.

He had instinctively spread his arms, as if to match the phrase in his mind.

Akame, however, seemed to have an epiphany. She moved closer to Broly's arm.

Kurome, seeing her sister's action, followed suit and clung to Broly's other arm.

The three of them formed a strange, artistic pose in front of Mein, resembling a bird spreading its wings.

Broly stood with his arms raised, while Akame and Kurome hung from them, their bodies slightly trembling as they tried to mimic the flapping of wings.

The scene was abstract yet vivid, making Mein wonder if she should get out of bed and join them as the "tail feathers" of this human art piece.

However, imagining herself trying to support her entire body at an angle and shake like a bird's tail was impossible, so she wisely decided against joining in.

"So, do you want to become my wing?"

Broly asked, still holding up the two girls.

"I don't think I can hold onto your arm like they can."

"That's okay. I can hold onto you."

Broly put Akame and Kurome down. Both girls' faces were red from the effort of mimicking bird wings.

"All you need to do is give me your hand. I'll protect you and make sure you're happy."

Broly extended his hand to Mein again. Mein looked at Broly, then at the twin sisters, and finally at the scarf she had almost lost.

"My name is Mein. If you don't mind my mixed heritage, I'd like to become your wife."

Mein placed her hand in Broly's and spoke.

[The Crystal Palace has recognized Mein's gratitude for retrieving her keepsake. She is ready to join your Crystal Palace as an official member. Will you accept her now?]

"Not yet. We need to start as best friends first. I need to make you happy before you can join."

Broly declined Mein's immediate request. He wanted to raise her happiness level significantly before inviting her into the Crystal Palace.

"Huh?!"

Mein was surprised but accepted it gladly. Meeting Broly had abruptly ended her life on the streets.

Later, when the rest of the caravan found out, no one made a big deal about it. After all, they had already taken in bandits and slaves. Adding a mixed-blood girl wasn't a big deal.

"Let's move out!"

After resting in the border city for two days, the caravan set off again, carrying goods that were more popular in the south.

Mein's injuries had mostly healed, and she could now sit in the carriage, chatting and laughing with the other children.

The scarf her mother had left her was washed clean and tied around her hair, no longer used to hide her mixed heritage but as a simple hair tie.
