Broken Possessors of Infinite Regression Academy

Chapter 47

“Rumors about the association of the clergy with succubi spread quickly. There were quite a few people who harbored resentment towards the clergy’s corruption, and rumors were even fabricated out of thin air.

Especially since Alexander had caused all sorts of scandals and corruption at the academy.

Thanks to that, Rosalia reaped considerable benefits. In addition to the Imperial investigators and the Chairman announcing that the candidate for saint had nothing to do with the succubus incident, her good behavior also played a role.

‘I’m told I’m like a lotus blooming in the mud. Hm, hehe. It’s embarrassing to say that for real.’

As Rosalia was pushed forward to become a true leader of the clergy, she seemed embarrassed but also seemed to enjoy it in her own way. A smile never left her face.

“But aren’t you supposed to be in class right now? Is it okay for you to be here?”

“The Chairman said I could handle things on my own this week. If I want to attend class, I can. If I want to rest, I can.”

Since the theoretical exam was checked with Priscilla and wasn’t too difficult, and the rest of the lectures were all the same, I chose to take a break. As long as I get the grades I publicly announced, it’s fine.

“She’s just blatantly favoring you. Did she ever give you a proper warning?”

“She’s done enough for me so far. There are still doubts about my abilities that the Chairman hasn’t cleared up yet. Ever since I met the Maker, that doubt has been lingering. Frankly, I don’t think I can hide it for long.”

“Fair enough. You were the one who prevented the demonic outbreak in the Belium Forest, weren’t you? So, about your side…”

Rosalia glanced at the seat next to me. Sitting there was Priscilla, who happily snuggled up to me, holding my hand tightly.

“Why are you here? You couldn’t even come in as a related party last time. Aren’t you supposed to be attending lessons?”

“I canceled classes.”

“..Oh, right.”

With Priscilla’s confident declaration of self-declared holiday, Rosalia shook her head incredulously.

“Didn’t the professor say anything?”

“Couldn’t say anything. I got perfect scores on all the written exams.”

‘”…..”

There really are all kinds of people, huh? Rosalia, who looked at Priscilla with a face that said ‘there’s always one’ then turned her head towards me. She seemed to have no confidence in winning an argument with Priscilla.

“Are we done with everything we need to do now?”

“Yeah. Now we just wait. We’ve cut off all the events from the original work. But it won’t be long before something else happens, right? Seeing how they cut off the funding to you after the last incident, they’re probably starting to reach out to us now.”

It was said that even the clergy had to stop and think about their actions, and when she had completely ignored all the return orders so far, they had  decided to stop the financial support they had been sending regularly.

In fact, it was no different from openly admitting defeat and declaring their intention to ignore our side. It was a shame that we had only fleeced them ten times so far.

“Mira.”

“Yeah?”

“The last incident was really resolved, right? You didn’t get hurt or anything? If you did… I…”

“Would you think I’d get hurt by someone like that?”

Shaking her head with tears in her eyes, Priscilla pressed her cheek against mine again, her hand sliding up my thigh to rest on mine.

Rosalia, on the opposite side, looked at me with a smirk, as if wondering whether to mention it or not.

‘Don’t.’

I whispered firmly, pursing my lips. Rosalia seemed to have waited for this, nodding her head up and down as if to say ‘fair enough.’

Rosalia was well aware that Priscilla’s mind was quite unstable. It wouldn’t do any good to provoke an already unstable person and possibly invite trouble onto myself.

“That aside, it’s a shame we couldn’t get the Holy Grail. At least we could have considered a response method.”

It’s easier to deal with a weapon that enhances thousands of enemies simultaneously than a weapon that kills thousands of allies at once. The latter at least allows for some attempt to counter with skill.

‘Come to think of it, there was one more.’

Suddenly, the thought struck me. When Rosalia explained, she had mentioned that there were three relics stolen by the Demon Lord’s army.

“What was the last one? The one the Pope always carries with him, so we couldn’t get it.”

“Oh, that? It’s called the Ring of Whispering Night, it has the ability to shroud the user in darkness. It’s idiotic to use it during the day, but it’s practically invisibility at night.”

“Shrouded in darkness? That doesn’t seem to match the name of the clergy at all.”

“I guess they had their own reasons. They said it was like how stars shine brighter in the darkness, allowing the starlight to shine the brightest. It’s all about interpretation, isn’t it?”

A relic that makes starlight shine the brightest. It was quite a well-fitted explanation.

“I remember someone took it later… Ah. It seems like the Succubus Queen took it. But, well, considering the current state of the clergy, it’s more convenient to think it’s already been stolen rather than later.”

Rosalia, who had finished explaining, hummed a strange tune and cheerfully pulled out a handful of desserts from the magic preservation container.

Calling it a magic preservation container sounds good, but we just call it a refrigerator.

“You’ll get fat if you keep eating like that.”

I commented as I watched Rosalia unabashedly devouring a dessert covered in cream and jam with a happy face. Rosalia shook her index finger as if to say, ‘I don’t get fat. It goes all to my chest. Isn’t this body just unfair?’

She twisted her waist from side to side, supporting her chest with her other arm, the other holding the dessert. There was nothing I could say to that, as the evidence was right there in front of me.

The conversation fell silent for a while. Taking advantage of the lull, I glanced around the club room. The direction where the bed was located was decorated like a private room.

“Why do I see underwear sprawled all over the bed? And only panties.”

“I’m planning to stay here. I don’t want to set foot in the building that bastard used. Is that okay?”

“It’s not that it’s not okay, but this is our club room. People will be coming in and out, but you’re okay with that?”

“I don’t care. People can come and go, talk to you guys while they’re here, and you won’t be having meetings while I’m sleeping. Besides, you’re all girls, so there’s nothing to hide, right? And as for you…”

“What about me?”

Rosalia seemed to hesitate for a moment, as if choosing her words carefully, but then suddenly coughed as if something had come to her mind.

“Cough! Anyway, if it’s okay with you, I’d like to stay here. Is that alright?”

“It’s fine. Do as you please.”

With my permission granted, Rosalia started devouring the dessert even more passionately. She offered me one after a while, but I refused. The combination looked too sweet for my taste.

“We’re here, Mira!”

Just as the dessert plate was almost empty, the door swung open vigorously, and Aria and Brynhild walked in. Priscilla heard the footsteps echoing in the hallway and promptly returned to her seat.

They carefully stepped on the carpet after taking off their shoes at the entrance. It seemed they still weren’t used to the price of the carpet.

“Hello, candidate for Saint. Hello, senior Priscilla.”

While Aria greeted Priscilla and Rosalia, Brynhild went straight to the sofa and buried herself in it. Her face was noticeably sulky.

“Did you have lunch? We came to have lunch together. And there’s something to tell you. You didn’t even come to the classroom today. Here, this is the date and place for the midterms.”

Brynhild took out a piece of paper from her bag and handed it to me. I accepted and examined it.

Overall, it was all quite straightforward. General education will have exams, but they won’t count toward the grades. The theoretical exam is nothing special, and the wide-area annihilation lecture is confirmed for full marks, as well as the practical sparring, so…

“Am I seeing this right? Why is the date and time for the dungeon practical exam from Friday evening to Sunday evening?”

Except for one thing. Only the dungeon practical exam is different.

“You read it correctly. Professor Jaina herself said it would be a two-night, three-day affair, so stop asking. Apparently, there’s been quite a fuss about it because of that.”

“They said it’s an overall assessment, so it’s going to be really hard, but there are no failing grades.”

“I’m going to lose my mind, seriously.”

“Ah, I had the same reaction when I first heard it.”

.

.

.

“…Meligor spared that woman?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Astaroth looked utterly baffled upon hearing Roxanna’s report.

“She’s one of our kind, a succubus. Why would that woman Meligor spare a demon? Has she finally gone senile from living too long? That can’t be it. I heard she beat the Maker like he was a goblin.”

“I can’t say for sure, but since Mira Crate had a conversation with the Chairman, I suspect his influence played a significant role—”

“Him again?!”

A near-frenzied shout echoed through the room. Astaroth clutched her head, bewildered by the constant entanglement of her plans with that man.

For a while, Astaroth tangled her hair and stomped her feet in a fit of aimless frustration, while Roxanna watched quietly.

“…Alright. This isn’t too bad. It’s unexpected that Nika survived, but it’s not like we came away empty-handed. The goal was achieved.”

“Have you figured out the reason?”

“Yes. I saw it with my own eyes.”

Since she had shared her vision in advance, Astaroth had clearly observed the moment Nika’s suggestion took effect. After confirming Meligor’s enraged appearance, she had severed the connection.

“That guy was definitely under a suggestion spell, right? I’m sure of it. I can guarantee it one hundred percent. But then, at some point, it was broken. Our charm and pheromones didn’t just fail to affect him—they took hold and then were dispelled.”

“…In that case, he might possess a magical artifact that grants resistance to mental attacks.”

Roxanna felt a sense of relief. It was comforting to think her failures in seduction and the resulting damage to her pride weren’t due to her own shortcomings, but rather to the powerful artifact the man possessed.

“What will you do now, Your Majesty? Now that you know his secret, should I attempt again—”

“No. You’ve already encountered that man too many times. If you try again, he’ll definitely become suspicious. Stay under the radar for at least two months.”

“Understood.”

Roxanna bowed and left the room. Astaroth let out a deep sigh and leaned back against the chair.

‘I thought she’d be killed for sure by the Black Dragon!’

This operation was practically a death sentence. No one believed that idiot would infiltrate the academy of the Black Dragon Meligor and come out unscathed.

But an unexpected situation had unfolded. It was as if she had inadvertently saved someone she could have killed with her own hands.

‘…Still, it should be fine since I absorbed almost all her power.’

There shouldn’t be any threat from the mere remnants that were left inside her.

There couldn’t be.

It wasn’t for nothing that she had her subordinates desperately prevent that woman from feeding. Having never experienced feeding since birth, even if an opportunity arose, she wouldn’t know how to do it and would end up frustrated.

‘She’s finished as a succubus now. She’ll either starve to death or have to give up her identity.’

If she had ever fed even once, her instincts would have awakened, and not even Astaroth could have stopped her. But now it was too late to awaken her blood. Astaroth reassured herself and began planning her next move. (Oooh Foreshadowing! So she is a heroine)

She was the Succubus Queen.

Unique and unmatched, as she should be.
